I started a second one yesterday in the size 3. So I now have one in size 10 and one in size 3. They are both current and wow the size difference is so much. lol I didn't expect the 3 to be that much bigger than 10. Thank you so much for doing this it's really helping me feel more comfortable with thread again.

So if we have made two, we could put them side by side, make 2 long chains and attach it to the sides of them. Then they would be suspenders for the can pants :lol:lol:lol

I need a nap!!

This is so very pretty so far...I'm going to have to start buying name brand cans instead of store brands for something this fancy!

...and I think I know what it is.... and if its not... then I'm going to have to try to make one of what I think it is :D clear as mud huh?

Hi Everyone! Hope all of you are doing well. Sorry I had to miss yesterday! Haven't read all your posts but happened to see yours, LEA, about the can pants! We are just falling out of our chairs here over that one! :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl Just too cute! I'm glad I caught that before posting my Bush's Beans Can Pants.

th_BushsBeansCanPants.jpg

I got that bump on row 3 in the top of the photo (the BLO) smoothed out after the pic. Didn't notice it until then.

Is row 5 supposed to be on the bottom? It's too pretty to hide. Of course, in the final outcome, maybe it won't be hidden???

It looks like you all have some very pretty colors. I didn't make it to Michaels...farther away than Hobby Lobby, Meijer's (regional store) and Wal-Mart who didn't have a good selection of colors.

Gotta go look at as many posts and pics as I can and get caught up on today's rounds. That is, if mine is okay as it is. If not, I'll just :cry and pout!!!

I'll be waiting and hoping for the OK, Sarah!

I started a 2nd one in varigated purple. It's really pretty. And much smaller than the first one I am doing. I haven't tried it on the soda can yet. It should fit on there snuggly I would think.

It's pretty embarassing when I am crocheting in a public place (like I just now was..at a meeting) and people ask you what you are making and you say, "I have no idea!" They just look at you like you are rude or crazy. hee hee It was one of the passing kinda questions- like "how are you?" And you keep on walking. Otherwise, I would have given them the long explanation. :D

I haven't seen any pictures yet. So I need to see if I've done these right. Here are the 2 I have started, along with the colors I'm going to be using with them:

ctmpphp3YNt70.jpg

As I've said before, I'm partially colorblind and that color on the right doesn't look like either of the 2 thingies you made. Am I that color blind? You guys can all laugh...doesn't bother me...but the one on the right looks blue to me! I'm probably making a fool of myself, but that's okay! :confused:loco:neener:haha:laughroll Enjoy the laugh! :lol

All three colors are pretty...or all two, whichever it is! If that one on the right is blue, then I really love that color!

my pants fit a can of green bean! this is fun .... let's keep going

crochet hooks in a padded cell maybe but no thread or yarn, we might get tangled in it and not be able to get out!

I hope we can all get a padded cell together and keep our hooks and threads!

Please just tolerate my comments...I know they're way behind the times...but I missed participating! :(

KnicKnac, thanks for the link. I think I've got it. Here we go. I opted to leave the can out of the pic because it was hiding row 5. This is #3 Bridal White with a 2.35mm hook and it's still a little big for a 20 ounce can. That's a mystery to me :shrug Brenda

Congrats on posting your pic!

Jeannie, I have problems with blues and greens myself, but the colors of the threads do not match the colors of the already made items! :lol

I see purple and orange and green and cream.

I don't know what anyone else sees.

I've been gone most of the day and hurried and finished today's 'mystery' before I started reading the posts..... Maybe I should have read first for a change. Then I would have known that I'm not the only 'loon' around here! My hubby came home and caught me with all the canned food from our pantry stacked around my recliner. I told him I must be a lot looser than I thought and that none of my cans would fit! He informed me that something must be loose!!!! Then when he saw my cans with their 'pants'.... well he decided that I have been cooped up too long this winter!!! And on top of that I had to tell him that "I have no idea what I'm making" So here are my pictures (before my DH has me committed!!!) :eek

ctmpphpDo6wcQ.jpg

And BTW I usually don't take pictures of my groceries!

:lol:lol :rofl :rofl !!!!

Everybody's can pants fit so good! Mine are too loose up the side, I think. Probably gonna have to try #5 thread.

Yeah, Sarah, Sweetie, you must be too uptight!:lol:lol:lol But we all love you and thank you for all the hard work you put into doing this. I know it takes a lot of time! It's gotta really be hard sizing up soda pop can pants! And then we all make bean can pants, Manwich can pants, plastic pants, etc. I can't remember 'em all. The can population will be well dressed and have to have a fashion show! :lol

Yeah, sometimes I get my shades of blues and purples mixed up. Those other colors in the pic I don't dare guess!:hug:manyheart

Finished reading all the posts...don't know how thoroughly I read them, but I finished. So now to try to sum it all up in just one more post. Sorry I inundated you all with posts, but I have to get my count up!

Welcome to all of you who have joined in! Glad to have you debzie, a new neighbor! crafterjackie, miller3602, Addey, JazziBlu, and everyone else. Don't won't to miss anyone!

Like your new siggy, Brenda!

Mel, love the can pants suspenders!

That's right, Lea! If you're gonna dress up your cans, then you gotta have the finest cans, right? And yeah, we have to call Martha! Maybe Vanna...she'd be supportive of the Can/Plastic Pants Crochet Fashion Show.

SARAH, hurry home from church! I wanna try to guess by pm'ing you. That crinoline doll prize is just too good not to try for! Also, I need to know if mine through day 2 is gonna be okay. I'm afraid it's too loose :( . And I don't even know if I have any #5 thread. Gotta go look!

Hey Loopy, thanks for all your support. :2hug I really like the blue you're working on. I changed colors for rows 10 & 11. It's the Warm Rose and I love how it looks with Bridal White. I showed mine to my Pastor's wife today and she took a guess...but, I'm not tellin' since we are not guessing. :heehee Are we having fun or what!

I have a really dumb question. How do you tell if thread is #3 or 10 or whatever? I am looking at these pics and thinking that the thread looks much thicker than what I am using. I am using just knit-cro-sheen.

I think I am doing something wrong too because my numbers aren't coming out. But it is all even so I guess it is good?

LauraLee, I didn't notice if you got your question answered or not. But if all your thread is Knit-Cro-Sheen, then it's most likely #10. However, even in the same # category, threads can vary slightly in size. It's a frustrating thing!

Here are a couple of sites that may be of some help. I couldn't find any charts or such as that. There may even be some help here on the Ville but didn't look yet. I Google'd "crochet thread sizes". Maybe you or someone else can think of better search terms than I did. But here's what I got:

http://www.dmc-usa.com/majic/pageServer/1f010000io/en_US/Crochet-Tools.html

http://www.crochetmemories.com/crochet1.php

A suggestion for everyone: I keep the wrappers from my threads and slip them inside the cores.

Brenda, mine is white! :heehee Camera translation fails us here!

Wish it was blue! The only colors I have are white, bridal white and warm rose, which I love the warm rose. And someone's was in bridal white and looked pretty in the pic. Maybe bridal white and warm rose will be pretty together.

But, then, I just remembered, I've got to find some #5 thread; think I have some here somewhere. Cause my #3 can pants, what's the word I've seen used? are wonkers or something like that.

Actually there are FOUR colors total in this pic. :) The ones that are made are 2 different colors and the skeins of thread are 2 more colors.

I really did think there were 4 different colors but I was sure I was wrong and that the ball and can pants bottom on the left were the same color. Assuming that, I figured the 2 on the right had to be the same color but I said, " :no :no :2nono " they can't possibly be! But I really did think there were 4 different colors!!!! I had it right and didn't know it! :cheer:clap

Being partially color blind is a disability; I think I read that somewhere. And it's unusual for a girl to be partially color blind; the gene comes from the father. I don't think women are ever totally color blind, but I could be wrong. That's our science lesson for today.

I do get lots of laughs with it and funny looks when I mess up! I learned early never to say, "I love that purple blouse!" because I'd always be wrong! So I had to turn it around to laugh about it and with 'em. I told a boss one time I liked his pretty tie (it was multi colored, striped, I think). He said, "How would you know? You can't see the colors!" He wasn't being mean, just teasing! :lol:lol
