Baby It's Cold Outside sweater

Here's my second Baby, It's Cold Outside sweater for my friend E, who's due with a baby boy on Aug. 30. This was done in Homespun Montana Sky with a light color as trim (I think it's Deco). I love this pattern; it's so pretty and yet so easy, even a novice like me can whip one up in just a few nights!

Thanks for looking, Patty

The Baby It's Cold Outside sweater pattern is one of the fabulous free patterns you can find at crochetme.com (I think it was in the Feb/March issue?). It really is a fast and easy pattern, easy to read, and I only consider myself an advanced beginner, so if I can do it...:lol I'm not particularly fast because I enjoy crocheting, it's not a race for me like my friend who thinks she's a good knitter because she's fast. But I made this in about 4 hours, off and on over 3 nights. Of course, I had to frog the placket twice because I accidentally increased while crocheting the contrast, and I still wound up with a few extra stitches (I just sctog'd them; a crochet expert could tell but my pregnant friend won't notice, I don't think).

I made one of these a few months ago, too, in a variegated color in the 6 month size (this is the 12 month size in case he's a bigger baby than everyone expects, and with a daddy well over 6 ft tall, that could happen). Here's the link to that one (I posted it then): http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a383/DesertCrocheter/gifts/babyjacketforE.jpg

I love the variegated but it wound up being purply on one side of the front and browny/greeny on the other side, although the back looks great.

Nice job!

I like the design of this pattern, so simple and yet effective.

I am trying one right now, worked in "point granité" (I don't know how it's called in English, the chart is R0 = ooo / R1 = X°X / R2 = °X°... http://www.passion-crochet.com/points3.html ) for my 3 yars old daughter, the problem is I underestimated the amount of yarn I needed, so I'll have to get imaginative to finish it... I'll post a picture when it's ready... hopefully with it's owner posing :)
