Good morning ladies :hi

I didn't know Wendy, but definitely sending her and her family prayers :hug

I talked to the kids on the ipad last night and they were running around and having a grand ol time :lol So, I'd venture to say my nephew's doing well :yes My brother got him a bow and arrow set (the kind with the darts that stick to the window) and they were all just loving it :manyheart

I worked on some squares last night and am now on the 6th :clap Also noticed that I'm only doing 12, not 20 so I'll be half way done :lol They are 12" so the ghan will end up 3'x4' which is good for a throw :yes So I don't feel the need to push myself to make more :lol:blush

I had a few things to deal with when I got in today :sigh But now that's taken care of, do I took a moment to check in and then I'm going to work out. And after my workout am rewarding myself with pizza and wings from across the street :lol I haven't tried them yet, but need to since they're my neighbors :yes I'm also meeting my sister and some friends out for dinner later to celebrate one of her coworkers bday that was a couple weeks ago. And today is Ingrid's birthday and I think we're celebrating on Sunday :clap

Linda - your quilt is gorgeous, I absolutely love all the color and how the black really makes it 'pop' :manyheart

Cindy - I hope you're enjoying your day in. Did you end up with alot of snow? We have flurries now, but nothing crazy.

Joanne - Look on the bright side....it's only your first day of work for the week and it's already hump day :lol And, by the time you read this...you'll only have 2 days left this week :yay

Mary - Oooo, I love getting a haircut...it always feel so nice and healthy :yes

I feel like I'm forgetting a hundred people today, but I didn't take notes so I'm sorry :(:hug

Hi all

I know, I am very behind once again . I'm really sorry that I just can't seem to stay on task with any regular system right now .

Too much going on again healthwise . I just wanted someone to talk to today. A VERY bad day ... week...month ...

It seems I have put too much trust in my doc that I have had for 10 years. She finally sent me to a neurologist for my migraines and he is wonderful, and I do think he may be able to help me at least in that area .

Other than that, everything else is up in the air . I needed past records from tests for the neurologist, and when I got them, I began reading through them and have found that my doc who I trusted so much has ordered tests and hasn't been truthful with the results , has ordered meds that I have taken MANY years that are potentially VERY dangerous . I have also had a continual BP drop til it reached 97/58 .... she never did anything about it,so I had to call my old kidney guy (who she said I no longer needed ).

He tells me I have stage 3 kidney disease ,has taken me completely off bp meds because they were damaging my already damaged kidneys.

I found out that I may have never had high bp that was just THERE ... it may have only gotten high during times of stress or migraines, etc ,so I found I have been taking un-needed bp meds for several years .

After reading all the tests, etc, she hasn't ever completely told me the truth .

Today I went to a new doc,(recommended by a nurse ) and he is barking up a totally different tree, wants me to have a gazillion more tests ,and mentioned possibly Lupus or some such illness. He also said the stomach meds I have taken for 10 years ( my old doc) have severely bad long-term side effects .

I now have too many cooks in the kitchen, they are all cooking a different meal, and none of it goes together .

I have so many different answers from so many Dr's and no clue who is right or who to trust .

The doc I went to today,it was Instant Dislike ,if there is such a thing . Too gruff, bossy, you will do things MY way or you won't be my patient ...

So I am left now not knowing who to trust, what route to take next ,or what move to make .

The doc's office today already faxed my old doc and asked for all my records. I asked them to PLEASE not do that yet, until I had gotten to know this guy to see if I like him and want to keep going,BUT they already sent the fax ,and my old doc refuses to take patients back who leave her office to go elsewhere .

Anybody got any good ideas of what route to take at this point ?

I can't go back to my old doc, I dont like the new one .

I have a specialist for kidneys, lungs, arthritis, migraines, mammograms ,but no family doc.

Sorry to come on and moan. I just dont know where to turn or what move to make next . :(

I NEED YARN ...... this is all worse because my hands get nervous, I get nervous and I HAVE to have something to do with my hands.

The cross stitch just does not cut it ...no matter how often I try, I really just don't enjoy it as much as yarn type crafts .

I am SO SAD . :worried:blink:cry

Oh Julie :hug :hug :hug

I was just starting to wonder about you again too, you must have read my mind. This is horrible and of course we're ALWAYS here for you. I suggest you try a third doc and keep going down the list until you find one that your comfortable and one that explains things to you and answers all your questions. If you don't like this new one, keep looking....and you shouldn't want to go back to the old one if they keep pumping you full of unnecessary meds, because every med has side effects and can cause other problems. Ask you specialists if they can recommend any good general practitioners and the way I like to ask the question is not for a referral, but who THEY would take their family members to :yes

I'll be praying for you and all this to work out :hug :hug :hug

Julie, I'm so sorry to hear about the mis-management of your health issues. I agree with Marisa, don't compromise on a doctor. The doctor you saw today may be competent, (nurses can generally pick out those who know what they are doing), but he doesn't sound like he is the best fit for you. Of course, I suppose he may grow on you as time progresses, but just in case he doesn't...... ask around to see what doctors are recommended by your friends. Your health insurance plan may have a website which includes a section where patients can rate physicians. Often it will also tell you if the physician is taking new patients.

As for crocheting, have you thought about trying to crochet with t-shirt yarn or fabric strips? You would be limited in what you could make, but you wouldn't have all those fibers floating around creating breathing problems. Years ago I made some really cute baskets out of fabric strips. These materials would limit you to making things like totes, trivets, baskets and such things, but maybe you would be able to crochet.

Here is a t-shirt yarn tutorial, I'm sure you could google for patterns and find lots. And here is some information about crocheting with fabric strips.

I also wonder if you could work with the new ruffle yarns or with ribbon yarn. I haven't tried either, but I saw my sister in law knitting with the ruffle yarn last week, and it looked more like flimsy fabric than like yarn. there did not appear to be any loose fibers to it. I think the ruffle yarn would be challenging to work with, but as I said, I haven't tried it, so I don't know for sure.

Oh, Julie, honey. :hug :hug :hug :hug What a lot to deal with. It's so hard sometimes to know what to do. I agree with Marisa and Cindy on continuing to look for a doctor that's a good fit for you. I know that can be a frustrating process, but you need someone that you can trust.

Do try the ribbon (yarn) with the crocheting. I've seen some really cool things made with it, but have only tried it out once. There were no loose fibers with it at all. I seem to recall seeing some thin cord or string that could be used in place of yarn, too. Don't remember just where I saw it, but that might also be an option.

You are in my prayers. :hug :hug :hug

Julie ~ Lots of hugs from me, too. :hug It took finding our family doctor about 6 years ago for us to realize what we hadn't had. I agree with everyone else - keep searching until you find someone you are comfortable with. I know it's easy for me to say...but not so easy to do. :manyheart

And please let us be a place to come when you need to talk. We're here for each other! :ghug

Picture of the beginning of the new quilt. I'm loving it. And a lot of the credit goes to you ladies. When I first joined Crochetville, I would never, ever have dared to change someone else's pattern and make it my own. Now I don't even think twice about it and I'm having a ball doing it. Thank you all for your encouragement and support. It means the world to me. :hug
that is beautiful!!!!!:clap

And I also love how we always encourage each other to try new things...:)

The RR is finished! I also worked on a scarf (WIP) last night. :)

Pictures????:D

I worked on some squares last night and am now on the 6th :clap Also noticed that I'm only doing 12, not 20 so I'll be half way done :lol They are 12" so the ghan will end up 3'x4' which is good for a throw :yes So I don't feel the need to push myself to make more :lol:blush

Good idea! Crocheting shouldn't equal pressure...

I feel like I'm forgetting a hundred people today, but I didn't take notes so I'm sorry :(:hug

I'm glad your nephew is feeling better....:)

Jules....I'm so sorry!

And your doctor won't take back patients who have left...HUH!:angry What HUBRIS!:angry From what you've said here it sounds like some actions are criminal, if not at least worthy of her losing her license to practice!

I second the advice others here have mentioned: get referrals (from a nurse if you can - they see and know all) and have another name in the wings just in case you have to keep looking.

Also, when DS was 2 yo I needed a urologist for hernia surgery for him. His pediatrician gave me some names to choose from and I was really confused.

Then I asked him who he would send HIS children to.

The look on his face was something I've never forgotten. He gave me a name and the doctor was perfect!

Please keep checking in here and let us know how your search is going.

And those alternative ideas Cindy had to using yarn sound perfect. I own a riboon scarf a SP crocheted for me a while back and it's wonderful.

Here is the Happy Round Ripple. I used Lyn's pattern and shamelessly used similar colors to one I saw on Google Images. :lol It's 46 inches point to point and I only had to buy one color! It seems like a good child size or lapghan size...or Gracie size!

I didn't know her, but remember seeing some of her posts and will definitely keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

Julie

So sorry to hear that you are having such troubles!!! There is NO WAY I would want to go back to my old doctor--especially if what you are finding out by looking at your test results is that she may have been mismanaging your health!!!

Agree with what Cindy, Marisa, Linda and others have said- about looking for a PCP that you can be comfortable with. I would ask one of my specialists who they would send their family member to. That's what I did when I was looking for a Pcp when I had a screening at work and found that by BP was very high. Turns out that I love my PCP and we were a very good fit. The doc you went to today may be very competent (agree with Cindy that nurses often know who the good ones are), but just not a good fit! I know who I'll go to if (heaven forbid) I ever need brain or spinal surgery--on the recommendation of my DD who works in the OR with lots of neurosurgeons!

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!! Please keep us posted- We all care very much about you!:hug:hug:hug:hug:hug:hug

Hi Ladies,

Tab, Great news that Elijah has turned. You have made him some really cute outfits.

Joanne, :clap for a nice and relaxing weekend with DD and her roommate. Lots of finishes you have accomplished lately.

Judy, Great pics of the kids.

Cindy, Pancakes are a hit with my grandkids and me to. Crafting or reading by the fireplace is the place to be when it's cold. We actually looked at a travel trailer that had a fireplace in it and 2 slideouts for the living area. I didn't like it though. They stuck the stove like in a closet without a door. No window or vent for it. It wasn't for me.

Mary, Congrats on the new iphone. I love your happy rr. Very colorful.

Marisa, Sounds like you had a nice relaxing weekend to. Glad things went well for your nephew.

Linda, Prayers for Linda. Hope everything goes well for her. Your quilt top is beautiful. The black makes all the squares stand out.

Thank you for the compliments, Ladies. :manyheart I loved working with the colors and using up some stash, too. Gracie really is a sweetie...most of the time. :lol After I took the pictures, she laid down and took a nap right in the middle of the ghan!

Hi Marlene!

I've been on Amazon (which can be dangerous ;)) and ordered a case for my iPhone and a couple of things for Little Guy.

Have a good evening, everyone. :manyheart

Didn't want to take any chances on losing what I had so I posted.

Julie, I have to agree with what the others said. Keep looking for the doctor that feels right for you. It's a shame your doctor has done what she has done with you. I think I would be talking to someone legally about this. If she is doing it to you there is probably more that she is playing with. She should be investigated if nothing else.

Sorry to read about Wendy's Mom passing.

Judy, Remember the solider you made an afghan for? Raphburn. His Grandpa died this week from cancer. It was lung cancer and inoperable. He lived a month after being diagnosed. The family has now lost there parents, a brother, a sister and there nephew (there hero) in the last 3 years.

The garage sale, bake sale and burrito sale was a success. Are car got hit last friday night while we were there. Someone in the park hit it. They had an antena you use to put on your house in the trunk of your car and it was dark and she backed into mine. Scratched it all up and put a little dent in it. Could of been much worse. We are meeting the adjuster friday so we should be getting it fixed soon.

Hubby is in bed sick and I have a cough and sinus thing going on.

I started the hearts for Maya's class yesterday. I picked up the yarn for GS (Zack's) flannelghan, but I think I'm going to take the red back and get like a burgandy color.

I found a craft project for us to make. It is sunflowers made out of water bottles. You paint them, slice the bottoms off and paint one of them brown to be used as the center of the sunflower. You cut the bottle in 12 strips, glue together and glue a stick on them and you have a sunflower.

The website I got it from is www.themakeyourownzone.blogspot.com/2011/10 She is from Grand Rapids, MI and seen this art prize (Cindy talked about going to this) and the lady shared how she made them.

I to have been wondering about Dusti. Hope she is just busy with the girls.

Hope everyone we haven't seen in awhile is all okay. Have a nice night everyone.

Marlene- Sorry to hear about the car being hit, but luckily it will be able to get fixed soon- and more importantly no one was hurt. Hope you and DH feel better quick!!!

Sounds like a cute project you'll be working on ! You sure do keep busy, busy, busy!!!

Speaking of busy--off i go to get ready for another day!! Have a good one everybody!

Good morning. I have a visit to the dentist scheduled today to get my permanent crown put on.

It is really cold here this morning, we got 4 or 5 inches of snow overnight and it is supposed to be bitterly cold for a few days now.

I am on a WIP marathon. I decided that I need to empty some of these baskets and bags that I have all over.

I finished a hat for DD last night, finally. I've been working on it for a few months, and am so relieved to have it finished. the entire thing was all SC or SS and it seemed to take forever. I like the hat, but I won't be making another one any time soon.

I also finished a baby sweater, hat and booties set for the pregnancy resource center this week. These have also been a WIP for several months.

Now I'm working on a jacket for myself, that I started back in September. I made the body and one sleeve back then, and put it away. Now I am halfway through the second sleeve, so maybe it will be a finish someday. I'm not so sure it will fit. Pretty much everything I've ever made in the way of clothing for myself has been too big, so I deliberately chose to make this a size smaller than I would ordinarily pick. Of course this time it seems to be coming out exactly on target! I thought for sure that I would get this one the right size, because my gauge was just a hair over the gauge of the pattern. I could get length, but not width, and since it was made from side to side, I figured that over the 100 or so rows , it would add a couple of inches, which would make it pretty much the perfect size. I guess I won't know for sure until I add the button band and edging. It won't be the first sweater that I made and ended up donating.

I will alternate this with a round baby blanket that I am making out of half skeins leftover from other projects. I definitely want this done by the end of the month, since it will be going to the pregnancy resource center, and our church is collecting for that charity this month. The blanket will be done when I run out of suitable yarn. I think two or three more rounds will do it.

Hi ladies

Thank you for all the backup support . Sorry to come in here and dump on you guys, but I really dont have many people to discuss this with . Sam has switched to a new doc already and likes him . I know this doc, and would probably also like him ,but his age is what kept me from going there. He is retirement age,so I didnt want to start all over new, then have to do it again in a year or 2 .

Regarding my old doc, it wouldnt be this hard if I didnt like her so much .We have really become more like friends than it being a business arrangement,so that makes it even worse .

She used to be really good, but seems to have been sliding quite a lot recently ,which makes it very hard to trust her advice, etc .

The guy yesterday is totally OUT . I can't ever remember meeting a doc I disliked so much ,so quickly . The reason I chose him is because it was a nurse who recommended him . He may be smart, but his bedside manner is about a 1 out of 10 . Bedside manner is one of the biggest things I like in a Dr .

I DID end up calling my old doc's office last night just to ask the office girl what the doc said ,and she said the doc told them if I EVER need to come back, that I am welcome . She said this has never happened before where someone pulled their chart, then was allowed back .

So, I guess I have a little bit of a safety net, even though it has some pretty big holes in it .

I am a wreck this morning. Sat here sobbing my eyes out .I'm so sick, so worried and so afraid . I can't even go anyplace today because I feel like any little thing will make me fall apart again,so it's best to stay home today and regroup .

I have to go to my neurologist tomorrow morning,so need to gather myself to go to yet another doc .I REALLY like him,so may ask him if he could weigh in on this as far as symptoms, what the guy yesterday said, and if he feels any of it is on target .

Anyhow, let me try to get off this and onto something else -

Thanks for mentioning the crocheting with cloth or material ,or maybe the ribbon yarn type stuff . I have kind of gotten used to no crocheting ,but there are still times when I wish I could do it just to keep myself more occupied . I may give something like that a try just to keep a hand in something .

Mary

Your happy blanket is very pretty and your pup is so cute . Wonder why pets always want to be in pictures ?

How is little Luke ?

Linda

your quilt is so very pretty ! Good luck getting your mams grammed -- one of my all-time favorite tests .. (NOT) but necessary .

Cindy

Thank you for the links to fabric type crocheting .The one looked neat, almost like those old rag rug things my grandma used to have . I may go get some things to give it a try tomorrow after the head doc. It can be my treat .

Marlene

I definitely have enough in all the paperwork I have here for a lawsuit ,but I doubt I could go through with it . It broke my heart to leave her office in the way it happened. I wanted to search for someone else, find one I liked and get established ,then go in and personally speak to the doc about why I was leaving . I know she has messed up a lot,but she has also been there for me during some really bad times .

Sorry your car got hit. I'm glad you guys werent in it and didnt get hurt !

Hope your flus or colds go away soon . The sunflower things you are making sound pretty. I couldnt see the link you sent .

Jude

So waddya got up your sleeve lately ? How's the new group going ? I need to jump in over there and catch up a bit .

Sam surprised me this week with a Kindle Fire.( early BD gift ) My gosh, it is so neat. Havent gotten a lot of time yet to learn all the gadgets but it is one amazing little thing .

Marisa

I saw a ways back that you got a few more patients. That is great. If I lived close, I'd come to you !

I'm guessing Tab hasn't yet had the baby. She should be mighty cloe by now .

Jude

Thanks for letting us know about Wendy's mom. I know they were so very close. Was it the cancer that finally got her ? I remembered she had it long ago ,but she seemed to fight it off for a good long while. How old was she,do you know ?

Well, guess I should stop yakking and do something like laundry . (yippee)

Will stop in again --

Julie, I think if you really like your old doc and she is willing to see you again, I would at least make an attempt to talk to her about the stuff the new guy said and your own concerns. Your old doc knows you well, and hopefully she will take your concerns seriously and explain her own rationale for what seems to be poor medical practice. She may be able to offer insight into her actions, even if she can't defend them. She may even have reasons for them that have to do with her personal knowledge of you. (i don't know the circumstances, so I don't know how likely this is.) The new guy was very critical, but he doesn't really know you. I also think speaking with the neurologist regarding all of this is a great idea.

Bedside manner is very important to me too, but I have a friend who is a nurse practitioner, who only cares about competence, and her doctor has the personality of an insect.(she admits that he is disagreeable, but she still goes to him.)

Dh got me a Kindle Fire back when they came out. I agree that it is a neat gadget. I still mostly use my Nook Color though. Dh uses the Kindle Fire more than I do. I'm glad I have both Nook and a Kindle though, Amazon often has better ebook prices, and they have more freebies as well.

And yes, Wendy's mom died from the cancer. It had recurred, and she had been in the hospital for the past few weeks. I don't remember her exact age, early 70's I think.

That makes it much harder for sure.

She used to be really good, but seems to have been sliding quite a lot recently ,which makes it very hard to trust her advice, etc .

There may be a reason, but it's hard to figure out what.

Bedside manner is more important than a lot of them think.

Mammogram is done. Thank goodness. Not the worst one I've ever had but certainly in the running for second place. Anyone who says they don't hurt is either a liar, a man, or someone who hasn't had one done!

Good afternoon ladies :hi

We had fun last night out to dinner, I had a chicken ceasar salad which was wonderful :yes I read a bit last night finishing the book I was reading. This morning I took my car of an oil change and it also needed a new filter for the engine so had them right take care of that too. The guy that waited on my was quite a cutie :blush:lol I went to a different Nissan place this time than I did last time because I wasn't happy with the other place last time although it's closer to work. However, the new place is only just under 7 miles from the house. I started a new book while waiting and I think I'm somewhere in the third chapter.

I forgot to mention yesterday on the topic of diagnostic reports. If I send a patient for a test such as x-ray, mri, ct scan, emg, etc I review it with the patient when I get the report back and have both of us sign or initial and date the report before it goes into the file and offer them a copy of it as well and answer any questions. I'm kind of OCD on that :lol

Mary - your RR is gorgeous and Gracie looks so cute 'guarding' it :lol

Joanne - Hoping you can get away without working on saturday :xfin

Marlene - WTG with the sales, but sorry about the car :hug At least no one was injured. I hope you and dh are feeling better soon.

Linda - Glad to hear your mammogram is done!!! :clap

Cindy - I hope the dentist is going well and without complication :xfin WTG on the finishing the hat and getting back to the sweater. Which reminds me about my sweater :blush

Julie - I think Cindy had a good suggestion of just talking with you doc and questioning her about findings and her reasonings for some of your prescriptions and such. Also talk to the neuologist tomorrow too. This is about your health and not your friendship, I hope that doesn't sound heartless, but you have to look out for yourself in the long run. :hug :hug And thanks, I'd take you in a heart beat as a patient :yes

Good morning. I have a visit to the dentist scheduled today to get my permanent crown put on. I hope there were no surprises!

I am on a WIP marathon. I decided that I need to empty some of these baskets and bags that I have all over.

Good for you!

My x stitch WIPs are still sitting there. It's hard because I have to sit in one spot in the house so I can have the best natural light or use a lamp I have. No sitting in the man cave to keep DH company when doing that:P

I finished a hat for DD last night, finally. I've been working on it for a few months, and am so relieved to have it finished. the entire thing was all SC or SS and it seemed to take forever. I like the hat, but I won't be making another one any time soon.

Yay for finishing!

I also finished a baby sweater, hat and booties set for the pregnancy resource center this week. These have also been a WIP for several months.

Wow! :clap

It won't be the first sweater that I made and ended up donating.

awwww:hug

I will alternate this with a round baby blanket that I am making out of half skeins leftover from other projects. I definitely want this done by the end of the month, since it will be going to the pregnancy resource center, and our church is collecting for that charity this month. The blanket will be done when I run out of suitable yarn. I think two or three more rounds will do it.

That should be cute!

I have to go to my neurologist tomorrow morning,so need to gather myself to go to yet another doc .I REALLY like him,so may ask him if he could weigh in on this as far as symptoms, what the guy yesterday said, and if he feels any of it is on target . Good...write down your questions, too!

So waddya got up your sleeve lately ? How's the new group going ? I need to jump in over there and catch up a bit . The group goes in fits and starts. I put in an appearance every day, but I'm not really the cheerleader type, so we'll see how it goes.

Sam surprised me this week with a Kindle Fire.( early BD gift ) My gosh, it is so neat. Havent gotten a lot of time yet to learn all the gadgets but it is one amazing little thing .

How great! I like the Kindle because of all the free books...and I treated myself to the basic Kindle a couple of weeks ago:devil. I have a lot of history books downloaded already.

Mammogram is done. Thank goodness. Not the worst one I've ever had but certainly in the running for second place. Anyone who says they don't hurt is either a liar, a man, or someone who hasn't had one done!

Amen to that!:yes

I'm still waiitng for the results of mine...hmmm, maybe I should call...

I think I'll give it till Monday.

I started a new book while waiting and I think I'm somewhere in the third chapter.

What are you reading?

I forgot to mention yesterday on the topic of diagnostic reports. I absolutely love your system. :yes It saves any guesswork down the road!
