Circle of Friends

Twas the day before Sunday

And all through the town

Not much going on

For miles around .

The new neighbors were mowing

Their yard out back

With the biddy on guard

In case of Terrorist Attack .

Sam was firing up our mower too

To keep her amused

After all, this is Hicksville

What ELSE is there to do ?

I was sitting in my chair

With yarn all around

Trying to think of why I needed MORE,

over in the next town .

When what to my wondering

ears did I hear ?

The sound of PeeWee’s Mail Truck

Pulling up HERE !

Away to the door

I flew like a flash

Ready to YAK at PeeWee

Before he could make a mad dash .

The look in his eyes

might’ve been one of FEAR

Or maybe he ate too much All-Bran

And wondered if a restroom was near.

He held out a box

And backed slowly away

Kinda acted like a zookeeper

Feeding the Alligators today .

When I glanced at the box

I figured it was for Sam

But it said to Julie !

Hey, that’s who I am !!!

Peewee bolted down the diveway

Like his pants were on fire

Almost ran over the curb

And got a flat tire .

The return address on the box

Said Nashville, Tennessee.

Could it be the Dolly Pardon Kit

I ordered just for me ?

It came with a sequined jumpsuit

And a blonde wig

A matching guitar

And a chest…. THAT BIG !!!!

I ripped open the box

And what a surprise !

It’s the most beautiful Quilt-Ghan

From all of you guys !

I whistled and shouted

And yelled with glee !

My very own afghan

Made by you guys

Just for me !!!

A very special and heartfelt Thank You to each and every one of you

You really don’t know what this means, do you ?

Sometimes in life ,there are troubles around every bend

Then something like this happens ,to show your true friends .

We may all come from North, South ,East and West

But you, my friends, are all the BEST .

Yesterday I had DS's birthday party and sneezed my way through it and a few doses of Benadryl.... still sneezing today. Calling the Doctor tomorrow and going to an allergist...

 

Julie - I'm so glad you love the afghan. I think I remember hearing about it but was buried in stuff... now that I see how happy it made you, I regret not joining in.

 

Show the pattern and I'll make a square. You can sew it to the outside edge so that it will flap around, annoy you, get in the way, and just plain drive you crazy. Then it will be like it's TRULY a gift to represent ME!!!
