I finished the baby blanket from Cindy's pattern...

Came out to 34 by 36 inches and I used an entire Caron Pounder of soft sage with a K hook.

First of all.... :hug :hug :hug Linda, I'll be adding to the prayers now too. This was devastating news to come into but after reading through the posts and glad to hear that Kim is at least starting to show improvement in the right direction. And yes, I know how you feel about her urine output :wink I'll also be sending prayers for the entire family and you in addition and hope Kim continues to fight and pull through this :hug :hug :hug

Good morning ladies :hi (at least for a bit more)

Wow, I feel like so much has been going on around here since I was here last :think I got some hooking in over the weekend on my throw and also made a sqaure to mail out for the comfortghan thread. I might make a 2nd one to go with it tonight :think Yesterday we went out to celebrate Ingrid's birthday at her in-laws house and it was a great day/evening :manyheart After leaving there Steph and I went to a new Pub/Speakeasy near the house with live jazz :D Stopped for pizza on the way home and she managed to make a mess in my car after I told her not to eat in the car :angry I hope I got the grease spots out :xfin I'm pretty sure I got the buffalo sauce out (yep, buffalo chicken pizza)....you all know how I am about my car :sigh Needless to say a few expletetives escaped my mouth when I got in the car this morning :blush OK, if that's my biggest worry right now, I'll gladly take it!

I had a lady call today questioning about scheduling an appointment, but after chatting about her problem she's going to see her PCP first and then possible call back so :xfin She's not really sure what's going on or what type of treatment she needs and I told her that I can't really answer that question without examining her and getting her history and all that fun stuff. But I also told her that if she doesn't tell her PCP, then they don't know this is going on and that it may correlate with her history, which they already do know. I also told her (as in Julie's case) that it's good to have that one doc that kinda has everything about the patient as when going to specialists it all gets broken up. So the decision was to see her PCP and get his/her opinion and that if it's a musculoskeletal problem then she could probably benefit from coming here :yes So, I'm not really sure if she'll be coming or not so we'll just wait and see.

Joanne - Go Giants!!! :cheer:yay:clap

Judy - Lucy looked like she was having fun in the snow :yes The baby ghan is beautiful :manyheart

Cindy - Gorgeous projects....the dishcloths, baby set, and hat :manyheart

Mary - I hope you had a good weekend, despite having to do you MIL's paperwork :hug

Phyllis - Great projects, you make the cutest things :manyheart

Marlene - I hope your cough is doing better :hug WTG on the hearts for Maya's class.

Tab - Congrats!!! Elijah is gorgeous and Jaden is a ham :lol Glad to hear all is well :hug

Amy - :welcome Beautiful snuggie. Wow.....5 teens and 2 dogs :eek I'm Marisa and I live in Pittsburgh with my sister and her bf right now since I just opened my own chiropractic office after moving here from Philadelphia in September. This is the best group of ladies and supportive in both crochet/crafting and life :ghug I consider myself truly blessed to have stumbled into this room a couple years ago :manyheart

Hi Ladies

Marlene

I bet it was really neat to see and hear Maya reading to you . It was really exciting the first time Cam read to me.

How are your colds or flu ?

Welcome to our Sunflower Amy !

So glad you decided to jump on in with us. We are always glad to have new people .I hope you'll kick off your shoes and sit a spell. This is a VERY long running CAL, I'm not sure if it's the longest, but I bet it's ONE of the longest.

As some of the ladies said ,we don't do a LOT of specific CAL projects, but most everyone is working on different things all the time.

It's always an option if you want to work on something and would like a companion, just give a shout out and ask if someone would want to be your Crochet Buddy and work along with you .

It does sound like you have a lot of action at your house. I LOVE the teen years for kids. They are so much fun during those years .

I know a lady who has a Jack Russell pup. They are so cute .

What are your pup's names ?

Nice job on the Snugggle. Is it like one of the pull on type afghans with the armholes ?

Howdy Jude

How's things in your neck of the woods ? The blankie is so beautiful .Nice stitch, isn't it ?

TAB

Great news and such beautiful pictures .Elijah is precious . You look like you held up pretty well. Glad things are over, but sorry it was such a rough time. Better try to get some rest if possible .

Morning Miss Mary

How's life down in your state today ? We went from snow this morning ,to rain to thunder (weird in the winter to hear that, then bright blue skies, now back to grey and mad-looking outside .

Welcome to Winter in Ohio .

Linda

Such wonderful news about Kim . She must be a real trooper. she keeps on fighting everything life throws at her . Sure hope she has the power to keep on fighting. I'm glad all her family was able to come visit with her. I know that will give her more reason to try as hard as possible if they are all there to encourage her .

Hi there Marisa

I hope things work out with the lady who called today so she will start coming. How does the insurance work with you,do patients have to have a referral from the family doc before the insurance will pay ? Those insurances are sure a challenge sometimes, because they all have different guidelines to follow .

I can unerstand you needing more info to help her though. There has to be a middle spoke in the wheel (family doc),to have all the specialists branch out from .

Hope you got your car cleaned up after your sister SLIMED her pizza all over it . I probably wouldnt like that either. My car is old and rickety like me, but I baby it and talk to it,so it's like my big METAL friend . :D

Well, not much else new here .Steph came and talked to me a long while about docs --she used to work for my doc,so she knows her well, and it is also her family doc . She brought up some good points that I need to consider and gave me some advice ,so it is at least giving me a new viewpoint to look at it all from .

At least I dont have to make a decision immediately . I have some time to ponder it .

I feel kinda like the rope in a tug of war. Sam doesn't want me to go back at all, he feels they are making major poor decisions, and I can see his point .They have . But, it sounds stupid, it's almost like a marriage, or long-time -relationship . Just because one person makes some bad decisions, do you immediately dump them,or do you talk it out and see what move to make next ?

And my hands got bored enough to pick up the cross stitch again. It's not my favorite craft, but at least it keeps me busy. It would actually be a low cost craft to take up,since it takes me a REALLY long time to get very far on it .

Alright, off I go, gotta figure out what to slam into a pan for supper .

Thanks again everyone. The last of Kim's family have arrived now. The house is sort of the gathering place when they aren't all at the hospital. We're trying hard not to abuse the leaway they've given us on how many visitors are with her at any given time and still let everyone have some time with her. On my way home from the hospital I picked up Chex snack mix and mini candy bars to have here for munching on. Her uncle Mack and aunt MaryAnn brought up cake and brownies and lasagna and garlic bread when they arrived today so we've got that to munch on too. I've got cake and bread mixes on hand. The hours seem very long as we sit and wait to see if she can fight her way to us. We're hoping so.

Yes.. it is. I didnt make it long sleeved though. I love it. Now I dont know what I am going to work on. My husband says the jack russell needs a sweater and booties. I have searched for a bootie pattern and havent found one yet.

I am trying to rest, but I hate sitting still for too long. :devil That kinda did me in today because now my minor swelling turned into severe pitting edema from the bottom of my feet to my knees. EEK! :eek

Linda~I am so glad to hear Kim is heading in the right direction towards recovery. I know the road seems long, but the travel has to start with that first step. :yes Hang in there. :hug I will keep you all in my thoughts & prayers. :hug

Good Morning to everyone. I have not posted on this thread but I thought I would. It seems like a lot of fun!! There are so many posts I wont be able to read through all of them so I will just read the last few pages.

HI there! I am Amy. I am married with 5 teens. He has three and I have two. They all live with us fulltime. We have two dogs.. one jack russel and one border collie.I am legally blind. I love crocheting. I love reading but most books are too small for my eyes anymore. Audio books are fun.

Welcome, we are glad to have you. I'm Cindy, I'm a critical care nurse, a wife, mom to three adult children and a son in law, and also Sophie the Brittany. I have four grandsons.

Thank you all for the congrats. Yes, Elijah made a safe and healthy arrival. :c9 My labor was fast, but the birth was extremely difficult for me. I have never experienced such pain. I was in the hospital for 52 hours due to having a tubal the day after. A rough two days to say the least. :yes

Anywhoo, Elijah Cole was born on January 20, 2012 at 10:16 a.m. He weighed 8 lbs. 5 ozs. & was 19 3/4". Jaden said his "cheeks are so chubby he could fit nuts in there if he wanted to." :lol

We arrived home yesterday & everyday my pain lessens. :clap

Congratulations! What a cute little guy!! Glad you are feeling better each day.

Good morning! And it is good even though it's raining buckets. They have been able to discontinue one of the three meds for Kim's BP. YAY! She put out 900 cc of urine this morning, which is more than the two previous days combined. (I know. What a thing to be excited about.) But it means her kidneys are working well again. And one of her lungs is now clear. YAY!!!! Her heart is still extremely weak and she's a long ways from being out of the woods yet, but today they are cautiously optomistic. Jonathan made it to the hospital about 11:00 last night and Kim knew that he was there and squeezed his hand. He will be here until she is out of the woods. He has something like 5 weeks of time off built up, so no problem there. John told his boss that they won't be seeing him at work until Kim is out of the woods, too, and they are being very supportive of him. More family are coming in today.

Glad to hear some positive news. Praying that it will continue.

Julie, cross stitch is a very slow craft for me too. I still do it once in a while, but my old eyes aren't what they used to be and I have to have a very bright light in order to stitch.

I have to work tomorrow and then we will be going to visit my parents for a few days.. I will likely check in from there, but it may not be until Wednesday sometime.

Might be back here later on this evening though....

Welcome, Amy!!! Glad to have you join this wonderful group!!!

"Our House" is a very special place. I'm Joanne, I am a nurse who now works in managed care- When I refer to paradise, I'm talking about work. It just seems more pleasant to say that I'm off to Paradise--instead of I'm off to work!:lol

I have 3 adult daughters- my oldest lives in Boston and I love going there to visit--I was just there over MLK weekend! My middle DD is an artist and grad student finishing up her Masters in Art Education. She lives here in NJ with her BF. My youngest is married to my wonderful son-in-law (couldn't have picked a nicer guy) and they live about 8 minutes from me. They just had their first baby- my grandson in July- he'll be 6 mos old tomorrow!!

Linda- Glad to hear that the family is all there- and that Kim seems to be moving in the right direction!!! Hang in there- and try to rest as you can too- You still need to take care of you!:hug:hug:hug

Marlene- How fun to have Maya read to you through Skype!!! Technology is just wonderful!

Marisa- I can only imagine how you felt with the Pizza grease- or buffalo sauce grease or whatever it was:eek It does sound like you are enjoying living in Pitt, though!!! You gave good advice to the woman who called you- that's why you are so awesome!!!!

Judy- Great job on the blanket! I just love the pattern!!!

Julie- Glad that you got some good advice from Steph! Sometimes different perspectives help us sort out what we need to do!

Tab- Elijah is beautiful!!!! Congratulations!!!!! Loved Jaeden's comment!!! Be careful with the pitting edema. Did you let the doc know?

Cindy- Safe travels to your parents house!!!

I didn't get to craft club tonight:( since I didn't get home from Paradise until 7:30:eek Hopefully I get there next week!!!

Continued prayers for Kim!!!

Hi Ladies,

Amy, Hi and Welcome! The snuggie is adorable. You did a great job. My husband and I are retired and wintering in Texas. I have 2 adult kids, an adult stepdaughter and 5 grandkids. You'll hear me talk about Maya the most she is my DD's daughter. She is 5 and in kindergarten. We have taken care of her full time for the last three years. We have enjoyed every bit of it.

I'm working on a flannelghan for a graduation gift for are oldest grandson who graduates in June. Also making some hearts for Maya's class for Valentine's Day.

Tab, Elijah is a beautiful baby! Congratulations! Take it easy and gets lots of rest.

Judy, It was exciting having Maya read to us. She even had to show us each page. The baby blanket is beautiful.

Linda, Great news about Kim improving. I hope she continues to improve. Keeping the prayers going.

Marisa, I hope your able to get the grease out.

Julie, Are cough are still hanging on. I wish they would just leave. I sound horrible but I feel fine.

Cindy, Safe travels to your parents.

We didn't skype with Payton and Jocelyn, but I did talk to them on the phone for a few minutes. They had a snow day today. A lot of schools did. The back roads are all a mess (icy).

In the morning we have to pick up the car rental and drop off the car.

I'm off now. Have a nice night everyone!

Good morning, peeps!

No news from Linda?...maybe that's good news? I'll be checking in during the day....

Spring is here...all the snow is gone for the most part and the birds are singing...wierd weather to say the least....

Nothing fun on the agenda for today. I have a romance book to read. Just some fluff I felt like getting lost in...and I downloaded a few free romances for my Kindle this AM:D

Maybe I also need to make more saltines (1st 2 rounds of a granny, Amy) to keep my hook moving...or work on my knir facecloth....small projects for a while.

BBL:hug
