  1. hello and welcome to you all. welcome to our members and any new members or want to be members you have come to the right place. It is pretty simple really, we like to make granny squares. We found the best way to do it was to open up a thread on whom might want or need granny squares to maybe help complete an afghan for themselves or charity or anyone they chose. Every one could use some help as sometimes collecting enough squares seems daunting for any one single person. If you would like to join us and make or receive some squares here is the info I will need from you to get you on our list. We have some angel members that only send out squares at this time ANd a lot of us do both send out and receive some that is up to you Again you do not have to send out to receive squares. Here is an example of the info you will need to send to me through a pm please do not do not post your personal info on the thread as that is just asking for spam. Info as follows.if you were on the list but are no longer please just let me know and send me your info and ill get you back on ok Example: Anne Ghan ( your name first and last ) 1234 Square Plaza. (Your address) Friendship Springs Ne. Zip code here. Email address and BIrthday month optional size color and preferences for squares you like or need as we will pm you to ask for your addy if we have some squares to send to you its as easy as that Most of us use RHSS or a comparable 4 ply acrylic yarn. So if you would prefer 6 inch ( or 8 or 12) squares In shades of greens for instance it could read as such. . "I am looking for 8inch squares in shades of greens or blues. varigated yarn is ok if in those shades, thank you please pm me for addy " . Please check this post regularly for updates and changes. until i can get info on an update i would advise that you contact the party for current wants and or needs thank uou !! . You do not have to send in order to receive it is up to you if you would like to send out some as well to our members We have lots of talented and generous people on this thread and w like to chat so if you are looking for some squares or some new friends or some New Square Friends then please join us. You might end up with a truly one of a kind Ghan that soon becomes one of your favorites not to mention some friends you might make !! we need some new members to "square" for!! 2. Hello. My name is Mary and I'm from Albuquerque in New Mexico. I've been crocheting for more than 30 years. I enjoy all types of projects but love to create afghans and thread tablecloths and doilies. I have a small business called "Feelin' Crafty Yarnworks" where most of my completed projects land, but mostly I enjoy sharing what I'm working on with the world. Here are a couple of projects I've completed. Looking forward to engaging in this forum.
  3. I have been crocheting since a teen and am now in my late 30’s. I’ve dabbled throughoutbthe years but have recently really got into it. 6. I am anxiously waiting for retirement so all I have to do is crochet and do crafting. I am gathering patterns and organizing my craft room. I have eight grandchildren that are pitter-pattering into their teens and have less to do with Nana than before so I have even more time on my hands... !!! I look forward to access to great free patterns from this great group.
  7. Hello, I am in Dighton, KS, retired from USDA-FSA Office, mother of 3 grown children, and grandmother to the most wonderful grandchildren ever born. Love to crochet.
  8. Hi peeps, My name is Gayle and I've been visiting the site for a few years now, collecting and purchasing patterns so I thought I might as well join the community so I could thank you all for all the projects and ideas you've provided me. Thank you! Anyway, give me a shout out and we'll compare callouses on our knuckles! Oh yeah, crochet isn't my only interest; just the main one; but I also embroider and do plastic canvas. Of course I have gone through more steel hooks than I thought possible and I have dabbled in Knit (although those were the ugliest brown slippers I have ever seen!!!). Anyway, that's me, howdy everyone.
  9. Hi all, I just moved to my own apartment recently and have been saving this incredibly soft bamboo cotton yarn for a blanket for my new place. I decided to alter an older design of my own for a bag to make into large squares for the blanket. I had mostly white and a bit of pink yarn saved up for this project and so decided to use the pink to create relief stitches to outline the design on the squares after the squares were done. Let me know what you think. I have written up the pattern and am looking for testers for the pattern. Do check out the thread in the forum if you are keen to test the pattern for me. Thanks.
  10. HI everyone. well it's delivery day tomorrow for my Open Door Mission donation, and I have it all packed up in two large boxes, and loaded in the car!! I didn't take a pic of everything, but have some to show you anyways, of basically the hats and scarves, and a couple of the scarf and hat sets, so here goes, enjoy...First pic is of hats, second pic is of a couple scarf sets with all the hats piled up behind them, third pic, more hats, and the last pic is some of the rolled up scarves, and hats behind them, he he....enjoy! I did not picture the baby ghans, but darn it, but there were 8 of them, asst. sizes.. The gal i spoke with, tells me, those are always first to go, as the parents absolutely love them!! best thing, this charity, GIVES away everything, they never charge for anything they have there, but disperse it to those that need it, and they get to walk through the "store" and pick anything they need, for free, I like that idea!!
  11. I haven't been able to log in for a long while, and I just realized I had not shared links to the afghans or hats I've created... Summer of Color Afghan Wiggle Flower Afghan Fjord Beanie Super Slouchy Slopestyle Hat
  12. I am Shanita Am 45 and I find myself crocheting all the time, at home, at work, on the weekends. Early mornings and late nights. I have joined almost every crochet site I come across and am always looking for new and interesting patterns to work on. In the last two months I have completed 5 afghans and have to in the works right now. Hoping to meet interesting people here and have some fun crocheting.
  13. Hi all, been catching up with some donation things I did in the past few weeks, for Sept Delivery, to one of our local hospitals, and to the Emerg. Preg. Center here as well.. Im addig more to it, as this month goes on... The first one shown, is a preemie sized blankee, (as requested by a contact I have at my preferred hospital) and is adorned with a matching hat, as they all arel....the hats were fun , fast, and easy to make! I used smaller balls, and partial skeins on them.the first one is made from two strands of baby yarn, asst. colors, held togheter throughout. The hats take very little yarn I found out too. which is a perfect way to use up those partials and balls... Second shown, is a baby afghan made with all small 3 inch grannys, trimmed and bordered in pink! This also can be classified as a preemie blankee, i think, albeit a bit bigger than the first. I love the border in pink, so included of course, a pink hat! The third afghan was made with scraps and balls, of caron simply soft, for which I didn't have enough of it for anything else, and wanted to use it all up. All the solid color centers are caron ss, and the trim would be Hobby Lobbys I Love this Yarn, in white. THe hat that went the best with it is all white. and last but not least, is the fourth afghan, made from again, the two strands of the baby yarns held together. The border again, is HL I love this Yarn, in white. Then I made some ( loomed and crocheted)hats to go the the emerg. preg center, they will accompany anymore small baby afghans i send or am able to make in the mean time, or they will go as is, as simply hats! or I might add some little baby socks to them and make sets, see what i can do in that respect! so, hoping this has been nice eye candy for you, I loved working in pastels for a change, AND still am not out of baby yarns to use, lol Thanks for looking, hope it spurs you on to donate to your local favorite charity as well!!
  14. A co-worker of mine is collecting granny squares to put into afghans to donate to the people in Moore, OK. She is very appreciative of any help anyone can provide! All of the information is listed in her blog post below (titled "Oklahoma"), and I'd be happy to ask her any additional questions you may have! craftedheartsalliance.blogspot.com
  15. I am looking for an 8-pointed star afghan to make for my new grandbaby. I had started one but unfortunately my 2 year old grandson wadded the patternt up and threw in the garbage. Can anyone help me out?
  16. Hi, everyone! During March 2013, please help us make blankets for Project Night Night. To celebrate National Crochet Month, we are doing A Tour Through Crochet Country, which visits the blogs of one or two crochet designers each day. These designers selected Project Night Night as their charity for the blog tour. You can read more about the blog tour and Project Night Night here on Crochetville's blog post: http://crochetville.com/a-tour-through-crochet-country-natcromo-blog-tour/ I know this is short notice (sorry I did not post it here earlier!) but we would love to have our members donate crocheted blankets to Project Night Night. (Note that all blankets donated must be new or newly handmade. Ideal size is 50 x 60" or smaller. Check their item donation guidelines.) If you donate a blanket, will you please help us keep a tally of donations by using this form to tell us about your donation? Thank you!
  17. Hello fellow Villagers, I need help. I'm about to embark on a big project, for me as a beginner. I'm going to make a blanket for my mom. The yarn is already on order: it's Debbie Bliss EcoBaby Organic Cotton, in a lilac shade. My mom only wants one color and (unlike me) doesn't like lots of holes in her work. I picked up crochet because of the holes. lol Back to my mom. One color, one pattern, nothing too complicated. I was going to do it entirely out of shell stitches, because this is very beautiful, but I kept messing it up and having to go to my crochet teacher for help. This, just with the yarn I picked up for the scarf I'm making which is the exact type and color as the ecobaby that's on order. I should also warn you that, even with stitch markers on both ends, I still have trouble knowing where the end of the row is, and sometimes end up with a crooked project and having to rip back. So it needs to be VERY uncomplicated. I've even been thinking of a simple granny square. I have "The Granny Square Book," and I could adapt any of the colored squares to one color, just using the closed designs. Then sew them together. That might be my best bet, something small to work with, just a square. What do you think? Fretting, Chris
