What is ravelry? I see that it was explained before in this thread but I am still confused a bit. Is it a forum like crochetville? Why is there a wait to join? What is so special about it??? Is it just a place to show off stuff and learn about projects?

I got my invite last week and have been slowly getting my info on there. They only use flicker for photos right now,so i had to load my pics again and start a new account. It's really cool though! Lots of fun people and projects, but not enough crocheters!!! I can't wait for more of you to get in! I'm kimbo over there too, look me up.

Here's what I am pretty sure you can do:

 

catalog your stash, needles, hooks and I think patterns too.

 

Surf yarn you have in your stash and see what others made with it. So it sounds great for stash busting purposes. As far as I get it's so much easier to get info because it's a just a click or two away not a big google search.

 

Keep track of you FO's and and see how others made the same thing.

 

Have a project in mind from a pattern see what yarns others used.

They're still in beta, when they get the bugs worked out there won't be a waiting list anymore. We definitely need more crocheters there, only about 10% of the current members crochet at all!

 

It was started by a knitter, though, so the knitting community found out about it first and signed up earlier. Jess and Casey are very eager to make it crochet-friendly. It's fuuuuun.
