Granny squares 2nd annual Happy Birthday Friendship/Comfortghan

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, hope all are doing well.  Hoping everyone buried in this snowstorm is warm and safe.  We are looking at a lot of rain on Tuesday but I'd rather have that then snow.   I spent the day at the hospital for all of my pre-admission testing for my upcoming surgery, so that is out of the way.  Tomorrow I go to my regular doctor for her clearance, then Wednesday I have to go to the dentist and get her clearance.  I am really getting tired of being poked and x-rayed.   Oh well, I know it's for my safety.   I did get quite a few squares done now hopefully I can get some mailed out.  I found a 6 inch pattern I thought was really cute so I got a little carried away with them. LOL  Now I need an 8 inch pattern that I really like.  I have quite a few but just looking for something different.

I hope everything goes smoothly!  Lots of prayers being sent your way :hug

ha ha, you were hiding there mz emma!! I have yours done, and ready to go out next mailing probably friday, I even grabbed a couple extra darn custom slips so I wouldn't have to hold up the line filling one out at the post office! I will get them out this friday!  And then I only have one more to go overseas, and that will be next month for sure as well!

Always lurking :P

I asked the Post Office to give me a bundle of customs slips. I keep them in my purse :D

Okay I don't check in here for 24 hours and I have over two pages to look through! And I don't have time to look at them all!

Hugs to everyone, whether you are sick, getting snow, not getting snow, having tests, going to have surgery, moving, worried about your kids, going through your pregnancy.....whew! Makes me feel lucky to just have my DD to deal with!

We are expecting up to 6 inches of snow tomorrow, thick wet and heavy. I'm hoping they are wrong! But if it comes, DD is sooooo happy and hoping for the school to close. Uh, sorry hon not with just 6 inches!

I have a friend who is going to a specialist and may need surgery soon. If you have extra time, please say a quick prayer for her or at least send good thoughts! Thanks!

I need to pull out squares I've already made and match them up to some of you. Then I'll get addresses and get to sending. I know I want to send a few to skoggy soon!

Take care and have a happy and safe nite!

Aww you're a sweetie kuddles :hug

I'm going to send some to you too, with your revised requirements, with my DDK (Double DK). :lol

Today has been the 2nd day of Felicia on no meds. She's fantastic. Still not totally 100% her bouncy, singing, dancing self but its coming back gradually. Thank you to everyone who has had her in their thoughts. :hug

Still no news on the house. Getting annoying now. Just want an answer. Grrr...

And thanks to all who have liked my FB page. Big :hug to you all.

Well, officially out of my dry period, dreamed of a project last  night, and have been busy planning it out, and making sample squares for it!! I am going to do a rainbow bright friendship ghan, which means,,,,, bright shades of the colors of the rainbow, or if you aren't sure, they are red, orange, green, yellow, purple, and blue!  I am going to make at least 20 6 color grannys', in 8 inches, and since I won't ask you all to do all those color changes, and ends, lol I am going back on the board, for 8 inch solids, in bright colors as stated above! Woo hoo, Im excited again, I made a few already of the 6 color ones, there are no bad orders to put them in, they all look good anyway you do them, lol, I will post a pic, but again, not asking anyone to do all those color changes and ends, so will put my preferences down as solids in those bright shades above..... So...... I stand before you,  renewed, refreshed, relieved, and re-cooped, and back to the hook I go! I will add my preferences to the list shortly, and until we meet again....................he he he! My camera hates light purple, and orange, but they all three have all six colors in there, trust me! lol

Those are really fun squares. I'll have to see what bright colors I can find.

I got it!!  Thank you very much.  I'll have to add it to my signature line, but I estimate that now I need 14 6-inch squares and one 3-inch square.  Yay!  Here's a pic of the three squares that smith sent.  I love them!  This is going to be one joyful afghan :)

Those are very pretty squares.

KatherineElaine, thank you for the beautiful squares that arrived today!

Ha! We'd be closed around here for 6 inches. My *work* wouldn't close, no. We could get two feet of snow and we wouldn't be formally closed. Our company president and our production manager would both snowshoe into the building and tell the rest of us, "If the roads are too bad near you, don't come in today; just use a vacation day."  :reyes But the schools would be closed. There have been enough bad snow/ice storms that I think people are a little paranoid now; we keep expecting things to be worse than they are! (Of course, when we DON'T expect it, half the area loses power for four days... so, better to overestimate the damage, I think!)

made the deadline, got Feb.'s squares mailed out today

Hooray! I've been feeling kind of cheat-y because I'm only doing one square at a time, but this way at least I have a chance at meeting the deadline!

I have some *lovely* bright colors. I may even have enough to do a whole rainbow! (Not sure about the orange.) That's going to be one gorgeous afghan! I love rainbow projects!  :manyheart

wow, such an ordeal huh, keep us posted, and hoping all goes very smoothly for you!

Lovely eye candy!

I see a light!  The tunnel wasn't so long after all.  I love the colors you've chosen for your new 'ghan.  I'm in!  Now, I've been trying my best to get squares finished and mailed out, but these last couple of weeks, after a horrible dry work spell, I'm working and it's all being expedited.  So when I think I finally have time to relax and crochet, I am pulled back in.   :lol

I just found out from my SIL that a neighbor in the townhouse three doors down had a break-in today, in broad daylight, while he was at the gym.  He was only gone 1.5 hours, and someone managed to jimmy the garage door and then the inside door.  When I was driving down the long driveway, I was thinking how lucky we are to have a security gate compared to most of the other multi-family buildings around here.  Apparently that's not good enough.  I had just added a renter's insurance policy with AAA, but I hope I never have to use it.  I'm afraid someone will break in when my SIL and little niece are alone.  We'll have to see about a proper alarm system now.  Scary!

Too close for comfort, that's for sure!

Wow!  There was a lot of "conversating" going on around here today.  I'm sorry I missed out on it, but I was FINALLY shipping some bunny slippers and then enjoying myself SO much as I worked up some really cute squares for our Feb. Square Queen.  I have REALLY missed making squares.  I'm a happy camper today.  :)

I have two squares finished that need the tails weaved in and a third square started but not quite finished.  Tomorrow I'll be in substitute training all day so I'll be looking forward to sitting down with cshort's unfinished square when I get home.

Good morning all.  Hope everyone is safe and warm.  Skoggy, glad your little one is feeling a little better.  I may not have children, but I can guess that this is harder on you seeing what she has been going through and feelling helpless.  Soon both of you will be 100%!

Congrats on those that are expecting little bundles of joy!!!  I gotta say, I am envious.  I always thought before I turned 40 I would have children - - - that didn't work out!  Hopefully before I hit 55??!! lol.

For all that are getting all this snow, please be safe and warm.  I remember growing up in Northern Indiana and all the snowstorms we would have, including the Blizzard of 78!  The snow was up to our 1st story roof!!!  Can't say that I miss the snow.  Here in La, we have been having lots of storms, lots of rain and flooding.

I seem  to not have much time for crocheting lately, but I really need to finish up a few projects I have started.  My time is going to get even shorter as we are working to get our second and third church started down here (the second starts March 17 and the third we want to have started by September).  Lot of events coming and looks like in the next few months (hopefully!) will be starting another part time job.  I also need to get back to studying so I can get my Paralegal degree, but it has been put to the side.  Good thing it is online classes so I am not getting behind!

Everyone have a blessed day and may many puffies be coming your way!

Well we had rain, sleet AND snow all at the same time! Crazy!

Now it is 'just' snow! Heavy wet and thick.

Looks pretty but of course I'm still inside at work, haven't had to be out driving in it yet!

Stay safe everyone!

Of course, no snow down here in Houston... though northern TX got a blizzard warning and a few inches yesterday.  I'll get my share this weekend when I go to Nebraska for a very good friend's wedding.  I'm so so so excited.  This is the absolute best couple.  They are so wonderful together and I'm so happy my hubby and I get to go be a part of their special day! It's so nice to be a guest at a wedding this time!  Instead of planning the whole thing.  I definitely have a new respect and admiration for all the work that goes into a wedding.  I'm thrilled to be the guest this time!

Hi everybody.

Kuddlekubs sounds like you have great plans for a cold evening.

Kateyallen, you are being a big tease

MrsMcKee, enjoy the wedding.

I think I have 3 rows of squares put together and plan to put some more together tonight. I had planned to do some cleaning tonight but for some reason I feel really tired and the crocheting is less strenous than cleaning. lol.

Have a great night everyone.

I swear, every time I say I'll do something on a certain day, the universe works completely against me and I don't get done in time. So, sadly, Carol your squares didn't go out today.... But come fire or high water they will be in the mail tomorrow!  :remember

Hi lacey, feeling Better??

Yay for katyallen!  I decided that instead of saying I'm going to send out squares, I'll announce when they actually go out.  I swear I think there's someone actively keeping me too busy to send them.  Who am I kidding?  I'll end up announcing the next time I'm positive I have the time and then jinx myself again.  I won't do it... I won't do it... I won't do it...  :no
