WOW! They all look great!

Here's mine. I decided not to add another pocket to the other side. If I need one I will add it later. Right now it's all I need.

I love it! The colors look amazing!

What pattern did you use for the hook case? I should really make one of those some day.

I think the Med. Blue color has won out over the Amethyst as the contrasting color for my tote/bag. :lol Thanks for helping me make that tough decision! :ghug:)

Amy! (slicer) - if you need a pattern for a hook case, here's some links for you to look at:

http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/lffunt/alhookcase.htm

http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/lffunt/longhookcase.html

http://home.inreach.com/marthac/needle.html (has links for more cases/holders)

This case is my favorite pattern especially after I tweaked/adapted it to my needs/wants (& I didn't make the flower to put on the case either :lol ):

BTW - I forgot to ask earlier but is anyone planning on making the Ninth Pocket to go along with the tote? The "Ninth Pocket" pattern is in Margaret's book and measures 4-1/2" x 6-3/4" (11.5 x 17 cm). It's just a cute little pouch type bag made with the same stitch as the tote.

Clare, thanks for the handles website. I'm always in the hunt for new and fun handles. I am in a purse making phase right now!

Cheryl, the pattern at Sarahann's is my favorite as well. I don't do the flower either. It's a great versatile pattern!

I'll probably start on the second tote today since the yarn came yesterday. I need to finish the shawl I'm working on before I start the bag. Too many WIPs might give me a headache!!!

oh talking of bags i found this great aussie website

i went to the stitches and craft show yesterday and had a great time

i got timber bag handles for $10 :woo and this is their website http://www.quilterscabin.biz/default.php

That's a terrific site - makes me want to get busy at my sewing machine again!

Saw the purse handles...curious - that's an Aussie site. How does the USD compare to that?

Stephanie and Renee--loved seeing your finished product! I'm getting closer!

Last night I started piecing things together, and...ugh! It's really not fun to crochet through all those layers, especially with the smaller hook! I did get the body of the bag put together, and I have one side pocket sew on...but the rest will have to wait until tonight. This part is going much more slowly than I'd like!

Just thinking about the reinforced bottom...

If you use plastic canvas, or a thick piece of cardboard, you could cover it with fabric on both sides, and just place it in the bottom of the bag when it is all finished to give extra support. I have several overnight bags that used this same concept, so it can be lifted to make the bag easier to fold up for storage. I might make mine this way, since it's for my mom, and she'll be using it for bingo.

That's a fabulous idea! :cheer

Wow great work on all the bags! Finished and unfinished!:cheer I think I should be able to finish mine this weekend. I hope. I would like to.

Oh thanks for the links to the hook cases. I really need a better one then just a dollar store zipper plastic bag where everything is tossed in... I like the one with the flower (but I don't do that either) because theres a place for everything (

Well, besides getting a birthday present done, I think I have the time I can dedicate to this if I can figure out which colors I want to use. I have more than enough black for the MC, but I don't know what color would look best with it. Any ideas, suggestions?

Depends on your favorite colors...I'm using red as my MC and black for CC. Purple would look great with black - or a varigated, deep color so it doesn't get lost alongside the black. Black is your MC?

You could do white. Make it simple, black and white. I did my Ripple Bag in black and gray and love it for an everday purse (the white would have turned gray anyway:blush ). Do you like black and pink? Yesterday I wore a skirt that's black and tan and I like those colors together too. There was a picture posted ealier of black and yellow and it looked great together. Maybe see what you have in your stash and go from there.

Yeah, I'll probably end up using the black for MC...I'm trying to use up some stash and I don't have any other use for the black right now so I was going to make a big bag or purse with it anyway. Right now I'm trying to picture how it would look with Aran Fleck as the CC. I did the opposite (AF as my MC and black as the CC) for a book tote and it worked out well.

I think I would look great with Aran Fleck as the CC, that goes so well with anything. The seaspray came today, for my contrast, and I'm finished the Stripes! afghan, so now this will be my main project for tv time.

Cheryl I didnt know there was another purse with the same pattern. Sounds very interesting.

It's just a small clutch/purse that's meant to go along with the 8-pocket tote, Wendy - it kind of looks like a big envelope with a button on it. The pattern for it is in the same book so it's not a free pattern but if you don't want to buy the book, you might want to check with your local library to see if they have it or can interloan it for you from another library.

I bought the book because there are some other patterns in it that I'd like to try making if/when I get the chance. You can also go to Amazon.com to look inside the book to get some idea of all the patterns that are in the book if you want. :)

HTH! :hook

I am giving it away...I hope the recepient likes it. A person just never knows these days :lol

If they don't, tell them to send it to me! A girl can never have too many totes or purses!
