Winding Yarn - Easy, Cost Effective

Recommended Posts

Interesting. You can do it by hand too. I think the SnB HH book shows an example of it. It's easy.

I've tried the SnB HH way... its too hard for me. Maybe its the fingers (double-jointed), I don't know. This pencil way is intriguing. I'll have to try it when I'm going through my stash (hopefully this weekend).

Finally! A practical use for knitting needles! :D

Edited to add:

I just tried it (with knitting needles instead of pencils) and it works. It's not pretty, but it does work.

I use this method when I need to wind. Works like a charm! :tup

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! I use this method all the time and I love the shape that you get with this. I lost the link and I could never find it again to recommend it to someone else. This time I bookmarked it.

Thank you sooooooo much

I heartily recommend this method.

Just two days ago, I took my trusty TP roll and made it smaller so I could wind smaller balls in this same method.

The original post looks good too but I love the TP one most.
