Easter "egg" doily

From the first time I saw this pattern (shown in plain white), I thought it would be fun to crochet the ovals in different colors to look like Easter eggs. I only just got it finished in time for this year--it's still pinned and blocking, as you can see.

 

 

 

 

 

I thought it would be fairly easy, but the "simple" motif was trickier than it looked, and after making 3, I discovered the error, and had to completely ravel and redo them. Then the joining was a little more complex than I realized, and in the end, this fairly simple-looking pattern was a lot more trouble than many more intricate designs. But I won, and there it is.

Here in Poland, there are several thread crochet magazines published each month. Many of the patterns I make, including this one, come from those magazines. Most of the doilies are in chart form, which I vastly prefer, so anyone can crochet from them.
