Does anyone know how to make a "magic hanky"?

You know, the baby bonnet that becomes a hankie for the baby's wedding? My mother had one with a pretty crocheted edging, so i figured maybe someone here knew how to make one.

I've never heard of that. Have you tried Crochet Pattern Central?

My girls got these when they were Christened.

 

first, trim the handkerchief with lace (crocheted would be gorgeous!)

 

Then, fold the hanky in half, and tack the corners. Run a ribbon through the middle along the fold, and tie it in a bow. That makes the back of the bonnet.

Oh, I thought the entire thing was crocheted, which is why I suggested CPC. I googled it and they are darling.
