Snowflakes on Red

This one was for my mom's first winter in the cold U.P. The pattern is here. I made it in red because she was down in the dumps and it seemed cherrier than the dark blue.

Yep. I'm not sure but I think it was Hot Red.

 

I think it would look really cool with the main color in Jiffy and Wool Ease Chunky in Tinsel White for the snowflakes. That white has a neat sparkle to it that would be perfect for snowflakes. It would be really soft, too! Hmm maybe I need to make one like that for myself. As much as I detest joining squares, this one was a lot of fun to make. I joined each strip as I went along, then joined the strips to each other as I got them done, so it wasn't too bad.

Thanks everybody:manyheart . When I mailed this to my mom I also included a red mug and some cocoa mix, an Alice Hoffman book, a candle, and her ruby slippers so she could use everything at once. She said she keeps the afghan in her dresser drawer along with the candle so it smells yummy when she cuddles up in it.
