Med travel pouch

Well, my new Dr. recently put me back on some asthma meds. She also told me to get a peak flow meter to make sure that I actualy am breathing. I travel a lot, so I wanted something to hold all this together while on the road.

This is what I came up with:

This is the bag empty.

Here is is stuffed. I used an XL sized tank top and had room to spare. My meds don't take up anywhere near this much space, but I like having the extra room.

Here's a detail of the edging I used. It creates a nice little ruffle.

I used #10 thread and a D hook. The stripe change mid-way through was because I did a decrease. I planned on doing another decrease a few rows later to make it a bit more sphere like, but I liked the color pattern so much I didn't. I really like the stretch that using a D hook with the #10 thread gave it. The bag itself is very light weight, but nice and tough. I used DC throuought. I didn't follow any real pattern, but I'd made bags like this before. I had a pattern at one point that I used to follow, but it's pretty simple.

OK. This hasn't been tested, and if I didn't write it well, please let me know. Here's the pattern.

Stuff Bag

Size 10 thread (I used Royal’s Mexicana)

D hook

Special stitch: DC decrease HO, insert into next st, pull up loop, HO pull through 2 loops, HO, insert into next st, HO pull through 2 loops twice.

1. Ch 3, join. Ch 3 (counts as 1st DC throughout) 11 DC into ring, join (12 DC)

2. Ch 3, DC in same st, 2DC in each stitch around , join (24 DC)

3. Ch 3, DC in same st, DC in next, *(2DC in next, DC in next) around join (36 DC)

4. Ch 3, DC in same st, DC in next 2, *(2DC in next, DC in next 2) around join (48 DC)

5. Ch 3, DC in same st, DC in next, 3 *(2DC in next, DC in next 3) around join (60 DC)

6. Ch 3, DC in same st, DC in next 4, *(2DC in next, DC in next 4) around join (72 DC)

7. Ch 3, DC in same st, DC in next 5, *(2DC in next, DC in next 5) around join (84 DC) * with the thread I used, to create the vertical strips, stop increases here

8. Ch 3, DC in same st, DC in next 6, *(2DC in next, DC in next 6) around join (96 DC)

9. Work 9 rows even, joining at each round end

19. Decrease row: Ch 3, DC in next 5, DC decrease *(DC in next 6, DC decrease) around join (84 DC)

20. Work 6 rows even joining at each round end

26. Ch 4, sk 1 *(DC in next, ch 1, sk 1) around (this is the drawstring row) join

27. Ch 3, DC in each st and ch 1 sp around.

28. Ch 3, 4DC in same st, *(Sk 2 st, 5dc in next) around.

Finish off and weave in ends.

Drawstring: make a long enough chain to fit comfortably around and a bit more. I did one entire repeat of the color pattern and it was more than long enough.
