Carpet of daisies runner

OK... here's my little after Christmas present to myself...

 

It's called Carpet of Daisies, from Decorative Crochet July 1998. It's made with Clark's Big Ball in white size 40 and a size 13 hook (.85mm ). It measures 27 in by 13 in. It's made for my dining room table. I'm putting a hurricane lamp on it (that you can see in the first picture) but haven't decided what's going in the hurricane yet... Any suggestions? Flowers or a candle or something else???

That is truly beautiful. I'd vote for a simple candle in the hurricane, but you could easily change it out for a variety. I'm in awe of using such a tiny hook and thread on such a project.

The runner is gorgeous!! You could put a candle with flowers around the base of the candle in the hurricane, you could also change it for different seasons and holidays.

That runner is fabulous--so fine and so pretty--a real heirloom you've made there!

 

I'm not a candle person, so if it were me, I'd put something else in the hurricane lamp--maybe some artificial greenery, "found" objects like rocks or pinecones, and maybe colored glass pieces to pick up the color of the decor in the room. Less to my taste, but I think it would be pretty would be bows (either purchased or homemade), or even an artistic tangle of ribbon. What about...*yarn*???

 

Or a small sculpture...or twisted wire...

 

Okay, I'm stopping.
