Shadow Box Doily

I made this Blue Hearts doily from Annie's Attic Easy One Day Doilies.

Of course, it took me longer than a day! LOL! I mounted and framed it in a 12x12 black shadowbox frame for a wedding gift. The depth doesn't show up too well, but it is about 2 inches deep. Another way to use doilies! I used Cebelia white size 10 thread and a 7 hook. Pic is clickable.

Actually, Chris, it is sewn on. I centered the doily face down on the back side of the mat board and used push pins to locate where I wanted to stitch the doily to the board. Then I removed the pushpins and turned everything over to the right side and started stitching. It doesn't require a lot of stitches to hold it in place becaue I stiffened it first before mounting, so there would be less chance of sagging.

 

Thanks for the compliments, everyone!!! I will deliver it tomorrow even though it is Christmas, because I missed the wedding and so this will be the first chance to see them since then. Anyhoo, I hope they like it!
