Very first ever crochet-scarf

This is my very first crochet creation ever. It's a scarf for my 8 year old son for Christmas. It was hard to get a good picture because it's so dark (grey), but very soft and cuddly. Lion Brand Chenille "Thick & Quick". Any suggestions on improving my crocheting is much appreciated. I'm nervous to post this because it is the first thing I've ever made.....

There are two things you need to know about crochet: 1) "practice" requires you to crochet, crochet, crochet and crochet 2) it's rather addictive
