Granny squares 2nd annual Happy Birthday Friendship/Comfortghan

Recommended Posts

I am having both knees replaced.

Oh yes, I did read that, thank you pat, and wishing you goodluck and a great speedy recovery!

wow, nice squares up there! I too was a recipient of Angelroselite's talents! I received two 8 inchers , one in red, and one in (look away pineknot) the prettiest orange! And so soft! they smell good too, did you rinse them in downy or soemthing, yummy!!! You made them the exact way I am making my rainbow squares!! I have about 18 done of those so far, and know what, my camera needs a battery, but I will do that tomorrow, and pic them all! I did the same I think 6 rows ( or seven, don't remember now), and then a row of sc around to bring it up right to 8*, just like you did!! I will edge them with either a sc row again around all the ones I am going to put together, or a hdc row, I will play with that this evening!! I have several skeins of Heart Felt in my stash, that resembles a rainbow, i think that is what I will use!!  Thank you Maria!!! they are just what I wanted!!! :ty

It's so lovely! I'm just letting sit next to me and I look upon it frequently! Thanks again!

Yeah there could be many of us over there on the BAM!! So funny!

kuddles

Good to know.  I'll try to remember that so we don't all end up with the same patterns.  :lol  I'm really glad you like the square :)

Little embarrassed to say, when I first came to this post, I thought, oh those are lovely squares.  And then I read it and thought, Oh yeah, I made them, lol.  I'm glad you got them and you like them :)

Yes, I'm participating on the BAM too, though I haven't finished this square yet.  It's started, so hopefully this week!

Sorry, I've been missing this past week.  I've been very run down.  Some days even coming home and napping after work, which I don't normally do.  Hopefully, this week is better.  Everyone feel better, Pat, good luck.  Skoggy, how fun for you, getting a new home.  I really hope we can too by the end of the summer :)  Gotta go make some breakfast!

You sound exhausted!  I hope you start to feel more normal soon.  I do the same thing with squares.  Some have posted all their squares together and I can't pick mine out :lol

I got this lovely square in the mail yesterday from AngelRoseLite!!  The picture doesn't come near to doing it justice; it's very lovely!  Thank you :hug

Wow, it seems like my squares arrived to most of their homes a lot sooner than I expected.  You're welcome :hug

Oh how pretty! Which pattern is that AngelRoseLite?

kuddles

It's the Vintage Lace Square by Margret Wilson.  It was surprisingly easy and quick.

Oh yes, I did read that, thank you pat, and wishing you goodluck and a great speedy recovery!

Yours are the squares I was most worried about because I wanted to make something more elaborate.  For a single-colored square, it was the most practical to make, but I am still playing with other patterns.  I still have plans to send you other squares in other patterns, but if that's the pattern you prefer, I'll make them the same but in other colors.  That orange is a vintage yarn.  Can you believe it?  I was gifted a whole bag of vintage yarn by my SIL that found it at a yard sale.  Now, the smell comes from all the squares being laundered before I sent them to their new homes.  I wanted them blocked, and some where I used RHSS were not soft.  So into the washer they went.  I love that idea of using the rainbow skein to put them all together.  It's going to look great!

oh yes I do love them, but any pattern is fine with me, gives it more interest, or do the same, it's your choice, Im just so grateful to get some squares in the first place, and Im not at all stuck on any one pattern, or anything, I just meant, how cool, mine were done the same way!! lol Great Minds Think ALike, or sometimes, it's dumb luck, right! ha. ANyway, yes, will photo them tomorrow, working this eveing on getting the edging on the ones I have, but you will recognize yours, as they are the only solid color ones, lol    Thank you again, how nice to wash them, it sure made them soft and smell pretty!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and have a great day today!!!  I haven't been able to touch my hook in about two weeks now, been so busy with everything going on.  Feel like I have lost my best friend!!!  Hopefully, with my pastor going out of town for the weekend, I can get a few things done up!  No church events this week - all I have to do it get some things prepared for him to take with him! After that,  I can rest and get some hooking done!!!!

Hello all! :)  Thinking about working on my sons blanket some more, since I can't pack anything else forthe hospital until were ready to run out the door. *shrugs* I have a feeling I'll be the only one staying calm on the way and while we're there. :lol  Thankfully, I even have my yarn bag ready! I got it ready last night when I was re-organizing, getting some of it put into another bag for future use, thread was the exception! :D

But, I'm going to get to work on that, and I shall see you all later. Hope you are all having a great start to your weeks and :hug s for all!

OK ladies...I'm back...Wrist and hand healed nicely and I'm ready to hit the hooks...Have had a few other issues addressed...

Finally got xrays and MRI of my aching back...I've hyad chronic lower back pain for over 30 years and all the docs I've gone to just want to put me on meds...Finally with new Primary who sent me to a spine specialist I was able to get some relief after getting

an epidural injection in my lumbar sacral region...I feel so good that I feel like something is wrong...or should I say something is missing...Specialist said if this doesn't work then it will be surgery for me...Had injection a week ago...so far so good...I go back to

see him on Thurs 3/21...Next Tuesday I go to GI Doc to have my stomach lesions removed...soooo I should be fit as a fiddle by the end of that week...

So glad to know that this is still an active thread...I can't wait to get back in the groove...It will be slow at first as I have a few commitments to follow thru on...

Would someone kindly PM me the info for the March Biggest Square so I can get reved up???  Thanks all...It's great to be back...

That afghan is going to be fun and stunning!  What pattern did you use for the yellow square?  It's simple yet catches the eye right away.  You are going to finish the afghan almost all by yourself!  lol

Who in this group likes orange?  I can take requests so I use up the skein.  Once it's gone, it's gone because it's vintage.  I think Kuddles might like one.  Let me know if you do, Kuddles.  Anyone else, just tell me the size, and I'll make it.

I visited a cousin today.  I am relieved that he was alert and talkative when I arrived.  He's refusing to let the chondrosarcoma depress him.  He had most of the right leg amputated a few months ago, and today some tumors were removed from the groin area.  It's not looking good.  I hope to God we have more than just months with him.  He's only 43 years old.  All we can do is pray.

I'm off to prepare for my sister's stay while she recovers from surgery.  It's all work, work, work.  At least it keeps the mind busy.

:hug

Hello from a box filled, cluttered and unorganized house in the UK! :hi:D

We are all moved in now and now have the mammoth task of unpacking and finding homes for everything to do. The move went fantastically and there was only one casualty... a wheel got broken off of my yarn storage cart. :( so that's now become a standing unit rather than something to wheel around. :lol

I god you are all well. I'm looking forward to our internet being installed tomorrow. It's annoying trying to keep up with the forum on a cell. :D

:hug to all

Hi Emma, glad you are installed in your new digs!!! so to speak.....Now the mammoth task or organizing, sorting, putting away, moving around, and just plain working to get it YOUR way! It all comes together, eventually! I remember several years ago, moving in here, I had one week to get things oranized, and put away, as my sister from Idaho, was coming for a visit..

The morning of the day she was arriving on a four o clock flight, I was busy "hanging " my bedroom, you know, things on the walls etc, and the guest room was still full of bins and boxes, but......we just pushed them to the wall, and brought out the blow up bed, and things were fine! With two little ones, you have your hands full m'dear, so good luck, take your time, it waits for ya!! lol

andbefore I forget again....

Happy Birthday LACEY!!!!!!!!! better late than never!!!!!!!!!

Happy birthday, Lacey! Wow, I've got a lot to catch up on! Could have sworn I hadn't been off THAT long.... today was pretty crazy at work though.

Katie, that afghan is going to be GORGEOUS!  :yay I'm so glad I started my own rainbow one now! Though now I'm wishing I was doing smaller squares like that instead of one big one so I could see the rainbow spread out more! :lol

Good job on being all moved in, Skoggy! Organizing... heh... we've been here over five years now and there are still boxes in the shed we haven't properly unpacked. ^_^;; I did just move almost ALL my yarn into one place in the office, which is helping the congestion in our bedroom a bit.

Ack! I was going to say more but StayFocusd just told me it was going to start blocking sites in 5 minutes! (I set it up that way to "encourage" myself to get to bed on time... it does help!"

Good morning everyone! Just dropping in before I go to my (other) dr appointment.

Katy, beautiful squares! They're so bright and pretty! It almost makes me want to do a rainbow themed 'ghan. (Actually, I would, but I can't look at super-bright colors for very long. Never did figure out why. LOL)

Skoggy, glad to hear that you've gotten all of your stuff moved in! Now to just get setteled and unpacked. I hope you have fun with that, but don't overwealm yourself at the same time!

Well ladies, I'm off for now. Think I'm going to crochet some more until it's time to get going. Hope you all have a wonderful day! :hug s
