Some of the place I've crocheted in:

Doctors office

Jury duty (waiting for number to be called)

Backyard during summer

Curled up on couch during other times

Passenger in car

Race Track (Aqueduct horse racing)

On vacation, relaxing at Lake George

Basically anywhere I can get away with it.

Am retired now but used to crochet during break and lunch hours when I worked (and sold some items)

In a car riding passenger.

In a car waiting for dd at her bus stop.

In the play area at Burger King.

At the park.

In the living room.

In bed (naked, even - God forbid my mother-in-law ever get psychic flashes by touching her mile-a-minute afghan!).

At CraftyChristine's house.

I guess I'm not much of rebel... I mostly crochet on the couch, watching tv, especially if it's a large item like an afghan. I take smaller items with to the Dr office, or almost any place where I'll have to wait for a while. I used to take smaller projects to work for the slow times, but then we got a new supervisor who didn't allow it. :nono Maybe I should make him a scarf or hat or something. :thinking2

Crocheting and walking?!! :not I don't have that much experience or coordination.

  • 5 months later...

on the sofa at home whilte watching DVDs or TV shows mostly, but I have crocheted:

in the dentist office

in the orthdontist office

while waiting in the car

at the doctor's - in the waiting room and in the exam room

in different hospitals

at my in-laws

at friends'

in hotel rooms

while riding in the car

at my computer

This topic has inspired me. I think I'll have to make myself a little pouch and take crochet with me so I can find some strange places to crochet. :-) I have several patterns memorized...it could work.

I'm getting some good ideas here.

I do most of my crocheting at work (I work nights :tired ) and in front of the boob tube. I also do it at gymnastics and swim lessons :help as well. Crocheting is such a great conversation starter! Unfortunatley, I'd rather crochet :hook than talk. LOL

I will crochet almost anywhere:

~ Planes (many times....we go to Vegas couple times a year...longest was from MIA to London then to Scotland) trains (train trip from DC to NY), automobiles (passenger & driving ~ but only when waiting for trains to pass or drawbridges to go/down)

~ Doctor/dentist/hospital office (something to pass the time while continuously waiting or getting numb)

~ Friends/family homes.

~ Beach, park, theme parks.

~ on my bed while watching/listening to the TV, sofa in living room

~ in backyard on lounge chair by pool listening to the waterfalls from my pond

~ In the Keys on the beach (always)

I usually crochet in doctor's aiting rooms and in my chair but here are my strange places

1. While waiting for the doctor to start my c-section, during recovery and the whole time I was in the hospital

2. at the swimming pool

3. at school during my clsses when it is work time(always had my work done1st)

4. on the porch while watching kids play

5. at the local races- during intermission

I think that covers it.

In my bed, any time of the day. It's just a dang comfy bed.

At the computer.

Watching TV.

In the car, as a passenger.

Waiting in the car for grandma to finish her shopping.

Before, at break in the middle, and after dance rehearsals.

Same at music rehearsals.

While people read aloud at my writer's group.

On the phone.

That's about it!

Glad to see that others also crocheted in the hospital after giving birth. (I finished a shawl, which I have worn ever since -- 24 years. Yikes. It's looking pretty ratty, too, but I can't give it up.)

Also:

I have a doily I treasure because I made it in the hospital and doctors' waiting rooms while my mother was undergoing surgery and treatment for breast cancer. For some reason, it's very special to me.

I used to crochet all the time with my late MIL, whom I loved. We once were snowed in at her farm and couldn't leave the house for a couple of days. We crocheted the entire time.

Plus:

On planes, in airports, on the train, at my Mom's, at my sister's, at the local cafes, but mostly in the recliner chair in front of the tv.

My bus trip to and from work is 45 minutes long...so I get a good bit of crocheting done then.

I also like to crochet when I'm waiting at the doctor's office, in coffee shops, on park benches...I'm not picky! I carry a giant tote bag with me everywhere and when the urge strikes, I whip out my hook and go to town!

The weirdest place I've ever crocheted was at work.

But see...the reason that is so weird is because I'm the door girl at a Country Western Bar! lol.

Okay, no offense to blonds, but after reading that someone crochets while at drive throughs, I had to post this. :)

There was a blond driving down the road, crocheting. And officer saw her and turned his lights on. The blond however, did not respond. The officer drove up along side her, rolled down his window and yelled Pull Over!

No, the blond yelled back. PULL OVER! the officer yelled again.

NO! yelled the blond. once again the officer tried. PULL OVER! NO, the blond yelled back, Sweater!

:D
