MelissaC - The pattern can be found here. It's a doily pattern, and you just use yarn and a larger hook. I used an I or J and sport or fingering weight yarn (it was about 8 threads wound together).

The idea to use the doily pattern wasn't mine though, I think ChattyCrafty was the first one to do this. If you look through the forum, several ladies have made this.
