Braided Afghan

A while ago several of you helped me pick out a blue for an afghan that I was making.  I finished it and gave it as a birthday present today.  Thank you for helping me pick the darker blue, because the colors really match her bedspread!

(The afghan turned out much better than my picture taking!  LOL)

Wow that is amazing!  Was it very difficult to make?

It's wasn't difficult as much as it was time consuming.  It consists of single rows of a dc ripple, that are braided together.  Then a round of sc & chains to connect them and a round of dc as a border and to hide the chains.  The panels are joined with rsc.  A rsc border finished it off.  The pattern is #1 in the Mile-A- Minute Contest Favorites book.

I saved a ton of time by making the ripple rows with fdc, instead of long chains w/ a dc row.  I think it would have taken me months just for the ripples, since I hate long chains and dread crocheting into them!
