Having Fun and Getting it Done 2009 - 2nd Quarter!!

Recommended Posts

This CAL/KAL is going to be perpetual throughout the year, and it will be divided quarterly. This thread begins the second quarter. Please list your “To Crochet” or "To Knit" (or both) list for the current quarter either in a response to this thread or in your signature (or both). Anyone can join any time.

Please try to keep your list realistic for your time available. Try to get as much done as you can. Don’t let perfectionism and/or overachieving get in the way. I say that because I’m usually guilty of it. :blush If you don’t finish your list, adjust it for the next quarter. This CAL/KAL is meant to give you a sense of accomplishment, not a sense of guilt. Your list should be at least 5 items but not more than 12. We can always add more to our lists as we get items completed. Just don't overwhelm yourself from the get go!

The first quarter wsa a great success and we managed to knock a bunch of things of our lists :clap

Dates:

First Quarter 2009 - Jan. 1 - Mar. 31

Second Quarter 2009 – Apr. 1 - Jun. 30

Third Quarter 2009 - Jul. 1 - Sept. 30

Fourth Quarter 2009 - Oct. 1 - Dec. 31

Here is my list to begin the second quarter. The first three items are left over from quarter one and are things that were not completed then.

1) Learn to Knit afghan for knitting practice (8 of 63 squares done - this is an ongoing year long project where one square is done each week - this one will still be on my list in quarter 4)

2) Finish the green Terry Kimbrough baby blanket (the body is complete - the border needs to be done)

3) Finish pink boucle cardigan (back is partly done)

4) Irish Hiking Scarf (knit) (5 cable repeats complete or 7 inches)

5) Make some crochet fans bookmarks to have on hand for quick gifts

6) Do something with the squares made in various baby yarns that I have hiding in storage - there is probably enough for two baby blankets

7) Make something with the Simply Soft saltines (two round grannies) - design some sort of quilt-ghan with these.

:blush this should keep me busy! And let's see what I can do this quarter! I am proud of how I did last quarter :yes

I was on a day trip today so I used my time in the car to work with more leftover prayer shawl material. The "Prayer and A Wing" blanket will have a matching pillow.

The prayer shawl is still in progress (2 of 5 skeins done). I did not take it on the road because it is hard to remain properly focused in that situation.

BAD NEWS: the first quarter projects remail largely unfinished

GOOD NEWS: I am Finally getting these leftovers put togehter into useful items ... and these items are actually for ME!

I think I'm going to jump in on this, but my list may be short.

3. Finish knitted baby sweater.

4. Finish Heirloom Baby Blanket I think I'm going to frog this

5. Get to the decreasing section of my cotton Prairie Blanket (that's been languishing since last summer)

Hubby is having to travel a lot in the next few weeks. This will keep me occupied.

My list is a bit less ambitious. I need to finish a blanket that I am making for a friend (her birthday is in May :D) and I need to finish a poncho (that one is alomost done! One more round to go! :eek). Then I need to at least try to start the blanket that I bought yarn for in December for me. Let's see how I do!
