Our House Part Two

Hi everyone!

Valerie!!!  We've missed you lots and it's so good to see your post. :manyheart   Come back soon!

Yesterday wasn't too bad, but we will need to call the lawyer again. :(  It seems that even a full probate with authority assigned to Sue and I by the judge isn't enough for one bank!  Very frustrating...but we will get this done.

DH and I are headed to DD's.  She is taking Luke to a country pumpkin patch, but Luke has a cold so we'll stay with him.

I'll check in again this afternoon.  Have a good day, House! ♥♥♥

Sherry, I'm glad things are going somewhat better and that you are getting to the point where you can crochet again.   :hug

Val, I'm so glad to see your post!  Hugs and hugs to you.   :hug   May you get your laptop soon.

I'm fighting a cold I think, because the ragweed isn't markedly higher than it's been in a while.  Anyway I skipped prayer shawl last night and just came home and watched TV instead.  Had soup for supper and chamomile tea later.

Frank was working on the new cash registers when I got to work ($100/register) and finally got one of them working with the computer so that's back in working order again.  Yesterday was super slow, too.  We need to get some sales to compensate for the extra expenses.  The good news is that the police have posted a picture of a guy that they suspect of doing the break-ins.  It was from a video camera from a nearby store earlier in the day.  We have it by the cash register so that if he comes in we can report him to the police.  Hopefully he'll be caught soon.

Mary, that's a lot of red tape for one bank to put you through.  Hope it gets cleared up quickly.   :hug

I have to do laundry, but other than that I plan on a quiet day today.

Oh, Linda - I sure hope you're not getting a cold. :xfin:hug   Business at the store should pick up with the holidays coming. :yes

Sherry ~ Yep, it's the big game tomorrow!  Texas sure isn't looking good this year. :no   Glad you've had some crochet time! :)

Hi to the rest of the House, too.  We got home about 2:30 and I really need to get busy around here...or maybe crochet instead. :D

We are sitting in our condo in the Smoky Mountains region. We have a lovely view of the mountains. It's really busy here, despite the national park being closed. Our drive down was long, but uneventful.

We got settled in about 7. I knew from previous years that we would not want to go back out into the traffic to get dinner, so I brought some food to reheat. Usually we go out for dinner, but tonight seemed like a good night to relax. We ate, had a glass of wine, put a CD in the CD player, and played games. We never do that at home, seems like there's always work to do there. We played 3 games of Tri -ominos and I lost all 3! Now dh is reading, and I am here.

I knit two dishcloths on the way down, and started a third. Dd asked for some for when she moves out.

Val, it's so good to hear from you. I knew you were around because I see you on Facebook, but I wondered why we hadn't seen you here. A while back, Tammy said that she had trouble getting on here too. It's been a long time since she's posted too.

Mary, we had some odd issues with my parents estate as well. It seemed to require a fair bit of time and effort to resolve things, but we are pretty much at the end of things now.

Well, I'm going to go sit out on the balcony for a while, and the internet won't work out there at all, (it's pretty persnickety inside as well), so I'm going to say good night.

I'm doing better tonight.  I didn't do much but read a book today.  Work tomorrow, then off for three days.

Good to hear from you Cindy.  Have a great time.

Good morning

Cindy- Glad to hear you arrived safe and sound and your first night eating in, having a glass of wine and just relaxing sounds perfect!

Linda-Glad you took it easy it today. Hope you are able to beat the cold and that you have a good day at work

Mary- It seems that there is always something when settling an estate. Did you enjoy your time with Zach--of course that is a rhetorical question, because I know you did.

Val- It was good to see a post from you! Hope you are taking care of you!

Sherry- I didn't get any yarn for my birthday, but DH gifted me with a bank gift card to take to Boston with me.

I had a nice evening with DH on my birthday -out to dinner and then home to watch the Rutgers football game. (they lost, but put on a good showing against Louisville). If I didn't have to work that day it would have been perfect--although my co-workers made me feel special.

Last night after work, Ryan called me to sing happy birthday--my DD said she was sorry it was a day late, but she was working one of her 12 hr shifts on my birthday. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to see him this afternoon and have him sing to 'mimi' in person!

I have to log into work for about an hour today and then work 4 hours tomorrow= last of clients going into the system. For now, though, time to get coffee and put the laundry on.

Have a good day!

Hi Ladies,

Linda, :clap  for finishing the quilt. Glad that the break in at the store wasn't any worse than it was. I hope they catch the robber soon. Hope your not getting a cold.

Joanne, Happy Belated Birthday! I'm going to try just crocheting the hat completely through.

Cindy, Glad you arrived safely to the Smoky Mountains. Sounds like a good idea staying in for dinner and having a glass of wine. Enjoy your vacation.

Marisa, The hot water heater got fixed. And we had hot water just before I left yesterday. Have a great time with your family.

Sherry, Glad your able to get some crocheting in even with having to deal with the stress at work. Do you have the grandsons this week?

Val, So nice to see you again. Hope we seen again real soon.

Mary, There also has to be something to snag up something this important. The bank is being to picky. Especially when you have already been in front of the judge. I hope you can finish it up soon.

Hubby's appointments went well. He's all set for his surgery. A few months ago he started seeing a counselor through the VA and he just started his first group therapy. All for the post tramatic doing with Vietnam. He's been bothered for years and one of his friends tried getting to go for help back when they were working together but he wouldn't. I especially think the group therapy will be good for him, as he will find out there are others with the same kind of problems he has and is experiencing.

DD and Maya's daddy went away for the weekend. So I came down yesterday to spend the weekend with Maya. She and I have been having fun. Today she had cheerleading so we went to that. Then her friend Colby was playing football after she was done so we watched his game to.

We ordered pizza for supper. I ordered it online for the first time ever and went and picked it up. What you can't do online now a days.

Maya has to read for 60 minutes a week and you have to sign the sheet with the name of the book, minutes she read and sign it. So she has read me two book and used up 27 minutes so far.

Tomorrow morning were going to make chocolate chip cookies. It's suppose to be a little cooler, so it will be perfect for baking.

My Mom called to tell me she is being sent to a kidney specialist. She has to go on the 23rd same day as hubby's surgery so I told her I couldn't go with her. But either my sister or brother or both are going to. Something to do with different levels of blood in both??? I don't know any thing about the kidneys. I did look online a couple of places so I have some questions I'm going to call her about. I will also give my sister questions to ask (her recommendation) since I'm the one in the family who always ask questions. It must come from being the oldest.

I hope everyone has a great sunday!

Hi, ladies! We had company yesterday, so the time flew by and no chatting here....

Marlene, yes, Viet Nam vets had it very bad. No support for them as soldiers just doing what they were told ...to the point where they had stuff thrown on them if they returned home in uniform. In 1963/4 DH was a medic at Madigan General hospital's ICU in Washington State and they got some of the first casualties... :(  I hope your hubby follows through and finally gets the support he needs and, in particular, deserves. I think many Viet Nam era vets look at the support current vets get (well-deserved, as it is) and bad memories are dredged up and they're very hurt by what they had to face both on and off the battlefield :hug

A relaxing day for us today - have a good one my friends. :manyheart

Good morning,

I had a nice day yesterday- that is after finishing with what I had to do for work. Lots of good fun with the boys- and dinner together. It was so enjoyable.

Heading into work in a bit for 4 hours. then home to relax with DH- and football and knitting/crocheting. Thank goodness my Giants aren't playing today so it will be no-stress football watching! LOL

Have a good day everyone!

Hello everyone! :waving It has been a long time since I last saw you all :(  Obviously I haven't gone back and read the posts, since it has been well over a year and I would never get caught up. Not sure what all I've missed, but maybe someone can give me a summary of the real important things. Just hope you have all been well.

As for me, I had brain surgery in May and I am finally back to work after 4 months. It all happened very quickly and I am just glad that it is over for now. I have suffered from I thought were migraines since I was 11 and had a few other symptoms through the years, but never really put it all together. It wasn't until my face and fingers started to go numb and I stopped being able to swallow solid food that I finally was diagnosed with a condition call Chiari 1 Malformation. Basically my brain had herniated into my spinal cord and was blocking the flow of CSF. So they went in, removed a small section of my skull, opened the covering of my brain and put a bovine patch in and removed part of my C1 and C2 vertebraes to make room for the fluid to flow. Recovery stunk but I feel great now and am hopeful that I can go a few years before I need a repeat surgery. There is no cure, just treatment, but I am lucky that it has worked so well for me, many other patients have not been so lucky.

Anyway, blah blah blah, sorry for the "all about me" post, just didn't want you all to think that I up and deserted for no good reason.

Hugs to all and hope you don't mind me slipping back in! :manyheart

Trish ~ I'm so glad to see your post! :)   So sorry that you have gone through so much and hope that everything stays okay now. :manyheart   Please come back often...we've slowed down a bit, but lots of us are still here!

Joanne ~ I hope you're having some "me" time after having to work this morning. :yes

Cindy ~ Enjoy the mountain views for us, too!

Marlene ~ It's wonderful that your DH decided to go to therapy. :hug   So many PTSD stories and it's all very sad.  I'm glad you've been able to spend more time with Maya!

Hi to Linda, Judy and the rest of the House, too!

We went out for brunch and then poked around a big antique mall.  We're starting to get some pricing ideas for the estate sale.  No one is interested in taking things on consignment here - if they were, we'd let them have it all!

Hello everyone. We are still enjoying the mountains. So far we have had wonderful weather. Yesterday we went to an art and craft show in Gatlinburg with bil and sil. I bought a neat handmade lantern. When sil saw it, she bought one too. There were literally thousands of people in that little town.. You could barely walk down the sidewalk.

Today we went to the national park. It was raining when we got to the higher elevations, and most of the park is closed. However the main road is open, and the parking areas and the nature trails are open. The more rugged hiking trails are barricaded. Dh considered it warm enough here today to go in the pool. I only went in the hot tub, I did not think it was that warm. We are tired from being out and about though, so we will probably stay in tonight and see if we can find a movie to watch. Otherwise, I brought games to play.

Trish, I'm sorry that life threw you such a curve ball! I'm glad that you responded well to treatment. One of my moms cousins has something that sounds very similar. For a while there it seemed like she was having surgery every year or so, but it's been quite a while now, since the last one.

Marlene, I hope your dh finds some help in therapy. I think the same as Judy.

Mary, I love poking around antique stores. I don't often buy anything, but a lot of what I see brings back memories.

Joanne, I hope work went smoothly and you are enjoying some well deserved downtime with dh and the rest of your family.

Hi all,

Trish- It's great to see a post from you--and like the others- glad that the curve ball you were thrown has ended up well. Take care of you! I think the only news from me that you may have missed is that I was blessed with my 2nd grandson in March. He's almost 7 mos now! And my oldest GS is 27 mos old. I love, love, love spending time with them, as limited as it is with my crazy work!!!

Cindy- Sounds like you are having a wonderful vacation. I had a lovely day yesterday with the GS after logging into work from home. Today I worked 10-2, stopped by DD's to let Belle out since they were gone for the day at an 80th birthday party for one of my son-in-laws relatives. Played with her for a bit, came home and have been relaxing ever since. I worked on the crocheted blanket- did 3 rows, and now I'm going back to the knitted scarf.  Enjoy the rest of your time away!

Marlene- I will echo what Judy and Cindy have said - both about PTSD and the Vietnam vets. Positive thoughts for your DH. Hope you enjoyed your time with Maya- which I'm sure you did.

Mary- Poking around antique malls is always a fun time. It always brings back lots of memories--I walk around saying things like- oh, my grandma had one of those...or my Mom had one of those...or my aunt had one of those....and on and on!!! Brunch is always nice too- Sounds like a good day for you!

To all the rest of the house--hope you all had a nice Sunday!

Hi, Trish - good to have you back! I hope you don't need any further treatments for a very, very long time!

Cindy, A hot tub sounds sooooo nice! Glad you're enjoying your time away.

Joanne, no more weekend work???

Hi, Linda, Mary and everyone - have a good night!

Trish - It's good to hear from you.  I'm glad that you are recovering well from your surgery.  I look forward to getting to know you.

Joanne - glad you had a good birthday!  Enjoy spending your bank card from DH.

Mary - that stinks about the bank.  I can relate because every time we do something with the name change, we have to start all over :(  And it really stinks that OU didn't show up yesterday :(  Congrats on the win.

Judy - Hope things are going well with you.

Got 6 dishcloths made for another wedding shower--she loves them but won't be using them for dishcloths :(  I just hate making something and then they don't want to use them.   And I'm back on crocheting on oldest GS granny square afghan.  I think I have 7 more to go around in white and then I can start sewing them together.  Then I get to start on the other one :)  The little one keeps asking if I'm making him one, I just tell him I'm working on something else for a Christmas present for his teachers or whatever else I can come up with.

Well the reports didn't get done on Friday, one boss didn't give me all the reports digitally, so I have to redo them.  And one the day care vans was rearended, so I had to go with the director to take care of the paperwork with the police.  Thankfully no one was injured, and the van isn't that bad but the lady that hit them, her car was totaled.  So now I get to deal with all the insurance stuff on this claim.

Well, I'm going back to crocheting and relaxing as I know tomorrow will be stressful and tiring.  Have a great evening all!!  Hugs to all of you.

Hi, Trish!  Glad to hear that things went so well after the surgery.  Welcome back.

I dropped the quilt off at church yesterday, but didn't stay for the service.  I definitely have a cold.  I'm going to rest as much as possible.  Yesterday I pulled out a project that I started several years ago.  It's a cape done all in oriental material on one side and in solids on the other side.  Rosie and I came up with the arrangement of the colors and I got the pieces cut out, but that's as far as it went at the time.  I now have about 1/3 of the oriental fabrics put together.  It's going together well and now I wonder why I waited so long to do this.   :think   Anyway it's under way now.

Marlene, praying for a successful surgery for DH and I'm so glad to hear that he is going to get some help with the PTSD.  That can really louse up your life.  And the Vietnam vets had an especially hard time of it.   :hug

Good Monday morning, all. :rain   We're finally getting some rain!

Linda ~ Hugs coming your way. :hug   I hope your cold doesn't last too long.  Your wip sounds like it will be lovely!

Sherry ~ Work sure doesn't sound like fun right now. :no   Keeping fingers crossed that things settle down a bit very soon!

Cindy ~ Gatlinburg is such a great town - I'm glad you had a good day with family. :)  How long will you be there?

Joanne ~ The grandbabies are growing up way too fast!  Luke is already reading some words and Zach is going to be walking any day and it happens so quickly.  But what a joy to have them! :c9  Looking forward to seeing your afghan and scarf. :yes

Hi to everyone at Our House. ♥♥♥♥♥

DH has a dental appt. at 1, so I will take a scarf to work on.  I've joined 6 rows of the hexagons, so it's not take-along friendly right now. :lol   Have a good day, ladies.

Hi Ladies,

Trish, Welcome back!  Glad your surgery was a success and I hope you don't need another one anytime soon.

Mary, We like going to antique stores to. It's fun to see things that my grandma's had.

Linda, Hope your cold doesn't hang around to long.

Joanne, Glad you got to spend time with the GS this weekend after having to work. They brighten are days.

Cindy, Some time in the hot tub would be wonderful. Glad the park is open so you can enjoy it while on your vacation.

Sherry, Maybe the new year coming will bring better things for your at work.

Judy, Hubby told me about people throwing things at them if they wore there uniforms home. It's to bad there wasn't the VA services for them as there is now. At least there is something. It's to bad that it is going to stop while we go to Texas, but he'll start it back up when we get home. I'll make the appts before we get back.

I didn't get home from Maya's until late last night. I had to stop by my sisters on my way home. Maya is learning about the earth and the moon in science class. One night last week when she was talking to grandpa he asked her if anyone has ever been to the moon. She said yes people have been to the moon didn't anyone tell you that. It was to funny.

I've been going through things in the back bedroom today. It is a storage/laundry room. I have a lot of my crocheting and other crafts in there. So today I sorted things. Threw some things out, making a donation box up of things I know I won't do.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Good morning!

Marlene- I'll bet it felt good to sort some things out! I told DH the other day that I would like to spend some time in the garage this weekend to get rid of some things--we'll see if that plays out or not!

Linda- That cape sounds like it will be very nice--sometimes projects just have to stay in 'time out' for a while- and then the urge to work on them comes back. I have the sunny spread waiting for 4 more squares to be done and then it's finished (well except for the joining) --I keep the bag of squares in my bedroom now so it's 'in my face' every night... :lol Hope you are feeling better and that the cold is short lived!!

Mary- I'd probably get more done on my son-in-law's afghan if it was more portable. The only time I can work on it is when I'm home--and then if I'm in the mood. LOL  Maybe tonight is the night I'll work on it....I would like to call it done soon--at least by the time we all go to Boston.  (so that gives me a couple of weeks)

Cindy--Thinking of you enjoying your vacation time!

Sherry- Glad you got some crocheting de-stressing time in. Hugs

Judy- Hoping to settle down soon around here-and then we can set up a date to meet at the Bux. May not be until Nov since all the weekends lost by having to work are showing in my house. Time to get fall cleaning done - and clothes sorted through etc

Hope you all have a good Tuesday---time for this gal to get ready!

Off I go! BBL!

Hi, all.  I started a knitted preemie hat last night.  Now I remember another reason I don't like to knit.  Dropped stitches!  With crochet I only have to locate one stitch to get going again.  With knitting it's usually many.  Last night I had multiple stitches come off the left needle multiple times.   :thair   Then to top it off, I had multiple stitches come off both needles.   :bang   When I finally got a row done without dropping any stitches, I quit for the night.  Hopefully I'll have better luck now that the ribbing is done and it's all just knit one row and purl the next.  It's for a preemie afghan I'll be making later this week for the October Charity CAL.  The afghan is 15 rows of a solid sided big granny square.

Mary, hooray for some much needed rain.   :yay

Cindy, a soak in a hot tub sounds heavenly.

Hi All, I survived the meeting last night but it was wwwwwaaaayyyyy too long.  I got home at almost 9, ugh.  I so hate those kind of meetings.  I have one more this month and then I get a break for 2 weeks and we're back at them again.

Joanne - hope those squares "get in your face" enough that you want to finish them.  I have a RR that I started for ME about 3 years ago.  It got put in a box when we moved the first time and it's still there--but it's in my bedroom now and I'm hoping that after I get all the Christmas stuff done, I'll be in the mood to get it done.

Linda - hope you're feeling better soon.  I'm with you on the knitting.  Dropped stitches are the reason I quit!  I'm much rather correct a mistake in crocheting, so much easier and usually no one knows but you what the mistake is.

Mary - glad you got some rain!  We got a LOT of rain last night--not to mention small hail, lots of lightning and high winds!!

Judy - hope things are going well with you!

Cindy - enjoy your time in the hot tub--I miss mine.

Well, I'd better go and get started on little man's afghan.  I got all the squares done for oldest GS, just need to hide tails and sew them together but that can wait as I need to get the other one started.  I was sooooo tired last night, I didn't do anything but eat and then go to sleep.

Everyone have a great evening!!!  Sweet dreams to all!

Good evening Housemates!

I had a few minutes on my sister's laptop and Crochetville let me in.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Linda, I hope you're taming your cold and feeling better.

Trisha H, Good to hear from you and glad you're feeling better.

Mary, We're still trying to wrap up my dad's estate.  Hopefully, we can close it out this week.

Cindy, I love the Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg.  Have fun and get some rest.

Sherry, I'm glad you're getting some crochet time.  I'm praying that you'll get deliverance from the stress in your workplace.

Marlene, My nephew orders food online all the time.  Hope all goes well with Hubby and your mother.

Joanne, I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday.  When are you going to Boston?  What's the occasion?

Judy, How are you?  How's Lucy and Sparky?

Marisa, Howdy,  how is your mom?  I hope all is well.  Is your practice still growing?

Well, I sign off for now.  Hopefully, I can come back tomorrow.  I miss you guys.

Have a good night everybody!

HI all, Happy Hump Day!

Val- Glad the 'ville' let you in from sister's computer. Are you working on any more commission items? We are all going to Boston to celebrate my youngest DD's 30th! This is what she wanted to do. My oldest, who lives up there is going to take 2 days off work, so we'll have a nice long visit with her as well. Looking forward to it!

Sherry- Sorry about the late night meeting. I know what it's like to just want to leave work- and there's still stuff to get done and you can't. Last night, I left around 5:50 and the traffic was a nightmare. Took me an hour 10 min to drive home-- (and I only live 7 miles away). Hoping for a better commute today...and a better day---although there is lots that is on my "To Do" list for today.

Linda- I don't like dropping stitches either- and still am learning how to retrieve them. I'm not a fast knitter by any stretch of the imagination....but I'm enjoying the process of learning!

HI to Judy, Marisa, Mary, Marlene, Cindy , Trish and Kiyo!

Off I go....

Good morning Housemates,

I'm allowed entry again.  I guess the problem is fixed.

Joanne - I'm sure you ladies are going to have a lot of fun together.  When is this trip?  I hope you have a great day at work today.  Hopefully, you will get to leave on time.  I have 2 blankets I complete 2 weeks ago.  I got a call this pass weekend for a potential order.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everybody.  I'll be back when I can.  Hopefully, my sister will let me on at least once a day until I get my laptop.

BBL.
