Okay, okay!!! Mitzi put me down for at least one pillowghan!! I'm using this square and doing it in tlc essentials navy and forest green, trimmed in LB homespun in Colonial(navy) and Plantation(green). This will be for hubby for Christmas. But i can't start it till I finish the star ripple for my friend's baby. I'm hoping to finish that by next weekend so I'll probably get my yarn then. How about you Mitzi???? You gonna make another one?

Hi to everyone in the pillowghan CAL.

I am nwbondlady. The nw part of my handle is because I live in Vancouver, WA. :hi The bond part of my handle is because I own a bond knitting machine (about twenty years).

I have been crocheting for about thirty years, self taught and it is my most favorite thing to do. I do love knitting on my bond but I always finish and embellish my things with crochet. I love how versatile crochet is and how easily it can be adapted to almost anything you want to make.

I have made three pillowghans so far and think they make great gifts for everyone. The first two I made were for a wedding. I made them one for the house and one to be used in thier car.

I am not sure how to post pictures directly on here so I am putting the photobucket link to my pictures in here just in case the photo link doesn't work.

The pillowghan in the picture is the most recent and I designed it. :knit

I am looking forward to getting to know you all. Thanks for the welcome!!!!!!

Thank you for posting Fran! Your photos are incredible!

Rebecca! I'm happy you're about ready to begin....and since you are - I think I'll take you up on your offer and get another Pillowghan in the works. That square you chose looks really hard! You're MUCH braver than I!

I have a TON of scraps and such that I'd like to use the same pattern as before and just "wing it". It calls for two strands held together so that ought to use up quite a bit!

So count me in for No. 2!

I really want to join! I have lots of various colors of yarn that I would love to use in this project, particularly my pinks and blues since those are two of my favorite colors. (Pink blue and purple) And I have a book of granny squares in my room somewhere, so I'd like to join. Oh, Mitzi (sp?) I emailed you about joining.:) I hope people are still doing this!:D

Hi All,

After all this time I am still working on my pillowghan. I do have a question for you Becky... On the irish rose ghan How many of the roses do you make. If I read the directions correctly you need 16 rose squares to be sewed together as four in one big square to make four squares. But when folded into a pillow...it looks like to me there is only four sewed together to make one square. Do you understand what I'm asking? Your's was so pretty on the gallery! You all are doing a really beautiful job! And the colors are something else!

I just updated the CAL page with nikkicrochets and yarnjunkie who recently joined and I also found a few more leaflets to add to the pattern list. I've ordered them and they're on the way!!!

I am almost done with my "Spidey Pillowghan". Last night I finished all but one of the motifs I need. But I ran out of the blue yarn... on the LAST motif! Murphy's Law! (Or something....) I am so glad to be done, though. Just have to sew it together and ship it out. I am waiting to ship it until I get my new digital camera in a couple weeks. :clap

That's wonderful! You'll have a great sense of accomplishment once it's all done and you can move on to something else! I'm excited to see pictures and am really happy you stayed the course even though it got boring after a few squares!!!!

Hi I'd like to join the CAL pillowghan. I was bouncing around the board today and found this list. I have some blue yarn I was going to use for a blanket for my aunt. I think a pillowghan would make a great birthday gift for her. I'm going to look for some kind of granny square pattern now. -Jen

:welcome I'm so glad you're joining JEN! I have linked some patterns at the CAL gallery site here.

On a side note - I've been wanting to start a second pillowghan and think I've decided to do one for my sister's baby once she finds out the sex next month. I just ordered the Pillowghans for Baby book 2 and it's got some neat ones in it that look light and airy. They live near South Padre Island...so there's no need for a big heavy one like my first...

:hook Happy Sitching!

Thanks for the link Mitzi! I found a few 12 inch square patterns last night. I've started with a basic granny. I'm going to make a few of those combined with a few other patterns. I still haven't picked which ones I'm going to use, I have three more to read through. I've decided to make the afghan blue and white. I'm not sure that I have enough blue in the stash, so I'll add the white now. This way I won't get down to the end and find I've run out.Well, I'm off to crochet...

I have a question...I am doing 12 inch grannies for my pillowghan. Now, that said...If I do the 4 squares for the pocket, I'm going to have a 2' by 2' pillow. That is HUGE! Should I just make an over sized square (one) and then still put the ends on the original middle square? Does this make any sense at all? hahaha I guess what I'm saying is like a rectangular one so that the folded up piece will tuck inside.

Has anyone done this???
