Our House Part Two

Hi ladies. It was 70 degrees here yesterday, and it felt a lot warmer. We spent the day wandering around the national park. Today looks gloomy at the moment, and I think the high is going to be around 50.

Mary, hope you enjoyed some down time.

Marlene, doesn't sound like there is ever a dull moment at your house.

Judy, I'd probably consider crocheting with size 3 yarn as well. Although, I did once knit a scarf out of lace weight yarn. It took months!

Morning peeps!

Cindy, thanks for your input...makes me feel better about putting the knitting needles aside for now.

Enjoy the weather.

I frogged the slouch hat - not thrilled with the look of it. The yarn will likely be used for a simple wrap/wide shawl.

We woke to a very thick fog and temp in high 50's which will be close to 70 later on today. Our NY friends will be coming by for a visit today,

Have a good day my friends.

Hi Ladies,

It was 34 today when we were in Lansing. We got out of town just in time as when we got home they had lots of accidents and roads closed. We had dry roads on the way home. But it did snow on and off all day. Hubby had his cleaning this morning at the dentist. We had coffee with his mom and brother before the dentist appt.

We mad a stop off to the union hall. They are changing are insurance come January 1st. And I can not see a specialist unless I'm willing to pay for it my self. It's because I live in one of three counties they don't want to cover any more. I said I drive an hour and 15 minutes to doctors and dentist. I'll change my address. He said don't tell anyone  but there are lots of people doing it. They feel the same as i do. Hubby goes on medicare March 1st so he won't have a problem. That guy said some are just getting a po box. But I'm not sure that would be enough.

I just talked to my kids and one of my sisters. I had my physical today. And I have to go for an ultra sound of my cervix. The doctor asked when was my last monthly. I told her February of 2011. She said my cervix is raw which means it's inflamed and I was spotting. They called to schedule it before we got home today. I will call them the first thing in the morning. Hubby has to go to the doctor at 1:00 and if I'm lucky they may be able to do it tomorrow to. If not I will shoot for wednesday when we go back to see the heart doctor.

My aunt died from cervical cancer and bone cancer. She didn't go to the doctor when she started her monthlys up so she was in the fourth stage of cancer. I haven't had any signs of spotting or anything so if it were to be cancer it would be at the very early stages. With my two cousins battleing cancer this year it is pretty scary at the moment. But I had a nice long talk with God when I got in the car. I let him know I wasn't going anywhere I have Maya to see grow up and my two other grandkids to plus my family. So if this was to be the worse I would be fighting. I had an issue in the early 2000's with precancerous cells on my cervix and they burnt them out. So I just hope it can all be taken care of in the same way. Sorry for going on and on. Please say a prayer or keep me in your thoughts. :manyheart

Hi, my friends....

Marlene, I will keep you in my prayers and I'm sending you big hugs. With a family history I can only imagine how scary this is. Hopefully you will be able to get the test done today. And that's what we're here for...to hold our friends close when life throws us a curve....

Hi Ladies!

Thanks so much for the prayers. I was able to get the ultra sound done today. The tech said I should hear something wednesday, but we won't be home. Hubby has an appt with the heart doctor. There in the same building so I may just pop in and give them my cell number.

Yesterday hubby was at his VA appts and called me right after I was done with my appt. He wasn't feeling well again. I needed to pick him up. I wanted to go to ER and he said no. So I took him to an ambulance so they could check his blood pressure and it was a little high for him but not much. After talking them for awhile they said they would check his sugar. I'm sure they said 69, but hubby thought they said 59. So when we got in the parking lot I called are doctors office and left a message about what happened. And this has been going on for awhile and I'm at a loss I don't know what more to do. The nurse called back and she schedule him with a doctor in the same office for today. We did find out he is a diabetic, but don't need no medicine. That's puzzling right now to us. But after we read the literature they gave us maybe we will understand why they didn't give him medicine for it. This doctor thinks his blood pressure is to high and ordered a new lower dose. We checked and the heart doctor will be in the office while were there (were schedule to see the PC). I want the doctors opinion on this before we do something. As they increased it to treat the blockages he has. The arteries are to small to do stints and medicine is suppose to take care of it. I'm going to ask if maybe we need to spread out the medicine to be taken every 18 hours instead of 12 hours.

It seems to be one thing or another lately. I hope things settle down.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Stay warm!

Good morning. We got home from vacation last night. Unpacking is done, laundry has started and I've got bread going in the bread maker. I'll be sending the robot vacuum out in a few minutes. Sophie was ecstatic to see us. She's been right next to one of us constantly since we got home. Ds stayed with her while we were gone, but evidently she still missed us.

My fil has been battling severe emphysema for a few years. This past Wednesday, he quit eating. My DSIL says he's very weak and shaky. The doctor feels that this is an end of life issue. My mil is talking about hospice. We will be going over there a little later on today.

Marlene, sending good thoughts and prayers for all the issues you and DH are facing. I hope that you get good news on Wednesday.

Cindy ~ Sending hugs and prayers to you and your family. :hug    Is your FIL still at home?  I'm glad you had a good trip to the mountains.

Judy ~ Yes, our kids are sure getting old. (Not us, though ;))  DD will be 40 on the 25th!  We brought her home from the hospital on Thanksgiving Day...my doctor didn't want me to go home yet, but I was determined. :)

Marlene ~ Thinking of you and hoping you and hubby are okay. :manyheart

Hi to the rest of the House, too!

We may have snow flurries later - this is early for us!  It's been in the 20's and 30's for a few days now.  Perfect afternoon to crochet!

Hi Cindy ~ It's a winter wonderland in Michigan!  Ready or not... ;)   We're at 26 degrees with a little sleet and snow flurries!

I finished a baby afghan today.  DD asked me to make one for a charity auction and it makes me feel like I'm helping in a small way.

Have a good evening, everyone. ♥

I'm BACK!  Finally!  Sorry it's taken so long, but getting organized is taking longer than expected, but I followed Marlene's advise from Amy last night and I'm back on, just with a slightly different name.  It is COLD!!!  I remembered that it got cold up here, but the reality is just so much worse than what I remembered.  BRRRRRRRrrrrrrr!!!!  The temp outside is 14* with winds of 30+ miles per hour so the wind chill is -15*.   Oof!  We were just outside so Sweet Pea could do her business.  She was game for more walking, but I gave up after just one trip up and back in front of the apartment building.  And, Yes, I was wearing multiple layers.  I really need to get a long winter coat to protect my legs from this nonsense.

I still have about a fourth of the boxes still to unpack, but it progressing ever so slowly to become more my home.  And it is worth it to be able to spend time with my daughter and grandson.  He is so very special.  Reading is hard for him, which makes school very hard.  But he loves to be read to and DD has it set up that he earns time to play video games by reading which is helping.  He had his first overnight with me on Thursday and it went very well.  He is very protective of his mom and of me too.  He isn't seeing his dad anymore (Dad's choice), but his uncle is helping to provide him with a good role model.

I'm still crocheting up a storm making shawls.  I haven't located all the stuff for my quilting, including the cord for the sewing machine, so that's currently on hold.  To compensate I'm working on my spinning and it's getting more and more even.  I'm actually thinking of using some of this yarn for a shawl in wool.  It's far from perfect, but improving steadily.

You have all been on my mind and in my prayers.  I'm glad to finally be back.  Have a good day.

Hi Ladies,

Cindy, Welcome home! Prayers and good thoughts for your family.

Judy, Hubby has been told more than once he's lucky he has me. A couple of doctors have been surprised with me organization of all of his medical tests and such things. I have to stay on top of it or we would have big problems. My DS will be 40 next July, DD will be 37 in April and SD will be 40 in December. I think now days lots of women are more mature and age doesn't make that much difference.

Linda, Welcome home! It's so good to see you here again! Linda is your grandson in a reading program at school. If not DD should talk to the teacher about it. Maya is and she has really improved. Even with all the reading we've had her do for years. Her mom and DS were both in a reading program so we shouldn't be so surprised I guess. I remember having one of those long coats when I was younger. I loved it! A few years back I thought about looking for one, but with the cars now days being smaller I changed my mine. Stay warm!

Mary, It's really sweet of you to make a baby blanket for DD's charity.

It's cold and been snowing off and on all day. Were expecting 3-6 inches through tomorrow night. DD called she took Maya to the doctor this morning. She's had a cough and it's only been getting worse. She has an ear infection. The doctor said to start giving her her breathing treatments. I moved furniture around today in the living room. Not to sure I'm going to leave it though. Where I put the tv it makes you feel like we need a bigger tv. So I will probably put it back where it was. I made chili for supper. DS and DIL are in California for there honeymoon. He's a raider fan and they plan on going to a raider football game while there. DIL is a sports nut so she will enjoy it.

Stay warm everyone and have a great week!

Hi ladies. There is a winter storm going on here. We have about 8 inches on the ground and it's snowing hard. My drive home from work took me an hour and 20 minutes. (It's about 12 miles). Seems like the first snowfall of the season brings out every single person with a car. I have to work tomorrow too, but DH says he's going to drive me to work so that he can keep my Blazer at home. His van doesn't have 4 wheel drive,

Linda, it's so good to "see" you again. I often wear leggings under my pants for extra warmth. My legs get really cold too. A long coat woukd be good for me too.

My fil is holding his own. Mil says today was a better day.

I'm glad to be back.  I've missed being able to talk to you all.  I've dropped in from time to time to read some of the posts, but there are way too many to go through now, so I'll just on from here.  I did go back a couple of pages and saw a few new people.

To those who don't know me, I've been with this CAL almost from the beginning as busy-bee-lmt, but moved from Georgia back up to Iowa this summer.  After 12 years in the South, I am way out of touch with Northern winters, so I'll probably moan and groan a lot this winter.  I grew up in northeast Iowa, but my body has forgotten just how cold it can get here.  My daughter and her son live about 6-8 blocks from me now.  He's my only grandson and I've missed out on most of his growing up so far.  I got to celebrate with him on his 11th birthday last month and it was super special.  And was with my daughter for her 39th birthday earlier this month.  It is super nice being near them now.  I've been crocheting and knitting and doing all kinds of hand-work since I was 8 or 9 years old, which is when Grandma taught me to crochet and Mom taught me to knit.  I've done both off and on ever since, over 50 years.  My DD has gotten me hooked on spinning in the last few years and I'm going to be trying my hand at weaving this winter.

Stay safe and warm everyone.  And be careful on the roads, those of you who have to be out in the nastiness going on at the moment.

Good morning. Wow, do we have snow! Not like parts of New York, but it looks like close to 2 feet. It has stopped snowing though, at least for the moment. It looks beautiful, but I'm glad I can stay home today. Yesterday's commute was worse than Monday's, but there was less traffic. For some reason the first snow of the season brings out every person with a vehicle. I notice it every year. I guess they must all think that it's time to stock up or something.

Mary, congratulations on your anniversary.

I couldn't sleep last night, so I'm going to be dragging today. Might be a sit around and craft day.

Dh visited his parents yesterday and his dad is doing a bit better.

Good morning, everyone.  Two feet of snow, Cindy?!  Wow!!!  And I though that our 2 inches or so was bad.  Doesn't even compare.  I'm glad you don't have to get out in it today.  A craft day sounds wonderful.  We're sitting at 24* which is approximately the high for the day, then going down from there into the upper teens.  And it's windy.  I should do some things today, but I'm not at all that I will.  It may be another reading/crafting day for me too.

Stay safe today everyone, whatever your weather is.   :manyheart
