irish crochet motifs

played a little around doing irish motifs... maybe i will assemble a doily.

 

this time i worked with linen-yarn for padding thread and it came out just ok i think.

 

still... there's lots of practice to be done :think

These are great! I tried Irish Crochet before but couldn't quite get the hang of it. I really like your swirly bit there on the bottom.

Is Irish Crochet the designs, or is there another form of crochet called that?
Irish Crochet is a distinct style of crochet using motifs. Padding cords can be used in the motifs for definition and dimension. The motifs can be joined to each other or with fill in laces. The variations of motifs is almost endless. It is one of the most beautiful forms of crochet as far as I am concerned.

I used "DMC Cébèlia" strength 10 for working- and four strands of "Anchor Artiste Linen" (a pure linen yarn) strength 10 for padding.

 

Thank you! I can see in the photos how nice and glossy the thread is, and great stitch definition.
