My afghans favorites are general in 4 categories:

  • Ripple's - Susan B's easy ripple

  • Granny Squares (63 crochet all 3 books fall into this category)

  • Cables - in crochet of course

  • Diagonal Stitch

I seem to be unable to do any thing smaller then a large afghan other then Dragons! Amguri are cute. I tried a Shawl. It turned into a diagonal stitch afghan:hook

I love patterns for making cute amigurumis....I am particularly fond of the Best Bunny on lionbrand's website.

I also love the ripple afghan, and have a pattern that uses double crochet and one that uses single crochet.

Finally, any type of scarf. I love to crochet scarves. I made 5 scarves in the past two months or so. They are easy to do, and you can take them with you.

The Susan Bate's Easy Ripple pattern seems to be popular. I tried to search online and couldn't get to it. Could someone please tell me if the pattern is in a book? Or is it online?

Thank you, Debbie

Star afghan here: http://thekidneybean.wordpress.com/crochet-patterns/chromium-star-blanket/

And the Vertical Stripe afghan here:

And almost anything from http://www.stitchdiva.com

At this very moment, those are my fave things, but only because that's what I'm working on. I'm making afghans for all the kiddos in my life for their bdays this year. Most are getting the star, but the oldest is getting the stripe (although completely in camo colors). I didn't think a 10 yo boy who hunts and rides 4-wheelers would appreciate a star shaped blanket.

I love all Chris Simon's squares that I've tried so far.

Priscilla Hewitt's Skipping Stones is really fun and easy. I good break from RR's as it is still round, but a different look and more texture. A great baby play blanket.

I also love the RR's, baby things, the Seija hat from SNBB-HH is so quick and easy.

I want to try more of the new wearables out from Gourmet Crochet. I also love grannysquares and dishtowel toppers.

  • 1 year later...

Popcorn stitch patterned afghans

Pieced motif afghans -- with flowers, stars, cats, whatever

Just about anything with lots of texture and variety of stitches

Recent favorite smaller patterns: Queen Anne's lace scarf (web freebie pattern), floral scarf from Terry Kimbrough's Victorian afghan strip, tulip cap (from suzies-yarnie-stuff.blogspot), ruffled scarf (Caron pattern), pumpkin hat for kids (from an etsy purchased pattern)

Perennial favorite: Priscilla's scalloped potholder

I love the round ripples they work up so fast:)

I love them too. They are fast and people who don't crochet think that they are so cute but hard to make. Little do they know they are one of the simplest patterns to do. Once you get the center done, it just goes really fast.

I was asked to make another afghan for a auction, and I have some nice maroon yarn, so maybe a rr is the trick for the auction.
