Jules, the NP sounds wonderful! So far, so good!:) And don't hesitate popping in - even if you don't have a hook moving!

I went to my neurologist yesterday AM and was surprised to see a young girl there who was a nurse practitioner. She was the one who saw me yesterday. I have never before had any dealings with one, so wasnt quite sure what to expect . Back when I worked ,they didnt have as many different "levels " that health care people could be. they have added some new ones .

Anyhow I was so very impressed with her. She was very thorough, did a wonderful job ,and was the first person in this situation who would step back and look at all my health issues and tie them together, and explain how one could affect the other, and on down the line, which causes a vicious circle. Right on target because that is exactly what has happened.

So, she wants me to try a new regimen for headache prevention : Riboflavin and Magnesium in combination ,fish oil for the joint pains, etc .

Drink til I cannot drink any more to keep the meds flushed out. she said since my kidneys are bad,the meds stay in my system longer, making my body at times feel like it has too much of a med because it isn't being removed quickly enough . Try to walk even a little bit each day (which in Ohio in the winter isn't always easy) .

She said we need to put the diseases in order of importance, and migraines have to fit in down the list somewhere because the breathing and kidneys are more serious . She is concerned regarding my bp .Too high --140/100 yesterday . She has some questions regarding how the kidney guy is looking at this. She said that is the trouble with specialists ,they only look at the one part THEY are working on,and don't consider anything else .

Anyhow, the kidney guy says there is no IMPROVING my kidneys at this point, all there is ,is preventing further damage,so he wants as few meds as possible floating around in there . I HAVE a bp pill, but have parameters I have to follow before being allowed to use it .

SO... that's the new game plan. At least I got some questions answered, know a few more things I can try to see how they go.

I was actually thinking the other day that a practice with a nurse practitioner in it would be perfect for you. I have friends who are NP's and I am always impressed with their attention to the whole patient. Glad someone took the time to take a look at the whole picture and discuss it with you.

Glad that Lucy is enjoying the snow, Judy!!! And that she found somewhere to go:lol

DD send me a pic of my GS this morning with the caption- Can't wait to go outside in the snow!!!:) I can tell she is very excited to take him outside in it! She loves the snow and is an avid snowboarder- although not so much since she was pregnant and since he was born!

Good morning. We got lots more snow yesterday, and the sun is shining a bit, so its bright and sparkly outside.

Congratulations to Tab and Doah on Elijah's safe arrival.

Not much happening here today, I don;t think. I have some cleaning to do and maybe a load or two of laundry.

It's nice when the snow is on a day when we don't have to go work!!! I've got the sheets in the laundry as we speak:lol

One of the gals in our craft club is a NP- and I agree with you-they tend to pay attention to the whole patient- I've been very impressed with every NP that I've met!

Julie ~ You "sound" so much better in your post this a.m. :manyheart Our NP is a gem...the two times I've seen her, she was thorough and easy to talk to. Hopefully, this will get you on the right track and you'll start to feel better very soon!:hug

Linda ~ Good news about getting your car back today! You were so right about the alternator...but I'm glad the battery was free. :yes

Judy ~ Yay for Lucy's first snow! She must be having a ball!

Hi to those I've missed this morning. :waving DH and I are going to go over some paperwork and get his mom's things together for the accountant. We both miss her so much and decided to get this over with early in the day.

Just a quick fly by before leaving the office. I didn't have time to check in ealrier because I got in a little later than I would have liked, but still wanted to squeeze in my workout before my patient :lol

Julie - glad to hear you finally had a positive experience with the NP....I find that the NP's are usually better than the doc :yes

I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll 'see' y'all on monday.

Hi all

I wonder what was up with the boards yesterday ? I had long replies typed out twice and lost them both before they posted.

Sorry this won't be answering everyone from yesterday because it's not yet 4 AM and I can't remember what all I posted to who yesterday .

Thanks for listening guys and for being so helpful. :manyheartI'm sorry I came in and fell apart the other day.It just gets so frustrating when you NEVER feel good, have spent a HUGE chunk of money on your medical expenses, and still feel bad ,with every Dr putting in their point of view and no knowing which one is right or who to follow .

Hopefully things will improve from here .

Back to the crocheting/crafting/etc and more Happy Stuff !

Glad you liked the NP, Julie. We've had great luck with ours too. Remember: we are here for you in the bad times as well as the good times. We all have health issues and family problems and they are hard on all of us. Having somewhere to vent is very good for the mental health.

Good morning, peeps!:snow

Lucy was going :yay outside this morning!! At first she looked out the patio window and looked puzzled. Her first couple of steps out in the 3 inches of stuff were tentative...and then she went bonkers with joy!!! Running...play bowing to Sparkie to get him to chase her. Eating it...and then trying to find a scent somewhere so she could go:lol

All is headed in the right direct in that area, btw.:):):)

She has all day to play in it and I have a feeling those play sessions are going to be interspersed with long naps:lol

Oh, how fun!

OK...more furple pics:D

Wonderful pictures!

Got my car back! It ran great on the way home. We have had rain, thunderstorms, and more rain so far today. Weather south of us was much worse, but nothing bad here. I think it's going to be a really quiet day for me.

So much for a quiet day. Kim was throwing up and may have aspirated. She's on the way to the hospital in the ambulance with John in hot pursuit. Say a prayer for her please.

Hi Ladies,

Linda, Prayers being said for Kim and all of you. I had the pleasure of being the first patient on the new mammogram machine. I never want to be used on a new one again. Let someone else break it in. She tighted that thing up like she had to the old one. I was bruised the next day.:eek Glad your car is fixed and you didn't have to pay for all of the repairs.

Julie, How sweet of Sam to get you a Kindle Fire. Glad you had a good experience with the np. I've never seen one, but my DD has and she really liked her. I hope this new plan works well for you.

Cindy, :clap for completeing some wip. A good way to start the new year. You have are sunshine and we have your cloudy days. It was 74 this morning and humid and by noon it is 62, cloudy and cold to us. This has been the warmest winter we have ever had down here. Were loving it to.

Marisa, I like your way of doctoring. Are family doctor is great. He goes over everything with us. Hope your enjoying your weekend.

Joanne, That's a pretty baby blanket. Glad your enjoying your weekend.

Judy, Thanks for the update on Tab. Great pics of the furples. Are lab Roxy loved the snow to.

Tab, Congratulations on the birth of Elijah. Hope your getting plenty of rest before they send you home.

Faile, Hi!

I'm sitting here drinking a cup of hot water with a honey-lemon cough drop dissolving in it. It helps control my cough. Hubby and I are getting better its just the cough that is horrible. My grandpa use to drink a cup of hot tea or hot water with every meal.

This morning we had biscuits & gravy, with bacon and eggs. Then I went and got my laundry done.

I'm making hearts for Maya's class for valentines day. The other day I started the flannelghan for Zack. I have one row done. I'll have to get use to that big of a hook.

Before I lose this post I'm going to go. Have a nice night!

Just heard from John, Kim is not in good shape. They put a tube into her lungs and got out three cups of fluid (very bad) and she will be put on a respirator. Her chest doctor is on the way to the hospital. It also looks like she may have had a heart attach. Won't know more on that for a while. John will be staying the night and I'll take things up to him when they know where she will be. Prayers are definitely needed. She is one sick cookie this time. It happened so fast! They had been talking about going to friends for the evening not long before. :(

Already lost my whole post several times, so I'm sending these pic's quick before they disappear.

Beautiful projects, Phyllis!! That sock monkey blanket is just too cute! Love the RR too- and the owl-and the pink blanket! See you Monday night ?

Thank you for all your prayers. They are needed. Things are looking pretty grim right now. Kim is sedated and the respirator is doing the breathing for her. The lungs are in very bad shape. Her aunt and uncle are bringing her mom up from Valdosta and should get here some time between 1:30 and 3:00 this morning depending on how fast they drive, when they left and what kind of weather they run into. Kim is as stable as possible at this point but that's not at a very good level. At least her BP and heart rate are down to more normal levels and the oxygen level is at an okay level for now. Not great, but not horrible. I took John up some food, clothes, his computer, etc. It's going to be a really long night I'm afraid.
