Beautifully done, Lindsay! Now I'm sitting here wondering what your great grandmother would think to know her lacework was on something like the Internet, being fawned over by all us crocheters!

What beautiful heirlooms!

Are you going to use them as doileys? If you're afraid of actually using them, you might have them matted and framed. My family is forever matting and framing memorable family items, like a letter my grandfather wrote to my parents on the birth of their first child (my brother).

Those are really lovely...they make me think the patterns may have been from the Art Deco era, when straight lines, stair-steps, and geometric shapes were giving everyone a breath of fresh air from the Victorian frilliness and Art Nouveau free-form. At the moment, even though they are very old, they look very contemporary.

I can only only echo what everyone else has said--they are very lovely and exquisitely done.
