My red sea doilies made in November 2014

I just spent two weeks with friends in my favorite hotel in Egypt. Besides snorkeling on the house reef I was crocheting on the beach. I used the usual yarn size 20. All my doilies came out much bigger than I expected. The first one measures 62 cm (24,3 inch) in diameter. Here are my red sea doilies made in November 2014:

Here is my underwater paradise.

To give you an idea of what can be seen in the red see I enclose a few images from my underwater camera taken at the house reef of the Iberotel Club Fanara:

Thank you all for your comments on my crochet work which I appreciate.

I usually go to Sharm el Sheikh twice a year now since I have retired. I always go to the same place because I consider it to be the most beautiful underwater scenery in the whole world. This house reef is rather wind protected and therefore the water is very clear and the corals have very pretty colours and shapes. The photos taken can only give you an idea of the beauty of the place. In nature it looks much better, it is a real underwater paradise unique in the world. I have not yet seen the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, but I think that you have a rougher sea over there. My next snorcheling experience will be the Mystery Islands and the Isle of Pines in the South Pacific in February 2015.

May be I can give some crochetville members an idea of where to spend a lovely snorkeling holiday on Egypt.

Greetings from Vienna, Veronika

Fantastic doilies.  You are amazing.  I have to look up to see where the Mystery Islands are.

Thank you!

The Mystery Island is near Vanuatu and it will be a stop on my cruise with the Pacific Pearl from Sydney.

I am going to escape the European winter and I will spend a few months in Australia (of course with my crochet hook and some patterns). My journey will start next Saturday.

As usual, gorgeous doilies and love the snorkeling pics! I have to say that I'd love to see more of your doilies in other colors. Is there a reason you mainly do them in white or off-white?

So gorgeous. The first doily is my favorite, tho they are all fantastic!

Thank you!

I plan to crochet this doily in size 100 thread. As soon as I receive the 0,35mm hook which I ordered in Germany, as I have broken the other one which I had with me here in Sydney.

Thank you!

I just like to crochet in ecru, yellow and white! As I crochet a lot in the evenings and night time the bright colours are easier to handle.

Some of my relatives and friends get doilies in different bright colours, therefore they are all giveaways.
