2016 Stashbusting CAL

This is a continuation of last year's game. With the start of the new year, you get to start with ZEROS for your point scores. If you want, keep your 2015 score in your signature to remind you to "Do Better".

Here are the general rules:

Please sign up to this thread and I will be putting all the names at the end of this post so that we know who's playing.

Also, please put a line in your signature for Stashbusting score. Example: WTD=+5 YTD=+27.

Please post your scores by Midnight on Saturday, so that the scorekeeper can pick them up. Shortly after that, the scorekeeper will be tallying the scores and posting them on Sunday.

Please make your score easy to be seen. Large numbers and pretty colors really help.

Example:

WTD=+7 YTD=-9

WTD= week to date and YTD = Year to date.

First (gold), second (silver) and third (bronze) will be noted on the scorekeeping list on Sunday, along with all the other scores. If you have the largest total in receiving yarn and not using it up, it is called the "Shoot the Moon" award.

The "Shoot the Moon" winner from the previous week will be responsible for posting the scores the following week. If the "Shoot the Moon" winner is not available to post the scores, please contact greyhoundgrandma as early as possible so that scores can be posted in a timely manner.

The scorekeeper should post by 12 noon Eastern Time on Sunday. If it will be posted at another time, due to work, church, etc., please notify the group so that they will know when to expect their scores.

Scorekeeping

For every skein of yarn you use up completely, you get two (2) points.
For every skein of yarn that you roll into a ball, you get one (1) point.
For every ball of yarn you use up, you get one (1) point.

For every skein of yarn you buy, receive, or inherit, you lose two (2) points.
For every ball of yarn you buy, receive, or inherit, you lose one (1) point.

A skein of yarn is a brand new bundle that you have bought at a store or its equivalent. If you roll it into smaller cakes or balls, it will still count as two (2) points when you use them completely. You count points for yarn that you use in crocheting, knitting, crafting or give away.

This is an on-going CAL. Feel free to join at any time!

When you start playing with us for the first time, you DON'T COUNT what's in your stash. For many of us, that would be impossible. You get points when you use up what's in your stash or lose points when you add to your stash.

This first scores will be posted January 3rd, for the week ending on January 2th.

If you have any questions just post them to the thread.

Good luck with your stashbusting!

Yes Yes Yes I am so IN! I'm gonna have to replenish my stash before the 1st of the year so I don't go deep in the negatives right off the bat HAHA! But seriously.. Count me in please!!

I know what you mean! I'm going to have to get yarn for several afghans I want to do, but I wasn't organized enough to get it ordered so it would arrive in time to count this year. Oh well, that's the way it goes.

You are added to the list.

I definitely want to join for next year! It's always so much fun, even if I end up on the minus side. There's always much mirth in my household over whether or not I'm going to "shoot the moon" this week. LOL...

You're on the list. I agree that it's fun even though I make the bottom of the list more than the top!

I'm back in!  :yes   This CAL really kept me focused this past year on using up a lot of yarn.  Of course, now that I've used up so much yarn I have to replace it....right?  :think   I did get a couple of gift cards for Christmas....

You are on the list. Can't let that stash so completely dry! Aren't gift cards fun!

I had a pretty good crocheting day today. Finished a scarf and rolled the skein into a ball...+1 Started on a basket using bulky yarn in smaller skeins and finished the first two skeins...+4. Alternated working on the basket with working on a baby hat, but it probably won't even use enough to roll that skein into a ball. So at +5 for now.

YES!!! Because I went to Joann's today and I need company at the bottom!  :lol

Darn sales... I bought 4 skeins for a virus shawl and 9 for an afghan that I didn't have planned at the time, but now I do, so now i have to go back and buy several skeins of an additional color. Whoops. -26 so far to kick off the year, so I think I need to go have some quality time with my hook!!  ;)

Two more skeins used up on the basket...+4  = +9

A lot of ladies in several of my crochet Facebook groups are doing one so I needed to get on the bandwagon. I just need to finish this Moogly CAL first and make some more progress on the Nana afghan... the virus shawl is going to be my Take a Break From the Other WIPs project.  :)

I used up skein #5 and rolled #6 into a ball and finished the basket...+3 = +12.

I added you to the list, crabby rat.

That virus shawl is really pretty--very tempting to try it.
