Hi Everyone! Thanks for birthday wishes! It was a nice birthday! Maya said if it was my birthday then we had to have cake. So I picked up a small cake at meijer's well getting groceries.

The house has been busy over the last two days. I just finished reading all the posts.

Julie the button games sounds like fun. Iam game. I can't remember if I told you how nice your afghan for Cam turned out. And the pic sure looked like he was happy to have it.

Tab your pea pod is so cute! It's nice you'll have a new niece so close to spoil and play with. Congrats on the new car. I always use Aggie Mays pattern for my rr.

Diane your citrus grove afghan turned out nice, it looks great. That's a nice find on your treasure hunt.

Marisa your octagon looks nice.

Wanda congrats on finishing your 63.

Mary it is so much fun being a grandma. I have 5 step grandkids and I love them just like there my own blood. But when my first grandbaby was born and I was there to hold him it was awesome. I've been lucky enough to be there for the other two also. We take care of one of are 3 yr old gds. My son and daughter both have a three yr old they are a month apart. We enjoy Maya so much. My hubby even asked me once why we didn't have a baby (this is a second marraige for both of us) and I told if we would of he wouldn't retired when he did. Besides I was in my 40's and I feel for me that is to old to be giving birth. That's why god makes grandchildren.

Linda I'm so glad your back in the house with all of us. We all certainly missed you.

Linda your fireman sounds really cute. Kids do some funny things sometimes.

Jennifer good luck with your finals.

Judy it's so nice of you to make the shawl for your neighbor.

Tam hope your feeling better soon!

Ally I hope today is a better day than yesterday.

Cindy enjoy your weekend. It may be busy but some memories are being made. Congrats to your daughter graduating from college. Congrats on the new computer to.

My daughter (Maya's mom) is here she came up last night and will stay until friday morning then she is off back to work.

SD and hubby are signing papers tomorrow to buy there first home. It was suppose to be today but things got changed. They bought a foreclosurer home. It wasn't busted up either. It has an in ground pool so not much of any yard to mow. It has new siding and windows and it has wood floors and for what we seen where there isn't carpet the floors should be in good shape. There going to paint and pull the carpet up. We want to help them move but not sure it will work out with everyones schedule. Were free except for sunday but sil has to work saturday. So will see what happens.

I need to check out the yarn on making a rr for the two new babies being born.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Afternoon everyone, I've been doing laundry since I don't have my grandbaby today. I still have to do my bible study for tonight's meeting. How is everyone doing. I was happy last night to get some knitting and crocheting in. I am trying my hand at this pattern also:

http://family.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474977270508

I'll see how it goes. The last time I attempted this type of pattern I failed at it and end up throwing it in the garbage. :lol:lol Now I'm trying again. I'm only using two colors and I'm using the two skeins that I have on hand of Berant Handicrafter cotton in tangerine and a varigrated pink, white, and orange skein. If I suceed then I can join up for the CAL going on in Our House so I'll keep you posted how it goes. BBL :hug

Hey gang

Sorry, I took a little siesta -- just woke up .

For the ones who saw the button game post then wondered where it went, thought I'd holf just a bit til I get another project completed .

Sheila- sorry to hear about the job situation -- it's pretty scarey out there right now for everyone. I hope your husband isnt off permanently ,or he can find something else quickly .

Guess I oughta put something in here regarding crochet -- still at the same spot I was this morning on the RR . I've done quite a bit in one week on it, but not sure how much bigger I'll go ...

we;ll see, I may just start one of those vertical stripe afghans next-- I know I saw a pattern awhile back for one someplace. I have a lot of yarn of many HUES .

I'm glad he didn't show up at work just to be told to go back home, but it's too bad that was the correct list and not the other one. Love the idea of the Honey Do list. :lol :lol

Hi ladies

I found a new pattern for another round afghan while I was stumbling around today ,just in case anyone might wanna try it someday - or maybe you've already seen it :

http://www.llewellyn.com/journal/article/1267

That's a neat border on the round afghan.

Kim and I are done with our running around for the day. The bone density test went very smoothly. We had one too many people trying to help with the mammogram and Kim got to feeling claustrophobic and fought them. When I finally got the third person to back off, we were eventually able to get all the shots they wanted. It was a battle by then though. I told them that I knew how to get her to cooperate, but it was like they weren't really listening to me. They did thank me for my help multiple times. Kim was soooo happy to get out of there. And everything was okay so we don't have to go back for a year. Yeah! :cheer We went to lunch and then to WalMart. There were some things that I hoped to get and wonder of wonder all but one of them were still there. I filled in a number of holes in my material stash. Mostly blues and purples with a little in the pinks thrown in too.

*Does anyone know where I can buy fairly cheap washable wool yarn? I need a brand that offers a variety of colors such as brown, tan, off white, navy bllue or blue, hunter green. Any advice or ideas? I looked arouns alot yesterday online and the ones that I saw have few to no colors or are not washable. :think

Linda

I'm glad that Kim's mammogram came out ok - that is always a relief to have a clear answer for that test. I dont blame her for fighting them -it's not exactly a fun test and pretty uncomfortable and embarrassing . The best part is when it's done and they say you are fine .

I'm glad you found most of the items you needed at walmart . It is sometimes hard at our walmart too, unless you get there right after they get a new shipment of stuff put out .

Tab- I can't think of very many inexpensive yarns like you are mentioning unless you go with Vanna's-- and that isn't inexpensive ( to me, anyhow) .Also maybe Lion Brand may have some that you might like. Red Heart is always the lowest cost ,but if you want a higher quality, then you need to pay higher money .

I'm not familiar with like the Herrschner's brand or any of those .

Good luck ~

Linda - you're a real trooper - handling Kim would be way beyond my abilities, that's for sure.

I just got the Microsoft Office up and running on the new laptop, wrote a letter in Word, and managed to print it from the master bedroom onto the printer in the office. Yeah!:cheer I'm so proud of myself. I had to do a little fumbling around, but now I know exactly where to go and what to do. Whee! :cheer

I haven't got a clue on where to find washable yarn in pretty colors.

Kim & I are about to have supper and then relax until bed time. I think I'll work on cutting out more of the horses for their hats. John gets home tomorrow night and then I'll have a couple of days off. This has just been a super busy month.

Hello Everyone!!!

Had a very long day- didn't get out early as I'd hoped- actually got out later than usual! But I was very busy today so for some strange reason I'm not tired----yet!

Congrats Judy on the Greek games win!! :clap That's awesome!! And good news about DH's Dr. appt!

Julie- I thought I was losing my mind when there were posts about a button game- I was thinking to myself- what button game? Did I miss something here? :think:lol

LeAnna- Hope you are almost home- and that things will start to get back to normal!:manyheart

Linda- Glad to hear that Kim's tests are done for another year! And that's great that you were able to pick up some needed things at Wally World!! And the best news was your post about how positive you felt today!! That made my day!!!:yes

Marisa- Have a great weekend with the fam!! And I will be rooting for the Bruins against your Flyers- sorry friend, but my DD in Boston is a Bruins fan! I honestly don't think that the Bruins can beat the Flyers (just like the Devils couldn't), but I've got to support my DD's team. And I really don't like the Penguins cause I'm sick of Crosby this and Crosby that- :lol ....so if the Flyers end up playint the Penguins, I'll be rooting for your team then!:lol

Marlene- Glad to hear that you had a great birthday! And congrats to your stepdaughter and her DH on the new house! That's always exciting!

Mary- Hope you had fun petting yarn today!

Tabitha- Not sure where to buy cheap washable wool yarn but I'll keep my eyes and ears open! How did the Dr appt go today- and did you decide to :crocheting or nap?

Cheeria- My first RR came out all wonky. I think I'm going to attempt either Crochet Dad's 9 point ripple or the other one Judy linked to. I also have Aggy Mays RR pattern. Or I just may do a large granny in as many colors as i can. Haven't decided yet

Cindy- Hope you have a great weekend- and Kudos to your DD on graduating college!!!!

Ok, all, I'm starting to fade- time to turn on the yankees, do a few more rows of the ghan and then call it a night

Sorry if I didn't mention everyone here- but once again I'm in my chair with the laptop, no pencil or paper to right down what everyone's been up to and I'm going on memory here- :lol

Have a good one!:hug

We are like 2 ships that pass in the night lately -- sing along everyone, Barry Manilow is in the House !!

Joanne-wow, you have had one long day --get some rest !

Linda- great job on getting that new computer figured out --you'll get it .

Tab- sorry you had such a bad Dr visit. I have had the same thing happen a LOT in the past couple years. Always rough when you come out with some news you weren't ready for ,or a test is ordered,or they are sending you to a specialist -- it can get scarey .

Hope things improve for you .

Thank you all for the words of love and encouragement, I really needed them. Here's our little bio: Hub-E was born at West Point, his father was career military, and he ended up being career military himself, retiring officially from the Army a couple of years ago as a Lt. Col. However, the last 13 years of his service he was a Reservist, so what we were doing in Germany all those years (9) was working basically the same job as in the Army, as a Private Contractor. When we finally decided to make the move home, I was insisted that I come home in 2008, but when he went to file for his Army retirement, some things came up beyond his control and he needed to keep working and the original plan was for him to only work 9 months...well, his company lost their contract in Germany and he had to hustle to get another gig with them in the states and the only thing that came up was in Virginia...well...he'd always said that whatever job he got stateside, he'd feel obligated to work one year with them...so our 18 months apart has been because of that obligation...

Technically I'm a military spouse...but I came into the game late, so I didn't ever have to do what the vast majority of military spouses have to do, although one good military spouse friend of mine reminded me the other day, "not many would have done 9 years abroad and not many would do 18 months apart..." and this friend of mine has a husband who has been deployed 3 times at least to Iraq and his next deployment is already scheduled...

Anyway...Hub-E's first marriage, his wife then was also military and they spent 2/3's of their marriage apart...when he married me, he was insistent that we'd never be apart more than a couple of months...and he kept his word...but you know life happens and things have to be reviewed and discussed for the betterment of whatever we're trying to do. And with maybe one or two exceptions, he actually still kept his word because we had several visits back and forth, so on average, we saw each other almost every other month. It only works if both people are on the same page.

That and webcam daily visits helped too.

So that's our story...both of us will look for at least part time work, but we do have his retirement pay to live on...the extra money would be for projects towards the house. Which needs serious work.

Thanks for listening.
