Vintage Reconstruction

This is a doily that my Mother was given by her grandmother many moons ago lol. I borrowed it and wrote a pattern for it as I recreated it. Let me know what you think. :)

Now see, I can't do that!! It looks identical to me. I think you did an excellent job!! I do believe I have that original pattern somewhere in my collection. It would be interesting for you to be able to compare your instructions to the original.

Good job!:clap

Thanks everyone for your kind words. If anyone is interested in the pattern feel free to pm me. I have it jotted in a notebook and have to write it out first though

I hope this doesn't upset anyone but I just saw this doily on the cover of a pattern leaflet/book at my wal-mart. I'm sorry i don't remember the name of it but I'm pretty sure it was leisure arts, maybe you could get it and see what the differences are.

Why would anyone be upset? I never claimed it was an original pattern. I would however, love to see that book.

I found the book that was mentioned at Walmart today...there are a number of differences but the main part of the doily is the same (with the exception of so many rows of petals for the flowers). When I have time later I'm going to compare the pattern to what I have written up. I have to admit I'm a bit confused...I know my great grandmother made it, I highly doubt she designed it. My mother cannot crochet so I'd like to know where the original pattern came from...they're just too close.

I wonder if talking to Leisure Arts customer service might help solve the mystery? I don't know how much info they'd be able to give you, but their # is 1-800-526-5111. I wonder if they'd be able to tell you when they first published that pattern, or if they ever published it in a different form?

The original pattern was done in shaded yellows and printed by American Thread Company in Star Book No. 80, copyright 1951. A lot of patterns are in several different books, just like what Leisure Arts does today, but that's the book I have it in.
