Bridal Garter and Purse

I -and my mother- made the following garter and purse for a friend's wedding. They are the most elaborate projects I ever made. They were appreciated, though! My friend loved them.

 

The purse was lined with satin, and has tiny little pearl beads along the central part. I just crocheted. My Mom did the lining and sewing. Definitely a joint project!

 

It was made with shimmery sport-weight thread. The garter was made with thread as well, but finer, and had a shimmery layer to it, tooh.

 

Sorry for the quality of the pics. My friend took them since I forgot to photograph them myself, but you get the gist. What do you all think? Definitely a fun challenge. (All images are clickable!)

Maribel - they are beyond gorgeous and I am sure she really appreciated them. I hope she doesn't plan on throwing that garter and if she does, she better ask for it back!!!!

My gosh, Maribel! Those are just beautiful...the beading, the cording, the thread--everything! I agree with Janet. Make sure she gets that garter back or throws a cheap one instead! I can imagine that the bride is extremely pleased with this joint effort.

Thanks for the lovely compliments. The wedding was actually in August, it just took me a while to get the pics. She used a throw-away garter for the tossing routine, and definitely kept the one I made. I was so glad she treasured the items I made for her.

I am really impressed with that garter! I thought about making one for DD1's wedding, but chickened out. So intricate! The purse is perfect for a wedding, too!

Thank you! The garter is primarily double crochets with some picots around the edges. It's all basic stitches put together in an intricate way. Does that make sense?
