Granny Squares for those that need them cal 2018

Katy pretty set.  TC just didnt seem right--- not as active and at times seemed to be breathing hard.  I was having to hold my breath to see which one of us was squeaking.  We took her into the vet instead of waiting for her annual visit next month.  He gave her a shot and said it may be the onset of feline asthma and that the pollen is really bad this year.  She is back to her normal self for now.  Some mornings dh had been taking her outside for a few minutes. Then he sits in the floor to watch tv with her curled up on his legs.  His clothes were covered in pollen from being in the garden or mowing so now he has garden clothes and changes out of them before being around her.  We have a mid sized carrier I used to carry her to the vet but it was cumbersome especially for a less than 10 pound cat.  My aunt gave me a small soft one which worked pretty good.  The inside lining has deteriorated and flecking off.  We looked at getting another soft one but all 4 sides were mostly mesh.  We thought she would feel safer in the hard one at the vets office when the resident cat comes over to check her out.   TC is terrified of other cats as that is probably what tore her up before we adopted her.  She was so little when it happened she wasnt even a handful.

Be careful cshort.  They closed the schools here for Today and Tomorrow.  We are still watching this storm.  Unless the storm takes a drastic turn into the ocean, we will get some effect from the storm.

The Gov was just on and he said the Tanker Gas Trucks are getting police escorts so they can get the gas to the stations.  They are doing a great job here.

The East coast is being evacuated and it looks like they will get the blunt of it.

My thoughts and prayers are with them, and we are keeping an eye on this storm.

Mary Jo dh keeps asking where does Tampa Doll live?  He has been/is really concerned about you and Tampa Guy. Yesterday they showed the traffic around Tampa on the news here. Then he asks if more of you are in FL so I tell him about Carol and remind him TurtleLvr is in Daytona.  I also reminded him about his distant cousin that we met after she retired to FL.  I think this will be her first hurricane.  We wish Irma would just wear herself out before getting any where close to any of you. Heart to Heart is packing up units to head out and wait in GA with medical supplies and personal hygeine kits.

Katy my niece's cat and the neighbor's Boston Terrier both had respiratory issues.  One of their main triggers were those plug in air fresheners which I dont use.  I try to be careful with scented stuff and chemicals as I have problems too. Its been a horrible allergy season for me this year.  Mucinex is my best friend.  My eyes have been so gunky its hard to see and some mornings they were stuck shut til I rubbed or washed them.

Brenda, tell DH if he finds Tampa to go West.  He will see this little piece that sticks out.  That is us.  We are near Clearwater and St. Petersburg.  We have the bay on one side and the Gulf on the other side.

Right now our feels like are over 100 degrees and we are watching the storm.  We have people leaving who are disabled.  Actually they called for evacuation in zone A and B.  Low lying areas and beach areas.  Not us yet.

CShort and Turtlelvr are in more danger than we are.

Good Morning.

All is still calm here. I went out to the bank early this morning to get some cash just in case we need it. Then I came home and did laundry and baked cookies and brownies, yummy comfort foods. Now I'm doing some sewing. My dad said he is going to need me to help him move some things but he's not ready yet. He is moving smaller things, I asked what I could do to help and he said nothing for right now. Everyone in the storms path be be careful and stay safe.

All ready here.  We just brought everything in from around the pool.  The bird baths are turned over and put next to the wall.

Wed and Thurs they evacuated beach areas, low lying areas, mobile homes and disabled, in Pinellas County and Tampa.  If we have to evacuate the place to go is just up the street, so we should be ok.  I am more worried about the east coast.

Lyn this is the first hurricane we have had in a long time.  Charlie was in 2004.  One thing to remember.  Florida like Texas, knows what they are doing when it comes to hurricanes.  It is just a sit and wait now.

Take care Carol and anyone else in the path.

Mary Jo found you on the atlas.  Carol it listed your city in the directory but when I checked the area it sent me to on the map I still didn't see it. I am scared for you all too.  At one point here they felt it was going to go pretty much up the middle of the state and still be a 3 when it hits Atlanta.  I hadn't checked yet today to see what they are saying.  Electric crews from here are headed that way.

Well Mary Jo on a lighter note did you stay up and watch the game last night?  I saw the last quarter and was surprised and happy with the outcome. It was kind of sweet to spoil the predictions of that other team's no loss season.   I had checked a few times earlier and was just happy to see that KC wasn't losing by a big difference.

I feel guilty.  The only thing wrong with the stretch of weather we are having is the ragweed pollen.  Tomorrow we are planning on going to the Renaissance Festival for the Highland Fling weekend.  Since our anniversary is next week and he really wants to go I promised dh I would go no matter how bad I was feeling from my allergies.

Go here and put in the town and state.  This is Google Maps.  I use it all the time when I am sending out a tote.

Well, they are not sure if it will stay on land, or go out to the Gulf.  That decides what we get from this storm.  We will get winds that will go north at one point, then turn and go south and could turn and come from the east.

They say they can tell more tomorrow, when it gets on the radar.

Yeah I saw some of the game.  I fell asleep when it was 28-27.  I was surprised.  I got up this morning and asked Tampa Guy if the Pats left the field?  42-27  Way to go Fat Andy and KC.  That was so cool.

Shutting down for a while.  Storms coming in that have nothing to do with the hurricane.  Fun times in Florida.

Good Morning Ladies.

Brenda, I am just south of Fort Lauderdale but far enough inland that we are not in an evacuation area.

The latest storm track is looking like Mary Jo may get a more direct hit than I will. But all of Florida is going to be affected by this storm, it's a monster in size. And it's going to take it a while to fizzle out after it hits land so states north of Florida need to be ready for lots of rain and wind. The outer bands have started to reach the Keys (islands off the southern tip of Florida) and the southern most part of the main land, this area is starts at about an hour south of me. The beaches directly east of me are also very, very windy at this time. I'm planning to hang out in my sewing room as long as we have power, I need to stay busy, I told my daughter that it's my therapy room.
I will try to keep in touch and if/when we lose power I will get back to all of you as soon as I can.

I'm praying for everyone in Irma's path.

We are actually in a no evacuation zone.  The shelter is just up the street, so even with the storm surge, we should be ok.  We are not being asked to evacuate.  It has jogged more to the west, so we are going to get hit.

We have a to go bag ready to go, the laptops can be put in the car if needed.  If needed, we have a room to go to, if one of the windows break.  I have all my paperwork in plastic bags and ready to take.

We are as ready as we can be.  The St. Pete airport closed yesterday and the Tampa airport will close at 8PM tonight.

My big worry is not if, but when the electricity goes.  Like I said we have good neighbors who can lend a hand if needed.

Everyone in Florida, please make sure you are ready, if they tell you to get out and if not, make sure you have everything you need for several days.

I may not be back on, but when I can, I will be here.

latest  track includes tampa taking the surge the rain and the winds too  fl keys took a hit as did some other smaller islands and cuba too it hung out there fo ra while i guess  thing is Jose is behind it!! fl more so than tx was i  think is way more preparing for it i was impressed how the gov covered so many good preps being done in advance of this so called "nuclear" storm as one reporter defined it   i feel better now hearing that and that so many have heeded the evac orders  yhis can be really a killer so glad most are doing what is recomended

I wonder what kind of preps if any disneyworld takes?? i see the zoos are sheltering inside to weather it out as they are safer there than they would be moving the animals  too much stress i would think and the inside dwellings are very safe and strong

i guess you are all douing all you can and i really hope this storm is not as destrctive as  they say

hwy we lost warren the other day a 9 yr old elephant at HenryDoorly zoo here in Omaha  they dont know why yet as he seemed in good health and was only 9 years  old  relatively young for elephants so   an autopsy will tell them im sure which is in progress as we type   i guess all the other elephants stood in a mourning circle around him and each in turn would touch their trunks to his body at some point  in some farewell way     How flipping sad is that  i wanted to cry

i wish i had some bbright news for you all darn it  stay safe and come out on the other side of this we'll see ya there!!:ghug

I'm still here and still have power. So here is the update,  We are having a lot of rain and wind.In my county there are several thousand people without power and in the county south of me there are over 40,000 without power. All of the shelters that were opened are at capacity so people definitely took this storm seriously. There have been several tornado warnings and one confirmed sighting. They say the worst is yet to come so we'll see what comes next. Stay safe everyone.

Stay everyone. I am sending my prayers and hugs to everyone in the paths way. Please stay safe. Check in as soon as you so we know you all alright. They say its massive and will hit the entire state of Florida. I believe we are out of harms way for it shifted West. I have been preparing for it, so hopefully we don't hit hard or at all. But time will tell.

Take care everyone. Hugs and sending love to all.
