Hi everyone, just popping in to say hi. I haven't been around for a while mostly because I've been pretty depressed. It was my dad's birthday on the 13th, so that was a rough day. Then on the 14th, my cat Kitsu (my young black cat with the heart condition) had to have a chest tap to remove fluids from his chest. He recovered well from that, but then he had to have another one this past Friday. Of course this isn't cheap, so I'm totally broke (I couldn't pay the bill this past Friday, but they let me carry a balance, the two procedures cost a total of $500 but he's still got fight in him so I can't give up on him, and he's worth every penny!) Luckily I have a decent yarn stash, so I'm not going without, and I have plenty of books, so I can keep entertained.

But, the fact that he needed a second tap within a week is just not good news. It means even with medication (right now, we're up to 10 pills a day plus a daily injection of lasix, a diuretic), his heart can't keep the fluids from building up. Some of this may be affected also by the weather, and we're expecting a few more fronts through here this week.

Right now Kitsu seems to be pretty comfy but if the fluids build up again so fast, it probably won't be in his best interest to do another chest tap, and I may have to let him go. The cardiologist told me she lost 4 patients last weekend! Also, on Friday, there was another lady who came in with her cat, similar situation to Kitsu, including just having had a tap last week, and they lost that cat on the table Friday. I know it could just as easily have been my cat, and I feel so bad for that lady, but I'm so grateful to have my little man home with me right now.

I was supposed to start housesitting tonight for 5 nights, but I couldn't bare to leave Kitsu alone, so a friend agreed to cover every night except Tuesday and Wed, which I'll need to do. No getting around it, the couple is out of town, and we're being paid to do it, but I am still worried about leaving Kitsu overnight. But I have to have faith nothing bad will happen to him while I'm not here.

He's resting comfortably, he's eating well, I even (gently) got him to play with a toy. After all, he's still a cat, and wants to be a cat! But I can't let him get excited or exert himself.

Realistically, he has very little time left, so I'm trying to enjoy him every second I can. I have been smooching him silly all weekend (which he loves)!

But it's not all grim. Sam is finally doing well with the leukeran, and he hasn't been getting so sick! Also, I've been on vacation since Wednesday, and I'm off until the 7th, so that's good, too. And of course, it's bowl game season, so lots of football. And it's freaking cold, so I have a fire going, and lots of friends have been taking me out for free meals and giving me lots of chocolate, so I have tons of chocolate. I figure nothing I eat or drink has calories while I'm on vacation, right? :lol

Sorry this got so long...

Cara- loved the yarn story ! That is FUNNY ! Knowing you, you would have loved ANY yarn they got you, though, wouldnt you ? :yes

We will all be excited to see what new patterns you add to your page .

Renee- you poor thing, I'm so sorry that you are having a difficult time right now. I hope things improve soon and it's good that you have some things to be thankful for, even when life isn't too great. It's good to have friends ,food and football .... the 3 F's . ( Yarn should fit into that list someplace, but it;s not an F word ... glad you have lots of yarn too, it helps get you through some rough times .

Best wishes for a better '08 .

Tab- we'd all be more than willing to make you some baby items if you change your mind... just remember that-- look at the little cutie-pie !

May I take a moment to also say Merry Christmas Eve to all of you today --- hope you all have a couple of good days with friends and family and good food to eat .

Happy Holiday Ladies,

I'll check back in later. I'm going back to bed. I have to close the store this evening and open on Christmas morning. I haven't had time to read the post. I don't know when I'll be able to get back on. I don't have an off day yet and I'm still sick. Hopefully, I can do a lot of the recovery of the store on Christmas and I'll be able to take off 3 days next week.

Howdy gals :flower

Okay, first and foremost.....look at this little face on new grand nephew Peyton

Peyton1.jpg

He's so tiny! :manyheart Can't wait til I can get up there to see him :manyheart

Linda - The Rooster is a masterpiece! :nworthy :nworthy He's simply fabulous! Now I have to learn how to make your special squares because this house is Kitty & Rooster Central :lol

Okay, so previously we heard that my BIL called about yarn choices for my requested Christmas gift, right? Turns out SIL was with him as well. He was choosing RHSS in what SIL says was, "the ugliest colors they had". Of course, we all know there's no such thing. Stash building is stash building, am I right? But she checked out the Vanna's and saw the difference and the following little scene played out...

Amy (SIL): Chris, I think Travis needs to go to the bathroom again.

Travis (nehew, age 3): I don't have to go potty, Mommy.

Amy : Yes, you do.

Travis: No, Mommy I really don't.

Chris (BIL): He doesn't have to go Amy.

Amy: Yes, he does he just doesn't know it.

So BIL takes nephew to the boys room and SIL puts all the RHSS back and gets the Vanna's. BIL comes back wanting to know what happened to his choices. She tells him he can choose something too and this is what he's allowed to add to the basket.....

Amy added 32 skeins of Vannas and 3 fabulous large tote bags....

I'd have been over the moon with RHSS in various colors but I'm in heaven with the Vanna's :c9

Sorry for the long story but I thought it was hilarious :lol

Baby Peyton is precious! I know you can't wait to hold him.

Love your yarn story...your SIL sounds like one clever lady.

Morning Mary. :) Yes, Darius & Jaden still believe in Santa. Tre & Sage haven't since last year when they were 11, we tried to fight them on it but they just didn't believe us. They are good about not ruining for the little ones. Jaden is cute though because he gets really excited still. Darius is 8 so he believes but he is like give me what I want & goodbye, thank you. :lol Jaden lights up at the sight of Santa & gets all frazzled, too cute. :manyheart We have a santa club in our town so santa goes door to door tonight & gives a whole bag of gifts/snacks. He'll sit while we take pics., it's lots of fun.

*Oh, and don't let those other ladies (you know, the bad ones) corupt you. I don't know what to do with them. :shrug It's child abuse to use a paddle now a days. :lol

Good Morning Tabby and Krystal. Do any or all of your kids still believe in Santa? We kept that going as long as we could and I still leave something "unwrapped from Santa."

I am not sure if all of my kid "truly" believe or not. My younger ones, for sure. My oldest? I think he goes along with it but the shine has worn off. WE don't focus too much on it, so it isn't a huge letdown if the mystery wears out.

Tab- now, now, where is your holiday cheer ? Swinging that bat on Christmas ---- for shame, girlie .

I think it's funny, now we even have MARY in on the act and she is one of our most well-behaved members .

And I have broken parts, remember ? They also are possibly in line to be removed ,which is fine by me .

And anyone that sends Sam Viagra -- I will start swinging the bat then .

First HIM, then at whoever sent it to him .

You all are too funny! Of course I can laugh...I had a hysterectomy at 26 due to cervical cancer. I guess it's pretty obvious now why DD is so special and I'm so glad we had a baby when we did. :c9 All of a sudden my "baby" just turned 33. :lol

Julie ~ Just keep on thinking I'm so well behaved. :devil
