These were crocheted by women inmates in Yuma prision in the late 1800's and early 1900's. It was a size 50 thread and the hook was a piece of wire made into a hook at the end. The piano scarf was amazing also, but I didn't get a good picture of it.

 

 

Didn't they do a wonderful job.

You would have to do something to keep sane in those small cells they had.

Awesome! Prisoners are still crocheting. Remember the Martha Stewart Poncho that she wore when she came out of prison made by a sister inmate?
