Well, I finished the afghan and its just way too thick to be able to fit in a pocket that wouldn't look absolutely ugly hanging on the end of the afghan. So, I turned the pocket into a pillow and my youngest son has claimed the afghan. Pictures tomorrow. mmouseplus.gif

Here's a pic of what was to be my pillowghan. When folded up, it's almost 8 inches thick.... There are 18 squares that are 14.5 inches across, plus the edging around it. They are a collection of squares that were given to me on Freecycle. My youngest son claimed it and is snuggled up sound asleep under it even as I type. mmouseplus.gif

WOW!~ that's so pretty! Great job! If you don't mind - I'd still like to post the pics on the gallery. They're too sweet not to. I'll just pull the images off your blog. The pillow is gorgeous!

Ok, they're on...I'm not real happy with the photo section of the Gallery. I might try redoing it on pnavy or something. BUT not till I get some of these CAL's started/worked on.

We have two new people in this CAL, but I haven't seen them post here as of yet - one is a new member to Crochetville - YARNFAN and the other is Mandy and I'm not sure if she's on here or not, but I mentioned it to her.

I'll probably not be around this weekend again - so until Monday, have a great weekend - give that 'ghan a hug!

Okay, just an update to keep this cal. moving right along. I am half way through with the travel ghan (6 1/2" s instead of 12" squares). Yeah :danc I'm trying to do between two and three squares a day and attach them as they are completed. I get a better sense of accomplishment that way instead of having a stack of squares staring at me and mocking. I will not allow myself to begin anything new until this one is finished.:eek How's that for dedication.....

What a wonderful goal, Dawn! I need to get cracking on mine...have been sidetracked with my midlife crisis.

I was a Project Linus chapter coordinator for two years and thought I would mention that because I got an e-mail from a place I used to deliver blankets to and they told me they were running low and could the new chapter help out....anyways - if any of you don't have a recipient in mind for your Pillowghan - consider donating it to Project Linus or another organization. Children love the comfort and security of a blanket and the need is overwhelming. I think that is where mine will be going as I had no recipient or use in mind...

Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well and managing all of the projects we seem to take on this time of year! Time to get busy!!!

Well, I had to frog my whole pillowghan and start over - I had 10 inches too wide too ignore. I finally have it going again with my beloved Pink P hook from the Lion Brand Crochet for A Cause kit. I adore that hook! Anyways - what a mess! I have frogged that thing more times than I can count. But -at least I'm back on track for the weekend ahead.

Hope everyone is doing better on theirs!!

Dawn, I absoluteyly love the colors and yarn you chose for your travelghan. I'm wanting to make several pillowghans but have to hold off till after the holidays to plan them cause I'm booked with projects from now till Christmas Day!!! :help

But then I want to make one for my father-in-law for next years xmas present, as well as one for my livingroom and one for my bedroom!! So if any of you are still working on yours after Christmas, I'll join ya then!! :wangel

Rebecca, thanks for the compliment on my color selection. I dig it too. Oh yes, please join after the holidays. I still have one more pillowghan to go. It will be for my bed. I've picked out the colors and the pattern, but can not start it till after the holidays, either. I'm so close to being done with the travel ghan, I can't stand it. I'll get my butt in gear this week for sure!

Hey--look at me! I've just completed my first Pillowghan!:clap

This is the Travel Ghan that I made for my car.

Is it a pillow?

Or is it an afghan?

I'm so happy with the way it turned out I can't wait to go to the movies or a long car ride and get chilly so I can pull it out and use it. Hooray!!:danc

Thanks Rebecca :bow

I used a pattern for a 6 inch square so: the pillow is approximately 15 inches square and the afghan is 28 1/2" by 42". Just enough to keep your legs warm or throw around your shoulders. It's a great size to take to the movies or to a sporting event. You can sit on the pillow instead of the cold hard bleachers :danc

 • 1 month later...

Well, I almost can't believe it myself, but I finished the Neapolitan Pineapples Pillowghan. And in time for Christmas! It only took me 9 months........

Without further ado:
