Congratulations owlvamp! :yay  I will pledge 2 squares for our new :queen

AngelRoseLite and kuddlekubs, those are beautiful squares.

Beccalovely, prayers for your mil and family.

I’m still without a car. :(  I picked it from the mechanic about noon yesterday, drove for 10 to 15 minutes and it started giving me problems again, so back the garage we went. My dad is planning to go over today and tell them to change the fuel pump, he thinks that is the problem. They’ve had trouble pin pointing the problem because the car only acts up when I drive it.

I'm still in the sewing room working on some outfits for my granddaughter, I will post pics when they are finished.

Have a great day everyone!

soooooo back to the crochet I guess, errands are complete, supper is planned, and will be executed way later on, it's going to rain this aft...We'll have Spaghetti and meat ballies, yay.....

Im looking forward to that,oh and the rain too,  to cool things down a bit, it's very muggy here too, which I can very well live happily without however, it's been said, if you don't like the weather in Nebraska, wait a few minutes, it's bound to change!!!

Ran across this story, thought I would share it with you..

The Tablecloth

The brand-new pastor and his wife, newly assigned to their first ministry, to reopen a church in suburban Brooklyn, arrived in early October excited about their opportunities. When they saw their church, it was very run down and needed much work. They set a goal to have everything done in time to have their first service on Christmas Eve. They worked hard, repairing pews, plastering walls, painting, etc. and on Dec. 18 were ahead of schedule and just about finished. On Dec. 19 a terrible tempest--a driving rainstorm-- hit the area and lasted for two days.

On the 21st, the pastor went over to the church. His heart sank when he saw that the roof had leaked, causing a large area of plaster about 20 feet by 8 feet to fall off the front wall of the sanctuary just behind the pulpit, beginning about head high. The pastor cleaned up the mess on the floor, and not knowing what else to do but postpone the Christmas Eve service, headed home. On the way he noticed that a local business was having a flea market type sale for charity so he stopped in.

One of the items was a beautiful, handmade, ivory colored, crocheted tablecloth with exquisite work, fine colors and a Cross embroidered right in the center. It was just the right size to cover up the hole in the front wall. He bought it and headed back to the church.

By this time it had started to snow. An older woman running from the opposite direction was trying to catch the bus. She missed it. The pastor invited her to wait in the warm church for the next bus 45 minutes later.

She sat in a pew and paid no attention to the pastor while he got a ladder, hangers, etc., to put up the tablecloth as a wall tapestry. The pastor could hardly believe how beautiful it looked and it covered up the entire problem area.

Then he noticed the woman walking down the center aisle. Her face was like a sheet. "Pastor", she asked "where did you get that tablecloth?" The pastor explained. The woman asked him to check the lower right corner to see if the initials EBG were crocheted into it there. They were. These were the initials of the woman, and she had made this tablecloth 35 years before, in Austria.

The woman could hardly believe it as the pastor told how he had just gotten the tablecloth. The woman explained that before the war she and her husband were well-to-do people in Austria. When the Nazis came, she was forced to leave. Her husband was going to follow her the next week. She was captured, sent to prison and never saw her husband or her home again.

The pastor wanted to give her the tablecloth; but she made the pastor keep it for the church. The pastor insisted on driving her home, that was the least he could do. She lived on the other side of Staten Island and was only in Brooklyn for the day for a housecleaning job.

What a wonderful service they had on Christmas Eve. The church was almost full. The music and the spirit were great. At the end of the service, the pastor and his wife greeted everyone at the door and many said that they would return. One older man, whom the pastor recognized from the neighborhood, continued to sit in one of the pews and stare, and the pastor wondered why he wasn't leaving. The man asked him where he got the tablecloth on the front wall because it was identical to one that his wife had made years ago when they lived in Austria before the war and how could there be two tablecloths so much alike?

He told the pastor how the Nazis came, how he forced his wife to flee for her safety, and he was supposed to follow her, but he was arrested and put in a prison. he never saw his wife or his home again all the 35 years in between.

The pastor asked him if he would allow him to take him for a little ride. They drove to Staten Island and to the same house where the pastor had taken the woman three days earlier. He helped the man climb the three flights of stairs to the woman's apartment, knocked on the door and he saw the greatest Christmas reunion he could ever imagine.

Hi all! Just checking in.  I finally finished the pattern I was testing.  It went much easier when I made it in one color and really paid attention to my stitches, oh boy, sometimes I don't know about me, lol.

Thanks Ann!! That Sofia embroidery is awesome! Stitched out so nice! And of course the mickey/minnie ones, I've made tons and they are simple yet great!

Wish ya lived closer!

kuddles

It would be awesome if we lived closer!

Thank you grannyannie  :hug xx

Here are MY Becca squares! I told her teal and autumn colors like brown and she took me at my word! Beautiful squares! A package of buttons and bows (like the song?) and a cute strawberry fairy postcard that Kiddles has already claimed to tape up on her wall!

Thank you again Becca! You made my day!

kuddles

I was a good girl today, I walked through the yarn section at Joanns and only petted a few skeins even though bounce was 50% off....a double strand pink/white would be so very pretty wouldn't it?  :devil

Good morning Squares!

Rang up to find out about my rather depleted pay check... turns out they are going to stop paying me altogether in 3 days time, and I will get stat sick pay instead, which will be over £1000 a month less than my normal pay. They sent a letter to warn me about this over a month ago - but they decided to just send it to the hospital ward... how does that make sense when I'm signed off sick?? So not a very nice surprise for me. Not looking forward to breaking the news to my OH either. Ergh.

Anyway, so pleased to see another puffy arrived :) So glad you like them grannyannie  :clap

And Honex great to hear you got the part time job then? How lovely to work somewhere surrounded by pretties!

Oh meant to say - the blanket I washed survived the washing machine yay! Just awaiting the birth now (due date was yesterday) then I can send it off with a couple of other little baby bits :)

Katy - I can't make socks to save my life, I wish I could! But I did make an easy bootie pattern yesterday, I'll attach a pic, maybe they would do to go with your baby blankets? The pattern is free on Ravelry by Hayley M, and there are a couple of variations.

The Universe, at work eh!

This former Brooklynite enjoyed the Tablecloth story so much, thanks

:c9 I want to thank everyone for the wonderful squares....My total is 12 for my reign!!

becca...your bootie is cute but I can't do the up one side and down the other, I think I crochet too tight or something.

I made a decision of my brothers photos....I'm going to pick out the ones I like and put them together in a few books. I have all the negatives. Many know my brother died 3 years ago in July, he was ill his entire life, he was a wildlife photographer and taught me many things. He was much older than I and stood in as a father in many ways since mine was never around. I guess thats why I"m such a tomboy now! dh always says "Sue can do anything" LOL! Anyway I've been hemming and hawing over what to do with the 15+ boxes of photos, it's tough since I remember a lot of them since I was there much of the time since he was so sick. It's going to be a long journey for me but I've got to pull those big girl panties up and deal with it, even if I have to pull them up over my head!
