A bunch of hats (img heavy)

My aunt teaches children's church and has for years. She is always doing something for others so we wanted to return the favor. So, I got my mom and daughter to help again. lol We made them all hats. I made the girls granny beanies... they look like flapper hats to me. Each flower has a rhinestone button on the middle. The pastel one is for an 8 month old. We started w/ 10 kids and then but there is two 3 yr olds that are too young to come in... couldn't leave them out. Then a 12 year old that is too old but can't leave him out either.. then of course the baby. It's okay, we had fun doing it. Mom made the boys hats and Brittany did the earflaps for her.

 

They ended up with Cookie Monster, Elmo, a sock monkey, a frog w/ wiggly eyes, a dinosaur or spiked hat and a football hat. The kids will get them Sunday. They live in another state, but I'm sure we'll hear if they liked them.

What a loving, caring thing to do! I'm sure the children will all love them and it will be a great surprise for your aunt too! I love reading about these wonderful acts of kindness! Crocheters have BIG hearts!

They got the hats this morning. My aunt said they all absolutely loved them and they all fit. There was only one exception, the 12 going on 13 year old was asked if he wanted one and he declined. Guess he was too 'grown up'. But otherwise, happy campers all around. Everyone in the church loved them too.

 

angelsmith, we didn't use a pattern. Mom made a basic beanie, lil_hippie added earflaps and I just started with 6 sc in a magic ring and did increases, sc around, repeat until it was what we wanted.
