Somebody stop her

Recommended Posts

Well, I sure hope your DM came out just fine from her tests! I'll take the opportunity to say a prayer for her health anyway. You can encourage her to stick to learning crochet by telling her how good it is for relieving stress, which will help her heart stay healthy too, BUT it would be good to take time for a little exercise! I say that because if she would happen to fall under the "influence" she may not want to get up from her chair - like it happens to me A LOT when absorbed in a project.;)

Teach her to crochet and you can share the stash. My mom knits and shared stash before she moved :). She's not close enough to visit all the time, so no more sharing :(. For my birthday I spent the weekend with my parents, and mom and I went shopping. She bought me what I wanted. She also gave me some :yarn that was gifted. Enjoy her while you can and create new memories. :hug

Well my DH managed to keep her from doing any yarn shopping at all... so :clap for my stashbusting score... but :box to my DH.. how dare he...:lol

But I don't think it is going to last. As I was going through the posts and sharing different things with my mom I came across one about Hobby Lobby clearancing yarn in Fayetteville, NC and across the nation. Well mom and I have been over to Fayetteville before to the Hobby Lobby because it is well worth the trip for us.. so the silver haired old lady asked "Wanna go on a road trip monday?" :sigh .. so much for stashbusting

My mother refuses to buy yarn for me. She says it enables my habit and would have no idea what to buy. Of course there are always requests for things to be made. My aunts have both mailed me giant boxes of yarn in the past month, terrible for stashbusting. All of it is acrylic, red heart style, and the only thing I can think of to do with it is toys for KristieMN's toy drive.

She did it AGAIN!!!

OK.. that "evil :irk scheming silver haired old lady (aka my mom that I TOTALLY love ;)) went shopping with me today in VA beach and when I wasn't looking :rolleyes bought me 36 skeins of yarn (that I soooo picked out myself :lol) and blew my stash busting score to heck and back. :eek I now have to subtract 72 points from my score :P oh well.. at least I will have fun :hook:crocheting and trying to gain some points back...lol. You guys really need to get on the ball and find a way to stop that silver haired scheming genius lady. Somebody adopt her already...lol

This is the reply I got back from Miss Crochet

Oh, darn it - if there's no way around it, I'll sacrifice my stash-busting score and take her on. Sigh.

The things I do for my fellow Villers... :shrug

Totally :rofl

My mother in law is like this. Most of what's in my stash right now is from her. She would pick up yarn from garage sales and when it was on sale. Now I have a massive stash that I have been working on nearly non-stop for a couple years now to try to bust out.

Hey, I made it through one box, anyway. :lol

I'm taking the S.H.O.L. to the the Pain Management doctor today in Ahoskie. She is having lots of pain in her legs and the bottoms of her feet and hands. They ran a nuclear stress test on her thinking that maybe it had something to do with her heart but that test came back totally clear :clap and the nuerologist can't find anything wrong. So they are sending her to a pain management specialist for people who are in chronic pain since they don't seem to be able to find a cause. Please be praying for her that the Dr. will be able to do something to help her because I hate seeing her in all this pain. She really enjoys everything you guys write here because it takes her mind off of everything. I will let you guys what the Doc says. Thanks in advance for the prayers

My mom and sisters are always supplying me with yarn of which i then turn around and crochet blankets for the new babies. When no one is popping any nelw ones i crochet for the linus project. when we recently had to move across the country i found a friend whose church makes afghans for the homeless so i was able to donate (don't choke) 6 large black garbage bags FULL of yarns. odd and ends (i did keep alot of my best yarns) but it's good to know it was going to good use. oh yeah, they loved it so much they sent me a thank you card for supplying them with enough yarn to keep them busy for a LONG time.

You are so lucky to have such a great mom- Enjoy her! Hope the PM MD was able to help her so that she is not in pain. My mom passed away on Mother's Day almost 10 years ago and I still miss her.

They have decided that it is some type of nueropathy and have scheduled her for an EMG .. electromyagraphy.. apparently they put needles in her arms, legs, hands, and feet and chase down the nerve paths. By doing this they are going to see if they can find where the problem is and then they should be able to figure out what is causing her pain and burning. So she has two more tests on the 6th and 16th of April. So for now, we wait. Thank you guys for all your prayers.

Yikes, hope they figure out what the problem is soon. I am a bit jealous of the yarn-giving! There is no way my mother would buy me yarn. *sigh* Probably a good thing, though, as I don't have much room for stash. When I first started crocheting, Hubby said, "Well, at least it doesn't take up as much room as some of the other hobbies.":laughroll

Wow, how nice of her, you can send her to Missouri!

absolutely she can spread the yarn love around the Show-me state. :lol

and I agree if it's bought for you it shouldn't hurt your stashbusting score

She would love that and as far as it being bought for you not hurting your stashbusting score. It just doesn't work that way as you will see in about 2 seconds.

Evil Silver Haired Old Lady (aka my mom that I love) convinced me and my aunt (her sister) (see.. she is such an enabler) to go to the fantabulous yarn sale today at AC Moore and she bought

me :sigh 84 (yes that is EIGHTY FOUR) skeins of yarn. That doesn't even include what she bought my aunt and my cousin who wasn't even there and she bought another 20 some skeins of yarn for me to make her an afghan but I convinced her to take them home and I will come to her house and make the afghan that way I don't have to add those to my score ;):P (thought I was rather clever there by convincing her to keep them for her stash but I still get to use them) So I have totally gone into the negative in a huge way and will be working my fingers to the bone to try to get back.

So the score for this week for me is

WTD -168 +4 = 164 YTD -112

but that is okay because I have lots of fantabulous new yarn to play with. :woo:yay:clap:cheer and I so :manyheart my mommy ;)

I keep saying if I go far enough into the negative that like in math it will eventually become positive again. So that is my goal to combine Fiber arts negative stashbusting score and math until I come up with a formula that will allow you to buy or receive all the yarn you want and still end up with a positive score. Those mathmaticians better watch out. I'm on a mission that is gonna break all the math rules, theorems, and proofs. :rofl

Wow! All that yarn in one trip!

So, which one of you was strapped to the roof of the car coming home to make room for the yarn?

:roflWe managed to all fit in the car but I think Hubby is looking for another house so he can have a room to sleep in since we are running out of room in our bedroom for yarn storage:lol
