Cut-Away Cardi CAL

I'm kinda wondering how the sleeve is worked. It doesn't make much sense to me in the directions. I thought that it would either need a foundation chain of a small number and have it worked in a sort of round... or... a really long foundation chain and then a few rows and then sewed together with a seam. But the directions want a long foundation chain with like, 40 rows.

Right? :think

Can someone tell me how theirs worked out? Thanks.

Edit: I started the sleeve... one panel... so is it safe to assume that it will need to be sewn together to make a tubular shape to attach?

I'm going to start on mine soon. I'm thinking of getting different yarn. Not sure what yet though. I'll probably browse Joanns again and see what I can find. Something not so stretchy (I hope). I will go this weekend if it's not rainy (again).

And I'm going to do it in one piece. I don't like sewing either.

The sleeves look like they are sewn together down the side (a lot of sweaters are done that way). I wondered why they weren't worked in a round. I may try that myself, but not sure yet.

And the edging separate is still an issue for me, although it will let me customize how big I made the mesh cardi. Again, the sewing:P. Maybe it could be sliped stitch together on the inside/wrong side? Maybe not. But I do like the pattern stitch of the edging.

I'm ALMOST done!! I just have to finish the edging that goes around the outside. I already did the sleeves.

To sew it together... there was something on the directions about using a single ch, then ch 3 and a single ch in another spot. So that's how I sewed all the pieces together and it seemed to work alright.. seeing as all the edges of the piece have the same holes the same distance apart.

Nikki, that looks great! Congrats on finishing it. :clap

I'm going to change yarns. I think Bernat Satin Sport will be a better choice. Color is Aran. I all ready did a guage swatch and it works. I found the yarn at Micheals and had a 20% off total order coupon (from their e-mail), so that worked out.

Very pretty!!!!

I finished mine off this morning...all in all I am pretty pleased with it, other than having one cuff slightly larger than the other...( not noticable to the untrained eye) and after ironing out the glitches in the pattern, I am very pleased! yey my first ever cal!!!!

How is everyone else doing on these?

:waving, Deb!

I am working on mine here and there, but I had back burnered it :blush for a while... I really need to get back to it. I have :frog :frog'd the original, and am also working in 1 piece.

Glad to see you revive this CAL!

Glad you revived this thread! I am only about 5 rows into it since I frogged and made one piece. I have also backburner-ed it. Hopefully I will be able to finish it soon since my other major WIP's are finished. I'd love to have a cardi for summer but at this rate, it won't be done until next year. :lol

I haven't worked on mine for a while. I've been crocheting other things (mainly socks--got addicted to them). But I plan on doing some more this month. I'm spacing it out because the chain loops can get boring for me. So I hope to have the back/front done this month along with some sleeves and then the edging. The edging also seems like it will be tedious, too. BUT I will be watching movies or tv while making it, so that helps a lot. Maybe I'll make sure my podcasts are up to date too...

Guideline reminder: I just ran across a post in this thread in which information about a site that appears in Crochetville's filters was added. When a site is added to our filters, any links to that site will appear with a bunch of ******** and the links won't work. Sites can be added to the filter for a number of reasons: they post scanned images of copyrighted patterns with out stating they have permission, they distribute unlicensed patterns of trademarked/copyrighted characters, material is too adult in nature for our child-friendly forum, etc.

If a site has been added to our filters, that also means we cannot allow any discussion of that site, hints at how to find the site or what's on it.

If you ever post a link to a site that's in our filters, please go back and edit or delete your post to remove the link and any mention of that site.

For more information on this particular guideline, you can read our regular forum guidelines post and our summary post of guidelines related to trademark/copyright issues. If you have questions about the guidelines, please feel free to contact me via PM.

I messed up on a mine and got distracted by other things.

If you figure it out, please let us know.
