"painted" sewing thread doily

It is very pretty. I saw that you had a hard time keeping the thread from twisting. I got my thread for one of these and bobbins. I only bought one spool of each color and put it on three bobbins for each color. They have these nice little bobbin holders and you can keep it closed while you work the thread slips through nicely. That way it didn't cost so much for the thread and it was a small project to tote around. Nikki

now this is probably a stupid question lol, but i've never heard of a painted doily...is there actually painting involved? i assume there is but...things are not always as they seem.

There is no painting involved..it is done with sewing threads....three strands...then you gradually change the color throughout...

Well , I always look for these "painted doilies" but never find much info about them, like other doilies anyway. It looks complicated, I don't know if I want to attempt it yet.
