Lacy Wings doily

This is another one from Aly Hymel's Magic Wings set. There are supposed to be little flowers joining the butterlies together but they weren't turning out well so I just added a row of white to tie it all together. It's about 12 inches in diameter, though the patterns says 14 inches. I guess I work smaller stitches than average.

Yes, I just sprayed them heavily with spray starch and they seem to be standing up pretty well. I thought I would have to sort of prop them up while the starch dried but I just sort of "fluffed" them up and they are staying well so far.

That is lovely! I think your version is perfect, simple and elegant. I haven't seen the original pattern but I think flowers would take away from the effect of the pretty butterflies.
