Our House Part Two

Hi all

I know, I am very behind once again . I'm really sorry that I just can't seem to stay on task with any regular system right now .

Too much going on again healthwise . I just wanted someone to talk to today. A VERY bad day ... week...month ...

It seems I have put too much trust in my doc that I have had for 10 years. She finally sent me to a neurologist for my migraines and he is wonderful, and I do think he may be able to help me at least in that area .

Other than that, everything else is up in the air . I needed past records from tests for the neurologist, and when I got them, I began reading through them and have found that my doc who I trusted so much has ordered tests and hasn't been truthful with the results , has ordered meds that I have taken MANY years that are potentially VERY dangerous . I have also had a continual BP drop til it reached 97/58 .... she never did anything about it,so I had to call my old kidney guy (who she said I no longer needed ).

He tells me I have stage 3 kidney disease ,has taken me completely off bp meds because they were damaging my already damaged kidneys.

I found out that I may have never had high bp that was just THERE ... it may have only gotten high during times of stress or migraines, etc ,so I found I have been taking un-needed bp meds for several years .

After reading all the tests, etc, she hasn't ever completely told me the truth .

Today I went to a new doc,(recommended by a nurse ) and he is barking up a totally different tree, wants me to have a gazillion more tests ,and mentioned possibly Lupus or some such illness. He also said the stomach meds I have taken for 10 years ( my old doc) have severely bad long-term side effects .

I now have too many cooks in the kitchen, they are all cooking a different meal, and none of it goes together .

I have so many different answers from so many Dr's and no clue who is right or who to trust .

The doc I went to today,it was Instant Dislike ,if there is such a thing . Too gruff, bossy, you will do things MY way or you won't be my patient ...

So I am left now not knowing who to trust, what route to take next ,or what move to make .

The doc's office today already faxed my old doc and asked for all my records. I asked them to PLEASE not do that yet, until I had gotten to know this guy to see if I like him and want to keep going,BUT they already sent the fax ,and my old doc refuses to take patients back who leave her office to go elsewhere .

Anybody got any good ideas of what route to take at this point ?

I can't go back to my old doc, I dont like the new one .

I have a specialist for kidneys, lungs, arthritis, migraines, mammograms ,but no family doc.

Sorry to come on and moan. I just dont know where to turn or what move to make next . :(

I NEED YARN ...... this is all worse because my hands get nervous, I get nervous and I HAVE to have something to do with my hands.

The cross stitch just does not cut it ...no matter how often I try, I really just don't enjoy it as much as yarn type crafts .

I am SO SAD . :worried:blink:cry

Well, that seems a bit shady to me. :think Even if you like your Dr. I suggest you seek out a new opinion......keep trying until you find the right fit for YOU. Sometimes it takes awhile. Remember what my Hubby went through with mental illness a couple years ago? He has been off meds for years & has recently been told his record is wiped clean of those diagnosises because they were false & brought on by the meds the old Dr. prescribed. Therefore, I lost my Hubby, my kids lost their father, & my poor Hubby lost himself due to poor judgement by a Dr. ALWAYS go with your gut feeling because I knew & tried to fight for years due to my ill feelings in regard to her diagnosis. Keep your chin up & do NOT give up!! :hug:manyheart:hug

Here is the Happy Round Ripple. I used Lyn's pattern and shamelessly used similar colors to one I saw on Google Images. :lol It's 46 inches point to point and I only had to buy one color! It seems like a good child size or lapghan size...or Gracie size!

Absolutely beautiful. I love the colors. :manyheart:clap

Hello ladies.

Elijah has still NOT made an appearance. I have 7 days until my due date, but I am so beyond ready. :(

Because I am going stir crazy with no car & no real ability to be on my feet I started another baby blanket. It is just a simple star blankie & I am a little more than half done. :cheer

I will keep ya'll posted if Elijah decides to make his move any time soon. :yes

Good afternoon ladies :hi

We had fun last night out to dinner, I had a chicken ceasar salad which was wonderful :yes I read a bit last night finishing the book I was reading. This morning I took my car of an oil change and it also needed a new filter for the engine so had them right take care of that too. The guy that waited on my was quite a cutie :blush:lol I went to a different Nissan place this time than I did last time because I wasn't happy with the other place last time although it's closer to work. However, the new place is only just under 7 miles from the house. I started a new book while waiting and I think I'm somewhere in the third chapter.

I forgot to mention yesterday on the topic of diagnostic reports. If I send a patient for a test such as x-ray, mri, ct scan, emg, etc I review it with the patient when I get the report back and have both of us sign or initial and date the report before it goes into the file and offer them a copy of it as well and answer any questions. I'm kind of OCD on that :lol

Cindy - I hope the dentist is going well and without complication :xfin WTG on the finishing the hat and getting back to the sweater. Which reminds me about my sweater :blush

What book are you reading?

I like your approach to communicating with your patients. They ought to teach that in medical school.

Is that the sweater you were knitting?

Dentist went fine, my mouth is a little sore still, but that is to be expected. I'll take some Motrin before I go to bed,a nd I'm sure the soreness will be gone by morning.

That should be cute!

How great! I like the Kindle because of all the free books...and I treated myself to the basic Kindle a couple of weeks ago:devil. I have a lot of history books downloaded already.

I like having a Kindle as well as a Nook for that very reason. We have a basic Kindle (with 3g) and a Fire, so we don't even fight about whose turn it is to read the Kindle. (Its always my turn with the Nook!)

I decided to work on a dishcloth today instead of working on my WIPs. I also ahve several cross stitch WIPS, but I can only work on them if I am not wearing mycontacts and I have a nice bright light. I got one of those OTT type lights last year for my birthday, and it helps a lot.

Hi ladies

Just another check in --

Tab

great to hear from you .Sure wish the new babe was here. I know how antsy you feel towards the end . You just want it to hurry up and happen .

We'll all be waiting to hear the news .

I'm really glad Shenandoah got all thiose issues straight. Very scarey what the wrong meds or docs do to you ,isn't it ?

Marisa

You sound like a wonderful doc-- that is how to deal with the patients, let them in on everything that happens so they are apart of the decision making .

Cindy

you are doing great getting lots of things finished up .

Jude You just about haveone of every reader they make now dont you ?

Linda

glad your mammogram is done. NEVER fun . I usually spend the whole time running my mouth to the girl . //it's the only time of year I actually APPEAR to have a noticeable sized chest . It is so flat by the time they get done CRUNCHING it that it's as flat as an envelope, but as big as a bed pillow if measured by the square root .

I must be ODD,but I always wonder how they are able to DO that test with someone who has a Dolly Pardon chest ?vThey must have to change the size of the "plates" .

Hi all,

Julie- Hang in there- and write down all the questions you want to ask tomorrow at the neuro!!! If I don't write them down, I always forget something and think of it on the way home!!

Tab- Before you know it, little Elijah will be here!!! Can't wait to hear that he has made his arrival!!

All this talk of getting the girls squished, reminds me that I need to make an appointment to have it done too. Better go put a reminder in my phone so I can call tomorrow!!

Here's a pic of the "Peek-A-Boo" baby blanket. I used Cindy's pattern found here

Hope Elijah makes up his mind to come sooner rather than later. Those last few weeks are awful. And mine were both late which was even worse. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Here's a pic of the "Peek-A-Boo" baby blanket. I used Cindy's pattern found here

Looks like a gorgeous blanket and another wonderful pattern from Cindy. :clap :clap :clap Hats off to both of you.

Oh, good grief!!! :eek

Good luck at the doctor's visit, Julie. Hang in there. :hug :hug :hug

It's overcast and rainy again today. Rats! My day did NOT go as planned yesterday. The battery on my car died while I was at Walmart last night, they jumped it, only to have it die again. A cop was right behind me and pushed me into a parking spot. (No ticket for not having any lights. Thank goodness.) Rosie and John jumped it 3 more times trying to get it to a repair place and finally ended up pushing it into a parking lot for the night. The repair place is going to check it out today. Hopefully it's not something terribly expensive. Rats!!! :angry It's a '96 and has been a super good car. I really hope it's not on its last legs.

Good Morning!

Thank you for the sweet comments about my RR and Gracie. :manyheart

Julie ~ Yay for Sam surprising you with a Kindle Fire! DH is really enjoying his Nook Tablet...I couldn't decide which one to get him. :) Good luck at the doctor appt. :hug

Cindy ~ Wow! You really are on a WIP marathon. :clap I hope the discomfort from the crown is much better today. :yes

Joanne ~ Your baby ghan is adorable! :c9 I like the blue post for the Giants. :)

Tabby ~ Thinking of you every day...won't be long now! :manyheart

Judy ~ Poor Lucy. :( Canned pumpkin (not pie filling) is what our vet recommends - along with the rice and/or chicken. I used to freeze it in ice cube trays since the cans have so much in them. I hope she's better now. :yes

Marisa ~ Your patients are lucky to have you! Our doctor does what you do with test/lab results and it sure helps to have something in your hands to re-read at home!

Time to get busy. DH came home last night and the laundry is calling. :)

I don't think it's the battery. I think it's the alternator. There's something in the electrical system that isn't letting the battery get charged when the engine is running. Time will tell.

Good afternoon ladies :hi

I got some crocheting time in last night :clap And I organized my pocketbook, since I had about 3 different ones being used :eek I needed to consolidate :shrug We also did laundry. I have a patient tonight at 6 so will be here a bit late tonight :D

Judy and Cindy - I'm reading the Stephanie Plums books by Janet Evanovich. We buy a couple at a time and then I read other stuff in between. My mom called last week and said she picked up a B&N gift card because she needed a Stephanie Plum fix :lol So last weekend I got 9 and 10. I read 9 and am on chapter 7 of 10. They are very easy reads and funny in the disbelief of what's happening sort of way. After I finish this one, I'm going to read the 1st again since the movie comes out next Friday....One for the Money. They filmed it near my sister's house last year, which is how we turned on to them :yes (although the books are based in Trenton, NJ :think ) Oh, and my friend Ed's car is supposed to be in the movie too, the one I just made the harley afghan for. I forget how that came about, be he has a 2 seater sports car and they paid him to use it. I don't remember if it's just parked or if they're actually running it though :think In the meantime, I read the backlog of books waiting for me on the nook, I get the free on every friday (and that reminds me....)

Judy - I hope Lucy is feeling better this morning :hug

Tab - Sending you prayers for the safe arrival of Elijah :hug

Cindy - Yep, it's the knit sweater....I'm on the hood :lol That's another project that keeps getting thrown to the side :lol

Julie- I find that patient's want to know and understand what's going on :yes I always explain as best I can and with pictures.....I'm not a great explainer without pictures :think:lol

Joanne - Gorgeous blanket :manyheart I think the Patriots/Ravens game is going to be torture because I don't want EITHER team to win and that's just not an option :( I'll be rooting for the Giant, but whatever the outcome, I'm rooting for the NFC in the super bowl :yes

Linda - Did you hear anything on the car yet today? :hug I hope it's not too bad.

Mary - Thank you. I hope all is well in your neck of the woods :hug What's Luke up to these days?

Hooray!!!!! The trouble he's been giving mommy, it's about time. Hopefully all is well with both of them.

Heard back on the car. The battery had a bad cell, but since they were the ones to sell it to me and it was under two years ago, they replaced it for free. The alternator was also shot, so had to have that replaced too. Will pick it up tomorrow. Could have been much worse.

Hi all

I wonder what was up with the boards yesterday ? I had long replies typed out twice and lost them both before they posted.

Sorry this won't be answering everyone from yesterday because it's not yet 4 AM and I can't remember what all I posted to who yesterday .

I went to my neurologist yesterday AM and was surprised to see a young girl there who was a nurse practitioner. She was the one who saw me yesterday. I have never before had any dealings with one, so wasnt quite sure what to expect . Back when I worked ,they didnt have as many different "levels " that health care people could be. they have added some new ones .

Anyhow I was so very impressed with her. She was very thorough, did a wonderful job ,and was the first person in this situation who would step back and look at all my health issues and tie them together, and explain how one could affect the other, and on down the line, which causes a vicious circle. Right on target because that is exactly what has happened.

So, she wants me to try a new regimen for headache prevention : Riboflavin and Magnesium in combination ,fish oil for the joint pains, etc .

Drink til I cannot drink any more to keep the meds flushed out. she said since my kidneys are bad,the meds stay in my system longer, making my body at times feel like it has too much of a med because it isn't being removed quickly enough . Try to walk even a little bit each day (which in Ohio in the winter isn't always easy) .

She said we need to put the diseases in order of importance, and migraines have to fit in down the list somewhere because the breathing and kidneys are more serious . She is concerned regarding my bp .Too high --140/100 yesterday . She has some questions regarding how the kidney guy is looking at this. She said that is the trouble with specialists ,they only look at the one part THEY are working on,and don't consider anything else .

Anyhow, the kidney guy says there is no IMPROVING my kidneys at this point, all there is ,is preventing further damage,so he wants as few meds as possible floating around in there . I HAVE a bp pill, but have parameters I have to follow before being allowed to use it .

SO... that's the new game plan. At least I got some questions answered, know a few more things I can try to see how they go.

Thanks for listening guys and for being so helpful. :manyheartI'm sorry I came in and fell apart the other day.It just gets so frustrating when you NEVER feel good, have spent a HUGE chunk of money on your medical expenses, and still feel bad ,with every Dr putting in their point of view and no knowing which one is right or who to follow .

Hopefully things will improve from here .

Back to the crocheting/crafting/etc and more Happy Stuff !

Good morning!!!

Julie- I've seen a nurse practioner at my PCP's office on several occasions and, as much as I like my PCP, I like the NP too- I find that she often spends more time and explains things better. I think that is key- the explaining part!

Judy- Well, you got your wish!!!:snow Lucy has her first snow to play in today!! :wgrin So it's a win-win- for you and for me since it fell on a Saturday!!!! My DD was so excited that it was going to snow so she could take the little guy outside in it!:sman

Thanks so much for posting about Tab!!! I'm so happy that Elijah has made his entrance into the world and it seems that he didn't waste too much time doing so!

Linda- Sorry to hear about your trusty car, but glad that it wasn't worse than it could have been.

Marisa- I haven't read any of the Evanovich books. That's funny that they filmed the movie in Pitt, but the setting is actually Trenton, NJ! (but not surprised- LOL). I'm sure it'll be fun watching the film and recognizing scenes and your friend's car!

Forgive me for not remembering who else posted what yesterday!:think

Off to pour another cup of coffee and sit here and peruse the boards while I wait for the light of day to really get a good look at the new fallen snow!!!:flake

Good morning, peeps!:snow

Lucy was going :yay outside this morning!! At first she looked out the patio window and looked puzzled. Her first couple of steps out in the 3 inches of stuff were tentative...and then she went bonkers with joy!!! Running...play bowing to Sparkie to get him to chase her. Eating it...and then trying to find a scent somewhere so she could go:lol

All is headed in the right direct in that area, btw.:):):)

She has all day to play in it and I have a feeling those play sessions are going to be interspersed with long naps:lol
