Where do you keep your hooks? Right now, in a zippered pouch that was meant for fishing flies.

Do you block stuff? I have never block anything I've made but I may start.

Do you dream "in crochet"? Oh yes! I have a scarf idea that I drift away on at night.

Biggest think you ever crocheted? A shell stitch afghan for my ILs. It was about 8 feet by 8 feet - not intentionally. Smallest? I made an octopus Xmas ornament for my mom who does her whole tree in animals. No pattern, just whipped it up.

Where do you keep your WIPs? In a basket by my recliner. I also keep a project in the car in a tote bag.

Do you make things for yourself? I have never crocheted anything for myself. :eek

Where do you keep your hooks? My metal hooks are in a quilted hook case I won on eBay. I have wooden hooks also; some are in the cardboard tubes they arrived in, and for my birthday last year, Rick gave me a set of wooden hooks in a cherry wood case lined with velvet. If I could frame it I would!!

Do you block stuff? I've done it one time for squares which refused to lay flat and were horribly misshapen. They may have straightened up when I started joining them together, but I was so irritated by it that I never would have touched it if I hadn't made them a little bit square first. I've also had to block the evil #11 square for the 63 Squares CAL.

Do you dream "in crochet"? Yes, sometimes. Mostly I lay awake at night, unable to sleep because my brain is racing with thoughts of the next project; what colors to use, which pattern, how should it look...

Biggest thing you ever crocheted? Smallest? A very large dc afghan for Rick and I. I wanted it big enough to cover both of us lounging on the sofa, and it does. I've never measured it though. I also made an afghan for our queen-sized bed, intentionally large enough to hang a foot and a half off the bed on the sides. I calculated it weighed 9 pounds when it was complete (I used 2 strands at once). The smallest thing are the thread bookmarks I'm making for the current Swap.

Where do you keep your WIPs? In the bedroom they are on top of or inside of the bins where I store yarn next to my side of the bed. In the living room they are in a basket beside the sofa.

Do you make things for yourself? Yes, but not often. Quick and basic things tend to be for us, but the more intricate things requiring a lot of pattern reading go out to family and friends. The 63 Squares afghan is the first thing I'm making for us that is something worth displaying for a long time. The rest get folded up and put away until we are cold.

Biggest thing you ever crocheted? Smallest?

Where do you keep your WIPs?

oh my, all over... i have a small project in a tote in my suburban, one next to my bed- for those sleepless nights, one on my washing machine... check out my blog for the story on that:wha 3 or 4 on a shelf in my bedroom closet and one (my most serious) in a really great tapestry tote i carry around.

Do you make things for yourself?

Where do you keep your hooks? My aluminum hooks I keep in a case on an end table in the living room next to where I work. The steel hooks are in a zippered case in another end table near the couch in what's supposed to be my craft room.:lol

Do you block stuff? Not usually, but I will if the piece is curling.

Do you dream "in crochet"? No, but I'm constantly thinking about what I can make next and for whom.

Biggest thing you ever crocheted? Smallest? The biggest would probably be my son's blanket. I made it big enough to drape off the sides of his bed. Smallest things would have to be hot pads/pot holders.

Where do you keep your WIPs? The main project I'm working on is kept in the living room near the couch where I usually sit. The others are kept near the couch in what's supposed to be my craft room.:lol

Do you make things for yourself? Very rarely and usually smaller things that I can do in a day.

Where do you keep your hooks?

-I was at the dollar store and saw this little case that held 2 pens, a highlighter and an eraser. I bought it and all of my hooks but Q, a pair of tiny sewing scissors and a paper measuring tape reside in there quite nicely.

Do you block stuff?

-Nope, not yet

Do you dream "in crochet"?

-Once I had a dream about making an afghan, but usually it's thinking about what I want to do while I am falling asleep.

Biggest think you ever crocheted? Smallest?

-Biggest would have to be a blanket I made for my bed at school. Smalest are the can cozies.

Where do you keep your WIPs?

-I try not to have too many, but I have a nice big hobo bag that I carry them around in almost everywhere (i have a pair of plastic bag sandals, and a stadium blanket right now)

Do you make things for yourself?

-I think almost everything I have made is for me--A few have been given away though.:bounce

Do you block stuff? No.

Do you dream in "crochet"? Suprisingly, no.

Biggest are large afghans, smallest are ornaments for the Christmas tree.

Where do you keep your WIPs? All over, some are in the living room, others in the craft room.

Do you make things for yourself? Yes, just finished a shoulder bag, have done home decor (does that count?), did a shawl also, for example. Mainly, I like to do charity projects and I do a lot for gifts, (Christmas, showers, birthdays, or just because)

Where do you keep your hooks?

In a plastic case in a drawer in my bedroom .

Do you block stuff? Nope.

Do you dream in "crochet"? No, but like most of the other ladies, sometimes I think about things I am working on or want to work on next before I fall asleep .

Biggest thing you have ever crocheted?

I started an afghan years ago when I first got out of high school. I had no idea how big to make it, but my starting chain would have made it long anough to cover my car if I would have continued !

Smallest? Probably snowflake ornaments .

Where do you keep your WIPs?

By my chair in the living room or in a tupperware container in the closet .

Do you make things for yourself? nope, I think I have given away everything I ever made .

Where do you keep your hooks? With the exception of my P & Q hooks and knit guage, I keep my hooks in my new quilted hook holder (courtesy of secret pal )

Do you block stuff? Not yet, but I have a little bookmark that needs it

Do you dream in "crochet"? I fall asleep thinking about the next project I want to start

Biggest thing you have ever crocheted? An afghan for my living room using Homespun - huge, soft and comfy!

Smallest? Pineapple bookmark

Where do you keep your WIPs? Next to my bed, in a basket in the living room, or on my desk if I'm feeling really ambitious :)

Do you make things for yourself? Occassionally. I typically make things for my girls or family members.

Where do you keep your hooks? In a rollup case I crocheted, in my wip bag. Extra long and fat hooks are in with my yarn storage.

Do you block stuff? Usually, yes.

Do you dream "in crochet"? Not yet, but I am always planning projects--daydreaming!

Biggest think you ever crocheted? Smallest? Biggest is a medium size blanket (about 5 feet square); smallest would be bookmarks.

Where do you keep your WIPs? My "serious" wip is in a tapestry bag that my grandmother used for her knitting wips; others are in ziploc baggies with my yarn storage (they are mocking me).

Do you make things for yourself? I guess I am a little greedy--I make stuff for myself all the time. Also for my immediate and extended family.

Where do you keep your hooks? In a sewing basket that my daughter gave me for Christmas. The larger ones are stored in with my scrap yarns, in a plastic storage bin.

Do you block stuff?Gifts are usually blocked. Not by me but taken to the cleaners.

Do you dream "in crochet"? I fell asleep for the first time the other night thinking of crochet.

Biggest think you ever crocheted? Smallest? Largest...A bedspread that my dears asked me to make that is 5 years in the making, and still not completed. A row takes 30 to 45 minutes and I got bored :shrug Smallest... a pair of ear rings for my sis

Where do you keep your WIPs?ALL OVER!! In the car, behind the love seat. It's at an angle in the living room, and lots can be hid. Downstairs with all my other yarns. Oh yes, and the bedspread is in my closet. Lurks at me every morning and I say not today. I've got book marks to make. :bounce

Do you make things for yourself? Yes, sometimes...I really want to make valance curtains and have been afraid of the big project syndrome. Mostly as gifts though cause I like to think of the person the project is being made for. I don't really like to think of myself. Scary :worried

Where do you keep your hooks?

In a crocheted hook holder made with RH starbrights and trimmed in dark purple yarn. it's funky and functional.

Do you block stuff?

Haven't had the need to yet.

Do you dream "in crochet"?

Yes. I dreamed I was at a store I saw a poncho there that I was to crochet. I have a mental list of projects that I want to do. Does that count?

Biggest think you ever crocheted?

My trademark basic black shawl.

Smallest?

The little pouch I made last night out of a small bit of leftover self striping cotton yarn. I put a piece of rose quartz in it. Showed it to my co-worker (who's bought some of my crochet) and he thought it was a tampon holder.:lol

Where do you keep your WIPs?

On a wicker table in the living room. There's a piece of fabric on top to keep the yarn from snagging on the wicker.

Do you make things for yourself?

Yes, Shawls mostly. A potholder too.

Where do you keep your hooks?

In one of those cases they sell at Wal-Mart. I got it for Christmas a couple years ago.

Do you block stuff?

I should have by now, but no.

Do you dream "in crochet?"

No, but I probably will now.

Biggest thing you ever crocheted?

Afghans

Smallest?

A bell made of thread for our Christmas tree. I only had to starch it, but never got around to it. It's been a couple years, and I have no idea what happened to it.

Where do you keep your WIPs?

All over the house, usually. It drove my parents nuts. I'm trying to confine them to my bedroom or the basement, now, though.

Do you make things for yourself?

I've made some afghans for myself, but gave them all to the Salvation Army when I moved. I think the only things I still have that I've crocheted are a pair of socks and my first project, a pillow.

Where do you keep your hooks?

In a pink zippered makeup bag I got for a dollar at Sav-On.

Do you block stuff?

Nope. I haven't finished anything that needed it yet.

Do you dream "in crochet"?

Nope, but ideas do keep me from falling asleep some nights.

Biggest think you ever crocheted? Smallest?

Big: Granny square afghan (36ish by 48ish) still in progress.

Small: little hats for preemies.

Where do you keep your WIPs?

I have a home office with a separate table for crafts. My (growing) yarn stash is in a box in the corner. So far it's under control as there are only 3 WIPs (an afghan, slippers, and some preemie hats)

Do you make things for yourself?

Yes. My first finished object was a shrug I made to wear at work. I'm always cold there but it was too hot for a jacket and a shawl was too floopy. Right now I'm working on a pair of slippers for myself.

I have some questions of my own to add (with my answers following.):

Do you use patterns?

I try to, but I always end up changing the yarn or something to suit myself. My first completed object was a shrug that I made up as I went along. I looked at several patterns until I felt like I understood what I needed to do to construct it. There are things I will do differently if I make another one, but it came out ok. (No matter what craft I'm doing I'm completely incapable of exactly copying the directions. I always have to do something different. I'd be a lousy pattern tester.)

Who taught you to crochet?

I'm self taught. I inherited some hooks, acrylic yarn and an old coats & clark how-to from my grandmother. I never saw her crochet. Over the years I kept trying to make a granny square but they always looked deformed. Then last April, I was looking at a pattern book for kids at Michael's and the lightbulb finally went on. I've been crocheting obsessively every since. I wonder how many thousands of dollars I'd have spent on yarn by now if I had just askes someone to show me what I was doing wrong years ago. ;->

What kind of crochet would you like to try?

Free form! The organic, no-rules, make-it-up-as-you-go-along quality appeals to me. I need to learn a few more stitches before I tackle this.

Where do you keep your hooks? In this weird, clear Hawaiian God glass mug/vase purchased at a garage sale by my sister. It sits near my chair and I can easily switch between sizes. Before all my hooks were in a small painted wooden picnic basket (along with other small parts one needs for crochet or knittign).

Do you block stuff? No.

Do you dream "in crochet"? Not yet...if I did, I might figure out what I'm doing wrong in Trinity stitch!

Biggest think you ever crocheted? This afghan (covers a full-sized bed). It was the second one I have made.Circle Afghan. (Gift to Sister)

Smallest? coasters

Where do you keep your WIPs? in project bags (net bag or large plastic blanket bag). The part of current project then is either in my basket next to chair or in traveling bag.

Do you make things for yourself? Occasionally. I don't have room for all the afghans I make though.

Where do you keep your hooks?

In a little pouch I designed to hold them.

Do you block stuff?

Not if I can help it. Only when absolutly nessisary.

Do you dream "in crochet"?

Yeah, especially when I've spent a lot of time working on something and have to put it down when my hands give out and then try to sleep, I'll dream that I am crocheting the rest of the projct

Biggest think you ever crocheted? Smallest? biggest was the first afghan I made, smallest was probably a little headband for my hair or a jar lid cover or some such thing

Where do you keep your WIPs?

Well, the cream and silver sweater is in a large black tote bag, the frosty green tunic is in a rubbermaid container, the fluffy green pillow made with fascination thick'n'thin is in a plastic basket, the chunky slippers are in another basket waiting for me to find the rest of the pattern.

Do you make things for yourself?

yup, slippers, sweaters, headbands, scrunchies, kitchen stuff, just little things that make me feel good.

Anywhere high up where my son can't get them! I used to keep them in a drawer but I stopped being organized. :frog

Do you block stuff?

Do you dream "in crochet"?

Sometimes I go through phases where I SEE in crochet. :lol

Biggest think you ever crocheted? Smallest?

Biggest was my daughter's baptism blanket that I forgot to use!!! Smallest was probably a baby bootie...I never did the mate because I wasn't happy with the way it turned out.

Where do you keep your WIPs?

In an end table in the living room.

Okay, have to share...

Where do you keep your hooks?

Keep my hooks in a box in the living room, too many to put in a case

Do you block stuff?

Not unless its 100% cotton, like a doily, or a three ply cotton purse or something.

Do you dream "in crochet"

when I teach my students math, I think of crochet, and almost every outfit I see, I try and think of how I can crochet it. Also, my husband says I crochet in my sleep-- that is, I move my hands to invisable yarn and hooks. He he. now that's an addiction.

Biggest thing I ever crocheted? Smallest.

A wedding gown. Well it wasn't the biggest, but the most intracate. Wow, what a lot of work. Irish crochet wedding gown! Took Months. Turned out georgeous though.

Smallest? Probably a christmas ornament-- an icicle or coaster or something.

Where do you keep your WIPS?

Living room in a basket.

Do you make things for yourself?

All the time, sweaters, bathing suits, dresses, suits, scarves, hats, slippers ect, ect, ect . . .

Where do you keep your hooks?

Hooks are kept in a plastic bag

Do you block stuff?

only blocked one thing... but it wasn't really done properly (drying it was a pain in the tush!)

Do you dream "in crochet"?

i think i had one dream where i crocheted.... don't remember clearly

Biggest think you ever crocheted? Smallest?

Biggest - my sisters hat and scarf set. The Scarf went down to her knees, and that was after it was wrapped around her neck twice. Her hat can be doubled over and still have enough on top to shape in any way she pleases.

Smallest - eye glass case that turned into an umbrella handle cover. The umbrella had this nasty rubber handle that didn't smell pleasant, so i covered it with the eye glass case and it worked great! I'd take a picture but my umbrella was stolen from the library!

Where do you keep your WIPs?

I was given a basket to keep yarn and projects in. To separate my projects i keep them in plastic bags. I find the apple store bags are the best! They are strong and have a cord that you can use to wear it on your back. i'll have to take a picture to show what i mean.

Do you make things for yourself?

sometimes. right now i'm making a tank top, beautiful yarn i couldn't give up when i saw it in the yarn store on madison ave... it better come out nice when i paid almost $5 for each skein... :P My placemat/sweater sleve/purse was for me... my first two scarves for practice, another purse from leftover yarn, and a hat and scarf set. see my blog (work in progress) for descriptions on projects.

Where do you keep your hooks? Depends... any hooks not being used for WIPs I keep in a zippered pouch in my orange basket, and the hooks I can't fit in there I keep in a quilted crochet pouch

Do you block stuff? I only had to once :))

Do you dream "in crochet"? Yes! I've dreamt I finished a project once, and that gave me all the more motivation to really finish it. I'm also usually thinking about WIPs or upcoming projects before I fall asleep

Biggest think you ever crocheted? Smallest? An afghan that I got happy with :pig and could actually be used as a bedspread. Smallest? One scrunchie.

Where do you keep your WIPs? My Lion Brand tote bag, or on top of my yarn stash in my bedroom

Do you make things for yourself? All the time, but I do like to share my talents as gifts for other people, too :cloud9
