Tote Bag

Here is a tote bag I made for my Grandma for Christmas. It was a very easy pattern, and the end result is very stretchy and sturdy. Note that I put a few library books in the bag to make it fill out along with some yarn on top for the pic. It is from the Lion Brand website. Here's the pattern link: http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/ckc-allOccasionTote.html

Here are some pics of the completed project:

And a closeup of the stitching:

This is the first thing I have posted of my work! More to come!! Come on, I have to show off a little bit, right??:clap

Oh, I love it! I want to make one now (for myself!). It would make a great tote for the library or any projects. Yours turned out lovely. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure your Grandma will love it also.

Ooooooh, I love that tote. Your tote turned out beautiful, and I love the color! Thank you so much for sharing your photos, as well as a link to the pattern. I saw another tote similar to that a while ago, and I have been searching all over for the pattern - thank you so much! It is just beautiful, and you did a wonderful job on it. :applause

Thanks so much for the wonderful compliments!:D

Just to answer a couple of your questions...yes, I used the Lion Brand Cotton and it is very sturdy and stretchy. I had placed a few library books in the bottom of the bag, and the weight stretched the handle out a bit. However, I did wash the bag (I always wash my stuff before I give it away, just to check for any possible unraveling) and the handle was not stretched out. Kinda like a pair of jeans...you wear them, they stretch, then shrink back down when washed. I should mention that when washed, the cotton is a little more fuzzy than it was previously, but the bag still looks great! The yarn was very easy to work with...I would recommend this bag to anyone interested in a nice tote.

I am trying to design my own tote now with the same yarn....
