Rainbow shag vest

This is a jacket-vest I made for my dd. It is made from Patons Classic Wool Merino with Patons Allure for the trim. Here she is modeling (I had to bribe her to do this with the promise of a "surprise" - read: candy)

What a beautiful vest, Eugenie! I had read your earlier post in the felting thread about your testing. I'm impressed with how systematic you were working in an experimental medium. I especially like the look of the back loops that you left uncut and have more the quality of chenille. How did you come up with the idea for this technique in the first place? I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone felt with the loop stitches before. Your daughter looks precious. I always get a kick out of the look on the faces of our family members we get to model our creations!

Wonderful work! :cheer:clap:cheer

Eugenie, (love that name) I'm so glad that you followed through and made something using your new technique. I had also read your earlier post and was intriqued. That type of fabric is especially welll suited for children. The vest came out very cute. Although the shoulders DID appear small at first, in retrospect, it looks as if they would have been fine anyway. But the trim is very classy, nevertheless! Good job!:clap

I love the colors.

If you just add some sleeves (I'd probably use a diffent color for each sleeve colors), a hood, and make it a little longer you could have a great warm coat.

Yes I'd love to make it into a real jacket but when I was making it with all those loops I was worried about the bulk in the underarm/shoulder area. Maybe I'll start over and try again with solid sleeves as you suggest.

Thanks everyone for your kind words!
