Good Morning, House. :) I hope everyone is having a good weekend. :yes

Valerie ~ :cheer Congratulations on finishing the tedious weaving! I can't wait to see the finished ghan. :hook

Cindy ~ Your Saturday sounds so nice. It's great that you have places close enough for day trips!

Marlene ~ Enjoy your visit with DD and Maya. :manyheart Walking with Maya in the parade sounds wonderful!

Joanne ~ Yay for winning the raffle! :clap I love Vera Bradley products - one of my crochet bags is one of hers and it's my favorite. Send some rain down here, please. :D

Marisa ~ You know we're all anxious to hear about your date! 'Hope your weekend is going well. :)

Hi to those I've missed. :hi

LB ( for "little bird") is doing good. We're feeding him baby bird formula from a syringe and he's always hungry. :lol

DD and Luke are on their way over...we have his wading pool out and I've just made a pasta salad for lunch. Have a great day!

hi, ladies!

Val - we're not doing anything special. We ran around alot yesterday, but today will take it easy. Vry humid out there and it's already poured once this AM, so not the best weather for outside activities - though I did take Lucy for a short walk earlier.

Joanne, what a great raffle win!!:clap

Mary, when we have bird nests in our yard I see the parents constantly flying back and forth feeding their little ones. The chicks always have their mouth open.

The other day traffic was stopped so a pair of adult geese could escort their baby across a 4 lane road! So adorable, esp watching th eparent who was bringing up the rear when it lowered its head to check on the gosling.:c9

Dh and I drove over to Ludington state park today, (about a two hour drive), and did a little hiking and had a picnic. After dinner we went into the town and walked around there a bit. Its one of the nicest state parks I've ever been to, it has a gorgeous beach, lots of hiking trails, many of which are paved. There is a river for tubing and a small lake (Hamlin Lake), as well as Lake Michigan for swimming. It was chilly there, but lots of people were tubing on the river. There were even some people in Lake Michigan, but they must have been freezing. The water in Lake Michigan is never warm.

what a great place to visit! Is Lake Michigan very deep? I was wondering why it's always cold....

Not much on the agenda today...straightened up a little and now will get some hook time. I used up the crayons color of yarn and am now making squares with the royal blue. Not sure how many I need to make but it won't be too much....

Have a great day!:hug:manyheart

Good afternoon housemates,

Marlene - Thanks. Have fun with Maya and DD. It's good that you get to walk in the parade with her.

Joanne - Glad you're having some relaxing fun. I watched the Celtics/Philly game as well. Congrats on winning the raffle. Have fun relaxing today.

Cindy - That park sounds wonderful. Enjoy your day. Make sure you take time to relax since you have to work tomorrow.

Judy - It's in the 90s here and humid. Enjoy your relaxing hooking time.

Mary - Thanks. I'll try to get some pictures up soon.

We have a goose family that lives on the little lake at the front of the apartment complex. They walk around the complex as if they own it.

I'm getting ready to leave for my cousin's birthday/graduation party.

Wishing everyone in the house a great day and rest of the weekend.

Just quickly dropping by to say hi. It was a hot sticky day here today, but there was a nice breeze so it was not as bad as it could have been.

Judy, I'm not sure why Lake Michigan is always cold, I just know it is.

Interesting that geese should be brought up today. We were out and about and saw a pair of geese with three little ones walking across the road today.

Work for me tomorrow and then I am having the in-laws over for dinner, so I may not have time to check in tomorrow.

Good morning!

Happy Memorial Day (where is a flag smiley when you need it?)

Thanks to all who have served, are serving or who have family/ friends who served to keep our country free!!!

Heading to DD's this afternoon for a Bar-B-Que! Thankfully, the sun is shining- although it is a bit humid, IMO---but it's not rain!!!!!

Enjoy your day everyone!!!!

Good morning. I'm on call for work, so I get to sit around and relax this morning. They did not think they would need me, but in intensive care anything can (and does) happen.

Its humid here and supposed to be quite warm later on, but not bad at the moment.

We are having a bunch of people over for a barbecue this evening. I'm doing very easy food: burgers, hot dogs, watermelon, chips, baked beans and veggies and dip.

Good morning/afternoon housemates,

Cindy - I hope you don't have to go in to work. Enjoy your evening with your in-laws.

Joanne - Have a great time at the BBQ.

I had a great time at my cousin's BD/Graduation celebration. We did not get home until after midnight. We have guest from Alabama quite a few friends from Georgia that migrated from Bama years ago. Good food and family fun.

We're meeting my youngest sister in Anniston, Alabama. She called and said she was BBQing and cooking dinner for us and would meet us in Anniston. It's just a little bit over half way for us but the usual meeting place when meeting the Alabama crew without either party having to go all the way. Gotta love family.

Have a great day housemates... I love you guys!!!

something interesting Miss Lucy did this morning -

Every year at 9 AM on Memorial Day an honor guard enters the small cemetery just over our back fence and they let off a volley of rifle rounds, followed by taps.

Well, Lucy and Sparkie were chewing their toys outside while hubby read the paper...then the shots went off.

Sparkie ran for the door to go back inside....and Lucy ran TOWARD the fence to see where the shots were coming from!

Her daddy IS a K-9 officer.....sooooo proud of her:c9

Have a good one and stay cool.

Good afternoon ladies :hi

I didn't even take notes today, sorry :( Let's see. Well, the date went well....at least I think so anyways. We went for a bite before the game, then the game, and then to the bar until about 2 AM! :eek I must say he was very nice and we did have a lot of fun. So, now to see what happens :shrug:lol I'm going to Tampa on Thurs til Tues and he's going to Vegas Fri to Mon :lol

The river house was a lot of fun. I got up there Friday afternoon and the pool was freezing, they were pumping up the heat to warm it up. Brad's parents and sister came down a while after I got there and they put 2 boats in the water at the dock, so we went for a boat ride but it was getting late and starting to cool off a bit. It was just Brad, Cynthia and me staying over night. So in the morning we went out on the boat and they took turns water skiing, so I attempted it but I couldn't even get up!!! :rofl It was pretty funny, but I had fun trying anyways :shrug Then Cynthias other friend came up for the day with her dh and dd. We did some boating and tubing and then I left to head home to get ready for my date. I went back to the river house Sun morning and Cynthias parents were there with her sister and niece. We did more boating and tubing, them water skiing and just hanging out. In the afternoon more of Brad's family came down too (it's his family's house) since they decided to have a day with everyone and it started to storm so we had to cover the boats and get undercover. We used that time to cook dinner and then the rain stopped but there was still intermittent thunder and lightening so we started a fire and roasted marshmallows (julie :wink I hope you don't miss that when you get back :lol ) Anyways don't get too excited, all the guys in attendance were already taken or just teenage kids!!! But we did have some smores. Everyone left as Brad's cousin and his wife got there and they stayed the night so we hung out by the fire until about midnight chatting and telling stories. I got up and left before anyone else had surfaced yet and came to work to see 2 patients this morning :yay They are both returning patients :clap

Now I'm super tired and need to get home to do some laundry, shower, and crochet.....I'm pretty sure at this point that the afghan is not getting done :think

I'm meeting a friend for dinner later on and we're trying to decide what to get :think

Tomorrow I have tix for the Pirates game again and am going with Bob, the last guy I went out with that I met at the opening game and we just decided to be friends. Oh boy what else?!?! That's all I can think of right now and I'm going to skip out on individuals so I can get moving, but I'll be back tomorrow :hug I hope you all have a wonderful holiday :hug

Hi everyone. :) Sounds like lots of activities going on for the holiday! We're home for the day and not even cooking for a change. :D DD and her DH took Luke swimming with a picnic afterward. I'll bet he takes a good nap today. :lol

Judy ~ Your crayons/royal blue ghan will be so bright and happy! Looking forward to pictures. :yes Lucy is one smart girl! I'm afraid Gracie would have just been barking her head off...she looks up and barks at thunder! :lol

Valerie ~ What fun to go get your barbecue and see your sister, too! That is so sweet of her. :) I'm glad you had a great day yesterday.

Cindy ~ Enjoy your evening with family. I still love good old fashioned picnics with burgers and hot dogs. My DH is always asked to make his potato salad. Yum!

Joanne ~ So glad you're having a sunny day!

Linda ~ I hope you're having some "you time" this weekend! :manyheart

Marisa ~ Wow! Your schedule makes me tired. :lol I'm glad your date went well.:yes Yay for two appointments today! :cheer

I plan to crochet this afternoon.:hook I want to finish the current scarf and then I will have 5 to send together. I need to get back to the blue and green ripple ghan, too.

Have a good afternoon!

Hi Ladies,

Cindy, Sounds like a nice time with DH yesterday. Your cookout sounds yummy! Enjoy your day!

Val, How nice to meet up half way with your sister and have a cookout. Glad you got to see lots of family and friends at the party yesterday. Enjoy your day!

Judy, Your ghan is going to be so pretty.

Joanne, Congrats on your raffle winnngs! Enjoy your day of relaxing at the cookout.

Mary, Enjoy your day crocheting.

Marisa, Sounds like a nice fun date. The cabin sounds like a lot of fun. For years we use to always have company on the holidays and weekends (we live on a lake), but not any more. Once in awhile I miss all the doings. It started being more work for us than it was enjoyment.

Linda, Hope you have the weekend off and having a fun time with Rosie.

Maya and I did the parade. First time for both of us. I was glad to see the end of the route. She was the only one in her troop to show up. Her leader was somewhere else in the parade. I didn't think that was right. Maybe that's why the other girls didn't particpate. We walked with the junior girls. They had about 6 girls and 2 adults. It was an enjoyable time with them and it did go pretty fast.

Maya is wanting to go swimming at the pool, but were going to make cupcakes first and taco salad for dinner. Hubby is napping and DD is at work. Catch you all later.

Good morning. I never did end up going to work yesterday. (Work tomorrow though...) I went to the grocery store instead and bought stuff to make a fruit salad and a tossed salad for dinner last night. (I wouldn't have been that ambitious if I'd worked all day!) DD and I also went to Penneys and she bought a bathing suit.

No big plans for today, just some laundry (never ending, even in my small household), and some cleaning. It rained quite a bit last night, but I will be going out to do some weeding after it dries up a bit. I try to do 15 minutes a day, in the hopes that eventually I will be able to maintain the gardens in that amount of time. My back isn't up to much more. It was 95 here yesterday, so I did not weed.

Val, congratulations on another blanket order. Hope you enjoy making them!

Marisa, your weekend sounded very busy. Glad to hear the date went well.

Good morning ladies :hi

Well, after I left yesterday I went home and showered, did 3 loads of laundry, met a friend for dinner, and crocheted while watching the Miami/Boston basketball game. Now I'm at work and I brought my ghan to work on which I'll get to when I'm done here :yes I'm going to head out to my friend's office around 11:30ish so I can get MY treatment :lol I'm so sore from the weekend it's not even funny :eek I have a patient in the afternoon and then the Pirates game tonight :whew

Mary - How did you make out with your hook time yesterday?

Marlene - Oooo, what kind of cupcakes did you make? I'm glad Maya at least got to be in the parade still, even without everyone else :shrug It definitely is a lot of work to keep a lake house up and running!

Joanne - Sorry the weekend went so quickly, but at least you had time to spend with your dd's and Ryan....did you snap any pics of him splashing in his little pool?

Judy - I'll keep plugging away on this ghan as I can and see where I end up, but I'm sure I'll be mailing it out when its done :lol I hope ds enjoyed his vacation, we all need them :yes I've always had more guy friends than girl friends...girls can be so mean and two faced, but not so much anymore at this point as it used to be when I was younger :think

Val - :yay on the blanket order, what kind is this one?

Cindy - It was 93 here yesterday :eek The fruit and tossed salads sound very refreshing with this weather.

Be back a bit later.

Hi House. :)

Marlene ~ It's so nice that Maya and her grandma were able to represent her troop! :manyheart Taco salad sounds yummy...may be our dinner tonight!

Judy ~ I agree. :lol I'm ready for a more normal day, too. Although feeding little bird every 3-4 hours was DH's job over the weekend and that sure helped. :yes

Valerie ~ Congratulations on another blanket order! :cheer

Cindy ~ Good for you for having yesterday off! Did you have lots of company?

Marisa ~ No wonder you're so sore - water skiing is very tiring! :D

Hi to everyone at the House. :waving

I still have about 1/3 of the scarf to go, but made some progress yesterday. We had strong storms last night, but thankfully no damage here. And we desperately needed the rain!

Time to feed little bird and then grocery shopping. Have a good morning, friends. :manyheart

Good afternoon everyone. The weekend was a mixed bag for me. Saturday morning John told me that he wanted everything on the list done before I left the house, "It shouldn't take you longer than half an hour." 3 1/2 hours later it was finally done. I went to Thread Bear and bought material for a Project Linus quilt in primary and secondary colors. Then had supper at Rosie & John's daughter's house and helped the two little girls with their crocheting. I got Megan started on a skinny scarf she wants to make for her mom. She's using Sugar and Spice cotton yarn this time and having really good results. I'm having her count her stitches at the end of each row so she knows if she's accidently increased and taught her how to spot and fix the mistake on the next pass. Her concentration amazes me. She's just 6.

Saturday, John had another list for me. This one only took 1 1/2 hours to do. Rosie and I then went to the Outlet Mall about 20 miles north of here. She didn't find anything, but I DID!!! I guess it's safe to say that I'm decorating the new apartment in bright, bold colors. I got lavendar towels for the bathroom with big bold purple, green, and turquoise butterflies on them. Utensils for the kitchen with purple handles, and burnt orange sheets to go with my green bedspread in the bedroom. Also got 10 new tops mostly in bright, bold colors for me in a size smaller.

Sunday I didn't have to do anything for John so took off for Marietta (30 miles south) to go to the Memorial Day Sale at the Classy Flea. I found a lovely French Provincial 9 drawer chest of drawers and a country farmhouse table to use as my computer and crafting table. I also got 2 dragons and a turquoise and silver necklace and matching earrings. The guy said it would never fit in my little Ford Escort Hatchback but both pieces went in, one on one trip and the second on the next trip. Rosie and John thought they were wonderful. Kim's John thought I was inconsiderate and thoughtless to be buying more things that I'll have to move. I should have waited until I was already moved in before buying them. They are currently in Rosie and John's garage as Kim's John doesn't want them here. I think I'll rent a storage unit for a couple months and put as much of my stuff in there as possible until time to move. Then he doesn't have to worry about it being in the way if someone wants to look at the house or under the house.

He's had one couple look at it so far.

Sorry to spout off, but I'm upset! He couldn't even pretend to be happy for me that I found something that I liked. Of course, it means I'm really NOT going to take some things off his hands that he doesn't really want to move to Texas, but doesn't want to sell either. I don't LIKE or WANT those pieces. Thanks, but no thanks.

Linda ~ You have every reason to be upset! :hug You must be counting the days (hours, minutes...) until you move. Maybe getting a storage building would give him one less thing to gripe about, but he'll probably just come up with something else. :( Your bright colored towels and kitchen things sound so fun! And the dresser and table sound perfect! :cheer Before long, you'll be on vacation and then it will be almost time to move. Meanwhile, I hope you have some time to relax and crochet. :manyheart

Thanks Cindy, Mary and Marisa. This blanket is for a student attending Albany State in South Georgia. Their colors are blue and gold. The major part of the blanket is blue with her name going down the left hand side in gold. It will also have a gold stripe every 30th row until it's finished and of course trimmed in gold.

Linda, I'm sorry you're having to deal with satan. Just remember those things that doesn't kill us makes us stronger. You'll be out of there before you know it. I think the rental of a storage unit is a great idea. The description of you newly acquisitions sound beautiful. Hold your head up and we're here for you:hug.

Waiting on my sister to go to Hobby Lobby!

Oh my Linda-- Kim's John is surely a piece of work. I'm so happy that you are finding such great deals and great pieces to furnish YOUR home!! Love the idea of purple! And the orange and green-- such happy, bright colors!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!! :manyheart In a few weeks you'll be off to see your DD and GS and then in a few more short weeks after that- adios tyrant John and Hello brand new life!!!!! :clap

Busy day at work today! I know, what else is new?:lol:lol

Hot as Hades here today as Judy would say and it was hot at work until the AC really kicked in around 10--it had been off for 3 days!

My middle DD's BF and brothers offered to help open the pool and may be coming this weekend to do that. But just in case something comes up, DH made an appointment with a pool company to do it on 6/15....so the pool will either be opened this weekend or not till 6/15- which is fine by me. As long as I'm the one that doesn't have to do it, all's good. I don't mind keeping it up since we have an automatic vacuum cleaner- DH just puts it in and it goes around the pool and then we just check the chemicals to make sure the pH is good. Since we don't have any trees by the pool, it really is fairly easy. The hardest part is opening it up and closing it down.

I would really just as soon sell the pool (or give it away) and then put a gazebo or something in its spot- but everyone keeps asking when are you opening the pool--especially DD who can't wait to bring Ryan into the pool. So we'll have it at least another year! :lol

Stay cool everyone - looks like a line of storms might be coming through tonight. Eeek.

At least my goddaughter and her dad are back from Africa all in one piece... and our DS doesn't fly home till late tomorrow afternoon, from St. Martin

Joanne - you'll love being in the pool with Ryan!!:clap

...and isn't it false economy to turn off the office's AC completely for the weekend. I would think it would have to work harder to catch up:think

Have a good night everyone:hug:manyheart
