OK...I did 2 of these:

I'm not real thrilled with the depth of htem so I think I'm going to try one in #5 thread...they just don't seem meaty enough for me...BUT... they are cute.....

I'll post when I get them finished...

what do you guys think of using double stranded thread for these?? I have a beuatiful, blue-green verigated, double stranded size 10 thread, but I'm worried it will make them too thick.... I guess I'll have to try it and see how it works out, just hate to have this thread go wasted.

Also, I think one of my next bookmarks is going to be this one : http://members.aol.com/cillcrochets/yoyobm.html

i think it's real cute, and if you do the yo-yo's in red and green, it would look like Christmas ornaments, I think.

thanks for the compliments on the bookmarks i've made so far.

how do you guys block these? Or do you not block them? I've washed them, rolled them up in a towel, to get out the excess, and then just laid them flat, kinda used my fingers to set the spacing, but I haven't used pins, and then I've just left them to dry.... I mean bookmarks don't need to be all stiff ..... do they??

I just use some starch and press some. Others I like to block a little because it brings out the pattern better. I use starch full strength but what I have doesn't make them all that stiff just more finished looking.

Some do fine w/o blocking. I don't think I've blocked the star flower ones or the columbine ones I've done in the passed but that was before I knew about blocking :P

OK, made my FIRST EVER bookmark. Unfortunately, I can't post it :( as it's a gift for someone here.... Of course, I didn't bother to take a picture, either - I made this one:

It was quite the challenge working with #10 thread when you're used to afghans and yarn. But I did it in one night, and it's pretty - so I guess I'll make another one or two....

I've never done bookmarks before. When I went looking for a pattern I found these that I really like:

I really like the idea of corner bookmarks! I'm going to make mine in baby yarn. I donated my thread many years ago to my son's class for a project. Has anyone else ever done them in baby yarn?

I am so excited... I finally finished a bookmark. :cheer

I tried quite a few different patterns, and had a hard time finding one that I understood the pattern. I started with a pattern, but it didn't turn out as big as I wanted so I added a shell edging. It turned out great.

I guess its perfect timing too, just found out my mom was rushed to the hospital this afternoon,:no so she';ll need a bookmark for her reading material.

th_butterflybookmark.jpg

YAY! I made it, I made it!

I am on a mission to use up anything I have stashed, so this is actually made out of embroidery floss. Didn't have any blue of a good color, so it's a peach color instead. Turned out pretty good, I think. Had to rework my brain a little reading "translated" American instructions. Only found *one* place where I think there's an error, and I'm not sure what a htr is, so I did a hdc with one extra yo in the beginning. Even if it's wrong, it turned out just fine!

I made the mistake of starching and ironing it, so now it's flat and shiny :( . It looked better before that, but it wasn't flat. I should have just pressed it between a book or something! OK, off to bed...

Thanks - I'm going to have to do some "regular" crocheting pretty soon, because this tiny stuff is nerve-wracking to me! The thread's smaller, th hook is smaller, the stitches are TINY and then I did it in BLACK!!!! That's enought to make me bonkers!

LOL!

The butterfly looks fantastic! That one's on my to do list. Thanks for reminding me about embroidery floss. I have bunches.

A tip to consider when using embroidery floss is to make sure it's color fast. Just put the colors you want to use in some water and see if they bleed.

I have several bookmarks to share but I have a few more ends to weave in and add some tassels then I'm good to go.
